You Make Me Smile

Good morning sweet friends!  I’m popping in to share a card today.  This card made me think about how we display the cards we are given, so come back tomorrow and you’ll get to see what I created from that brainstorm – and I was quite happy with it!!  Please forgive that I seem to be stuck on the same color palette, but I wanted to color some roses so this is what evolved.

Aren’t the flowers gorgeous?  I used Penny Black Petal Power and simply colored each rose with a Victorian Velvet Distress Marker, lightly spritzed with water and stamped.  After stamped, I decided I wanted to deepen some of the color so I scribbled some color down on my silicone mat using an Aged Mahogany Distress Marker.  With a wet paint brush I picked up a smidgen of the color and added it here and there.

On top of my base layer I used Spellbinders Basket Weave 3D Embossing Folder.  On top of that another embossing folder called Spellbinders Framed Canvas.  A rectangular frame using Spellbinders 5  x 7 Matting Basics A.  In the upper corners I used a two ornate corners from Spellbinders Imperial Square.  Although it is tiny, the sentiment can be stamped right along the lower right edge of the frame using Penny Black Snippets.

Yes, your roses on this card are GORGEOUS! You did a wonderful job of painting and shading them. Your card is sensational. Oh, tomorrow will be the big reveal. I can hardly wait that long. Your teasing with little tidbits the last few days has my curiosity piqued! By the way, I would like to thank you for telling us here on the blog how you construct your cards. A special THANK YOU for linking the supplies that you use on your cards. I like to click on the link you offer us. That way I get educated about what dies and/or stamps, as well as papers will work together and what they look like in the package. Seeing them and your lovely cards make me want each one that you have used in your card design. I now have a long list of “wants”. Have the birds started to sing their Spring songs around your home? I think I heard a chorus the other day myself even though I know winter is still here in the mountains. Take care my friend.ReplyCancel

When the Pecan trees bud out you know that the cold weather is over. The Jonquils, Paper Whites, Japanese Magnolia, Yellow Forsythia, Yellow Jasmine, Dog Wood, Red Bud, Azaleas, and Tulips all blooming give me Spring Fever and I then want to go outside and dig in the dirt. When I am worn out from digging in the dirt then I come in and make floral cards. Spring is my favorite time of the year.ReplyCancel
