Velvety Christmas Greetings

Card made with Velvet PaperHi there friends!  Can I just tell you that I love the velvet textured scrapbook paper you can purchase, it has the most heavenly texture!  It has been around for many years and for a while I loved it, then I thought it was faddish and now I’m back to the love stage!  The paper was the inspiration for my card today – I just love the decadent feel of the flock and the color is oh so rich.

Paper Bow

I crafted a hand made bow from strips of paper and worked some of the velvety paper into the bow and tails — I also used it for my background.  Normally I would be so miserly with this type of paper, scrimping so as not to waste an inch.  It feels good, today, to use it with abandon!  Not wanting to cover up the detail on the design paper, I simply stamped the sentiment from an Our Daily Bread Designs called Ornaments 2 within the wreath and embossed.  This is not one that will get sent out in an envelope, but is one that will be enclosed in one of the packages I need to send this season.

SUPPLIES I USED
Stamps: Our Daily Bread Designs – Ornaments 2
Paper: Recollections – Believe, Paper Pazzazz Velvet Paper, Expedx Brilliant White Cover
Ink: Versafine Onyx Black
Accessories: Recollections Pearl Brad, Embossing Powder

I hope you had a glorious weekend.  As I can, I’m busily working in the background on things that just make my heart sing!  Sharing soon :-)

We should follow our hearts shouldn’t we, rather than what fashion dictates or what others think? I too have a pack of velvet papers hidden away in my stash from years ago so I am just off to search it out. Love the card Becca and the very creative bow.ReplyCancel

What a lovely and festive bow! I wonder if you might know the whereabouts of Jerri Jimenez. She appears to be MIA since last May and I’ve missed her. I thought you might know if she’s alright.ReplyCancel

So delightfully different for Christmas. I love the velvet ribbon in the center of the loopy flower, it draws the whole colour scheme together beautifully.
You are a very talented lady, thank you so much for all the inspiration. I am so pleased to have found your blog, I spend ages just looking through your archive. Take care. Linda (S.Wales, UK)ReplyCancel

    Hi Becca,
What a beautiful card. I love every part of it. I can’t stamp for a while because of the surgery. When I can I will try this card.
