Twist Top Box

I know, I know, I’m ducking and running as I type this post.  So you remember this box?  Yes, I made several promises that it would be posted here with instructions.  I guess the only thing I had not anticipated was six months flying by, yikes.  Well the good thing is that we have several holidays coming up that cry out for this box.  My next projects will be to use this as an Easter Egg holder.  I wasn’t sure of the best way to do the instructions, so I have made a video that will be posted some time tomorrow – be sure to check back okay?

I knew exactly what stamps I wanted to use for this project and they were sent to me by my sweet friend Claire Brennan (stamp designer and paper engineer extraordinaire) with Waltzingmouse Stamps.  She knows how very much I love my Spellbinders templates and that clever lady has designed several of her stamp sets to match – they are "Nestie Friendly".  I’m using Very Vintage Labels 4 and as you see they make the perfect frame for my "windows".  The window pieces were cut with Spellbinders™ Labels 4 and Spellbinders™ Petite Ovals SM.  I also used several of the decorative stamps to frame motifs for the twist top of the box.  The banner on the front of each box is hand cut and I selected the perfect sentiment from another Waltzingmouse Stamp set called
Say It with Style – a set that was designed to take on a myriad of occasions.

I used the pages from one of the books I gutted for design paper – I love print paper!  I tucked four small pieces of cut paper, embellished with an EK Success Punch, into the top of the box to give it a little zip.  The handle is a simple as knotting a piece of lightweight ribbon and letting the knot catch when closing the box.  This approach calls for a light item inside but if you have something heavier you will need to attach the handle.

Project Recipe:
Stamps:  Waltzingmouse Stamps – Very Vintage Labels #4, Say It With Style
Paper:  The Paper Company, book pages
Ink:  Versamark and Ivory Embossing Powder, Colorbox Chalk Ink – Warm Red
Accessories:  Spellbinders™ Labels 4, Spellbinders™ Petite Ovals SM, EK Success Border Punch, Acetate, Buttons, Pearl Cotton, ribbon

So yes!!  I’m in the process of editing the video tutorial so be sure to keep an eye out for the post.  I’ve had lots of requests for this one and I’m tickled to finally be putting the final touches on it.

P.S.  Claire is another one of those wonderful, wonderful owners who wouldn’t hear of me trying to tackle her stamps while any hint of a crisis loomed over head – she made me vow to take care of important things first.  Oh gosh, she’s a real sweetie and  I adore her stamps . . . please give her a visit, for me :-)

There just aren’t words left (not already used) to express your indescribable talent, Becca! I went to Claire’s blog (as I OFTEN do) and have had several of her stamps on my Wish List for quite awhile now, only to find Labels 4 & 5 temporarily sold out — no big surprise as most ladies seeing your boxes would run & order them!!! Just keep on WOWing us — don’t ever stop!!! ;-)ReplyCancel
