Those Rare People

I just had to work with some different colors, but I still wanted to have and old vintage-y feel so I dug in my toss offs pile and came up with this shell of a card that was set aside some time ago.  The designer paper on the card isn’t really designer paper but comes from some card sets that Michaels clearanced out years ago.  The box that the cards came in is what caught my eye because I knew it would would in an altered project down the road — but inside there were eight different cards with different designer paper panels on the front and back.  Well, that was certainly my kind of salvage operation – I knew I could use everything from my clearance buy.

This is a new release from Quietfire Design called Friends are Those Rare People.   I positioned my sentiment on Spellbinders Labels Fourteen with Spellbinders Fancy Tags Three peeking out from behind.

SUPPLIES I USED
Stamps: Quietfire Design – Friends are Those Rare People
Paper: We R Memory
Ink: Versafine Onyx Black
Accessories: Pearls, Spellbinders Fancy Tags Three, Spellbinders Labels Fourteen, Recollections Crochet Doily, Lace, Recollections Swirl, Seam Binding distressed with Walnut Ink Stain, Gold Rimmed Pearl (Michaels),

Thanks for stopping by!!  Big, big hugs . . .

This is a great card….. don’t you just love finding clearance items you can totally reuse and repurpose !! The bottom half of this card caught my eye… i love the stripes with the lace you have used.. that is awesome lace!!! The smaller lace on the ribbon is pretty too… not sure what the border behind that is…but it is perfect.ReplyCancel

  • Karen LinarezMay 31, 2011 - 12:55 pm

I love the vintagey feel. The colors work well for vintagey not to mention the stripes with the wallpaper, and the “chair rail” feel to the layout. It’s all perfect. It actually reminds me of an old pizza restaurant back home that’s designed to look victorian, I’ll have to send you some pictures sometime. Many great memories there, you see, that was the teen hangout on Sunday nights after church when I was a teen (many moons ago), So your card gives me warm fuzzies!ReplyCancel

Oh wow, how clever you are to salvage these cards. I try to look at Michael’s ‘finds’ with “Becca’s eyes”, but I surely can’t imagine a result like you put forth. Way to go! Lovely card.ReplyCancel

I love the card. the combination makes is such that we can put a variety of things together and they look good. What does your heart want to say? I think that is what is important and what is the colors that is on your mind? Those two things can be very creative. Who says we have to always go with the status quo.?ReplyCancel

This is beautiful. So many of our younger crafters are into such wild “expressions of art.” Yet I find those who receive a more vintage looking card seem to keep them longer and display them more.
May I ask how you mail those with the bows and hat pins?ReplyCancel
