The Sweetest Friend

I just want to tell you that there are sweet people all around us . . . they are there and they bless us every day.  During one of my dips where I wasn’t feeling so hot and I was having a daily conversation with God about exactly how to get up on my feet and hold my head high . . .  out of the blue someone came into my life.  Just like all of you, she spoke words of encouragement that I grasped tightly, like a lifeline.  You often see her comments along with yours because as busy as she is, she stops by to say hi quite often.  My sweet friend Laura Campbell of Layers of Colors dropped me this set of stamps in the mail, with amazing intuition that belies her sweet character.  It’s a set that deals with encouragement.  Tears of joy!  I stamped a card with the set today and wanted to share the story behind it.  It’s days like this that make me thankful for everything, grateful for friends!  By the way, Laura is a busy Craft Product Designer and some new opportunities have opened up for her that call for some wonderful career adjustments – you can read more HERE  :-)  Because of this she’s put tons of stuff on clearance over at Layers of Color – you may want to check it out.  Smooches Laura!!!

For the card I created a focal panel by cutting a circle from Spellbinders™ Standard Circles LG and then cutting another off center circle using Spellbinders™ Standard Circles SM.  I applied some Zva Creative pearls inside the circular area..  I wanted to break up the circle a little bit so I ran a border behind them using Spellbinders™ Classic Scallop Edgeabilities.  The circle is edged by some straight lace that I had on hand, and I topped the design off with a bow and cameo (you can tell I love cameo’s right?)

By the way, so many of you wanted that Prima Paper, that I promised I would have more to give away – so here’s some Blog Candy.  This time it’s my favorite Prima Romantique – leave a comment on this post and I’ll be sending it to one of you picked by random.org on Monday, January 16th.  Feel free to stop by each day.

SUPPLIES I USED
Stamps: Layers of Color – Encouragement
Paper: Prima Romantique, Coredinations
Ink: Palette – Burnt Umber
Accessories: Spellbinders™ Standard Circles LGSpellbinders™ Standard Circles SM, Spellbinders™ Classic Scallop Edgeabilities, seam binding, ribbon, Bead Landing Cameo, Lace, Zva Creative Pearls

Now remember I told you I was working on top secret stuff!!  I’m so excited because it’s time for me to tell all . . . I’m going to spill the beans at midnight!!  I hope you’ll come back to see what has had me mums for months!  Just be sure when you come back, to read my post carefully – of course there will be prizes but you have to follow the instructions to a “T”!!  Once you have your entry all squared away, I look forward to hearing what you think of the new top secret stuff!!  I hope to see you later!

Hi Becca, as always an amazing card. I particularly like how you’ve used the lace to break up the sharp lines of the circles…. must try that…. it makes it look very elegant. Happy that someone made sure you had a special friend to provide you with the ‘chin up’ when you needed it most….funny how that always seems to happen. He’s there to care and look after us, if we let him.

Thank you for your daily inspiration and warm open heart.

Becca, such a very true felt card, besides being beautiful!! I remember taking forever picking out cards in the store, as the card had to fit the person, I would take forever reading them and picking out just the right card, sure I looked at the pretty cards and such, but it was more the sentiment that caught my eye, than just the look of the card. And it seems you are of the same mind set!! One can see that so easily in your designs!!
    A most wonderful card!!

What a lovely encouraging story of the stamp used for this beautiful sweet card. What would we do without our wonderful friends? Recently my very social hubby had major back surgery, basically on his back healing for 6 months. His friends never stopped sending cards, food, books and magazines and visiting. He has been so uplifted in their prayers, literally an army of pray warriors. We have been without such dear friends in years past and the difference is quite remarkable. They all point to the God that loves and that we are not alone. Heartfelt prayers for you, too!ReplyCancel

    Becca,

Friends like Laura are what I like to think of as our Angels on Earth. Your card is lovely. I remember seeing someone decorate a white tree and a pink tree with all sorts of Valentine’s themed ornaments. I saw this card and was thinking the recipient could use that as an ornament also…kind of the card that keeps on giving…thanks for the blog candy opportunity too-the papers are so pretty.ReplyCancel
