That’s My Story . . . Blog Candy

I dropped the ball!!  If you remember, back in March I was celebrating reaching 2 million page hits on my blog and I rolled out this plan for 4 blog candies to happen throughout the month.  Well I managed to get three of them done, but between all the design teams that were having celebrations and my celebration – I simply just ran out of time.  That’s my story and I’m sticking to it!

Several of you have written to me asking if I intend to do week 4 and the blind blog candy for the people who registered for Candy 1 – 4 that I describe HERE.  I’m so caught – so yes – without further ado, this is the fourth Blog Candy.  Since I fell flat on this promise, I added some prizes to the stash.  Am I forgiven?

Lots of goodies here, but I want to highlight that JustRite Stamps has graciously donated one of the new, new sets for inclusion in this giveaway.  This set is borders and centers, and although the wood mount is not included it can be found on the JustRite site here.

To be eligible for the blog candy all you need to do is leave a comment on this post telling me which product(s) I use that bring you back to my blog.   You can leave a comment every day if you wish until I close comments, and who knows when that will be.  I’ll choose the winner through Random.org and will post the winner here.  Remember to check back and see if you won; I’ll hold the prize for 48 hours for the winner to claim it (after 48 hours I’ll do random.org again and will pull another name until someone claims the prize).  All the winner needs to do is send me their address through my contact page at the top of my blog.

Thanks for helping me get back on track!!

ETA:  Yikes after reading my own post it almost sounds like I’m fishing for compliments (blush of severe embarassment).  I’m not looking for compliments but I am always amazed that people come back and further I am honestly trying to peg exactly what you’d like to see more of from the teams and tools I work with.  I wish I had been more skillful with my words – you all are amazingly generous with your time and kind words.

Hi Becca, I am from Australia so not sure whether I can enter for the candy, but thought I would tell you what keeps me coming back to your blog.
I get the FeedBlitz sent to my email everytime you update and I am simply amazed at your creativity. Your photography is great (something I really need to work on) and your use of colour and ribbons and those little touches are what keep me coming back. I found your blog through Splitcoast Stampers when looking at christian stamps – it intrigued me. So I guess I look to see what Our Daily Bread Design stamps you use (we dont have anything like that in Australia) – oh and also JustRite stamps although the whole process still confuses me…..lolReplyCancel

    Hi Becca
I’m so glad you’ve asked this particular question, because I’m dying to tell you! I was entranced by your art from the first day I found your blog, and I subscribed the same day. As the emails have continued coming through my Inbox, I have loved all of your posts, whatever products you have been promoting, whether Our Daily Bread, Spellbinders, Just Rite stamps or anything else. You have a style that I love. But the more I read your posts (and I read all of every post) the more it’s about you, and your sharing your faith that I come back for. I am interested to read about your life and what your faith means to you – I guess that’s why I particularly like your cards made with Our Daily Bread stamps. No matter how happy or peaceful our lives, there are always days when we could do with some encouragement, and I find encouragement and inspiration on your blog every day. I want you to know how much I appreciate you. Thank you Becca.

My main reason for returning to your site is the way you think of things to do with products that I would never come up with myself. Your work is so inspirational and AMAZING. I love when you use any Spellbinders, JustRite, punches, ribbon and Bible verse stamps. There are so many reasons I return and will continue to return. Thank you for the countless hours you spend on each project and for sharing them with me (us). God bless!ReplyCancel

Its difficult to pick just one thing that keeps me coming back here because I am so inspired by the overall look of your work. But I really do like the way you use the Nestabilities to create layered frames for your work – they are always so well done.ReplyCancel

Go ahead and blush! LOL You are fantastic! I don’t know how you come up with such different ideas in arranging things for your cards but I love them. I look forward to your web site everyday! Your use of the Nestiblities and ribbons are a work of art. I love the cards you make using Flourishes stamps and My Daily Bread designs. Thank you for being an inspiration!ReplyCancel

Becca – everything you do inspires me to come back. Can we say TALENT. I have purchased a number of the spellbinders, so I am always interested in what you create with them. I am now interested in adding some just rite stamps to my collection after seeing your projects. Of course our daily blessings can not be forgotten, as well as your ribbon…….and everything else you do.ReplyCancel

Would you like me to make something up? There is no one reason, or
one predominant product that brings me back to your site. It is your
    amazing talent and your style!

What you do with Spellbinders is so inventive. Your ribbons, pearls and paper beautiful, but it still comes down to your amazing talent!

Thanks for this wonderful opportunity Becca!ReplyCancel

  • ElissaMay 9, 2009 - 6:49 am

Hi Becca–I think the challenge here is trying to decide if there are any products that do not bring me back again and again to your blog. Let’s see, would it be the unique frames you make with corner punches, or the ones you make with the Nesties? Or could it be the fact that you actually stamp on the ribbon or that you taught me how to finally tie a bow that does look like a bow? Or maybe it’s those JustRite stamp sets that I seldom used until I saw how you use them. Okay, now I have decided. It is the ODB stamp sets. I have been able to make cards to bless people that I would not normally have even thought to make a card for. This blesses them and me!ReplyCancel

  • Helen ReitersMay 9, 2009 - 6:49 am

I know why you have had over 100 responses and it isn’t even 8:00 a.m. central. You inspire, you teach us, and you cheer us up with your abundance of beautiful cards and thoughts. Who could look at your cards and not smile? I love my ScorPal (and all available accessories) which I use for every card I make, I have over 2 dozen Nestabilities all on magnets in CD cases, Just Rite Stamps, more rubber stamps than I can count from various companies including many I have had to find on ebay because they are retired, my ribbons are neatly wrapped on little pieces of mat board, I have my notebook full of samples of all my punches, copic markers, glitter pens, ribbon samples that goes with me when I go shopping. I am then able to brighten the days of many people with cards inspired (or flat out copied) from you. With the exception of my ribbons and some of my rubber stamps I found all of the above following your blog all of these months.

    Thank youReplyCancel

Becca, no compliment-fishing implied. You are far, far too modest! Although the product you use that I always marvel at is obviously your thick, silky ribbons, they aren’t practical for me to use (no skill and difficult to mail). What does keep me coming back is your wonderful use of dimensional tape! An unsung hero, for sure– it does the job with style, but in doing it well, no one can see it!

I come back because you always have something fresh. I am fond of your use of Spellbinders. I have a JustRite set up I got at a class I took. It is the one that works with the ink pad flipping around, etc. Needless to say I don’t get it out to use it very often. So I am looking for justification to buy the wooden block(s). My question is would I use it enough to justify starting a new line of stamp accessories. You are convincing me. Love your stuff.ReplyCancel

There is not only one product that you use that keeps me coming back to your blog, it is several. I had never heard of Nestabilities, so first and foremost I had to purchase several of them. I am addicted now and can’t stop buying them. I think that they make every card pop and look extra special, whether it is a simple card or an elegant one. I have a Cuttlebug machine but I now use my embossing folders quite a bit more when making cards and, of course, there’s ribbon. I used to hoard it for a special card or for a special person. After seeing your cards I now use all the ribbons, embellishments, etc. for every card because every person receiving my cards is extra special. You truly are an inspiration and your cards are the most beautiful that I have ever seen.ReplyCancel

It does’t matter which stamps or which accessories you use… I keep coming back because of your talent in doing ‘out of the box’ designs with any of these items. You do the extraordinary with the products and that’s what gets my brain in gear. I read your blog to learn, and believe me, you are one of the best teachers. I wish some day, that I could meet you in person or sit in a class that you would teach. I also appreciate your blog style – focused on the art and techniques, with just a smidgeon of personal… great combo. I can’t fanthom how much time this takes you. I find it hard to balance a full time job and to carve some time on the weekends to work on cards. Good morning! Thank you for all your sharing! I don’t think there’s one product in particular that keeps bringing me back…. It’s the warmth and caring that comes through in everything you do. • RosetteMay 9, 2009 - 8:04 am

Well Becca.. that’s a tough question you asked. I just love everything that you use.. which almost all of them are so far away from my reach. But God gave us the gift of friendship, and some lovely people sometimes share with me their gifts, and their kindness. So I try to case a card or two of yours with the things I can use. You will find my present post on my Blog with one of these examples, and I linked my readers to you here. I told them that you are my inspiration when it comes to Bible themed cards :) It is so wonderfully true. Go and see the card I made on one of your beautiful creations. I’d be honored to have your comment there.
But what keeps me coming back is not that- it’s just you and the love you share for our Lord Jesus Christ. I feel that i have a “sister” here everytime I read your posts. Being consecrated to Him is the best “tool” I have in life.. a blessing in itself.
Hugs and congrats to the many hits. Obviously it would be a dream to own some of these goodies you have for grabs.

I just discovered you a few weeks ago — simply HAD to subscribe! I totally enjoy your writing style, which spiritually UPLIFTS me, and your handmade cards are FABULOUS!! In fact, I speak of your work OFTEN while with my scrappin’ partner — my daughter, Moriah.

Especially appealing is the way you layer embossed elements and add the PERFECT color-shading — and those LARGE bows!! Well, you are one TALENTED lady!! And, I get an adrenaline SURGE when my inbox displays that you have added to your blog!!

That recent patriotic card — WOW!!!ReplyCancel

If I have to “pick” something that sticks in my mind I do like the nestabilities (a lot) but what kept me coming back was what you do with the Daily Bread Stamps.
Keep up the GREAT work. You are an inspiration and a blessing to me.

What brings me back is your beautiful cards. I love all the products you use but it is your talent
that is unbelievably fantastic. No one looks at a painting by Michelangelo and says “Ohh what great
brushes he must have”. I feel the same way about your cards! I am intrigued by the JustRite stamp
system but don’t quite understand how it all works.ReplyCancel

SPELLBINDERS products of course… can’t tell you how many times I have bought the products you use to CASE a card you made. I visit your site to see what you’ve done with punches and the ODB stamps. I love your work too with the Spellbinders, although it really makes me want some reeeeeaaal bad! But, the biggest thing I like seeing is what you do with ribbon. You just always seem to do something with ribbon that gives the project that final perfect touch!ReplyCancel

Spellbinders was the first thing that brought me to your site, but wow when I saw your work I signed up to recieve your e-mails right away. There are so many things you do that I would love to purchase all the wonderful tools you use. I got a Wizard in Feb. of this year so I am still collecting dye’s for that, and you are always showing me yet another one I just have to have. LOL. I was so happy to see that there is a co. like ODB, this was the first time I had seen a company dedicated to christianity like this. They have some awesome stamp sets. Then the way you incorporate JustRite stamps in your work is fantastic, what a gift you have. I have just reciently purchased my first set and can’t wait to start playing with it, you can be sure I will be trying to follow your inspiration! Thank you for sharing all your love of art and the Lord with us, God Bless you. So to answer your question it is not just one company it is the way you put them all together that is so unbelievably beautiful. Which of course means that anything you create we are going to oooooh and aaaaaaah over and give a great big Waaaaaa Whoooooo over what ever blog candy we win.

P.S. I have to tell you this, the first time I saw your picture I thought wow she looks like a young Della Reece. You are both extremely talented and beautiful woman. I pointed this out to a friend of mine (who gets your blog as well) and she agrees with me.ReplyCancel

You do NOT appear to be fishing for compliments…lol..I think that question is great as this way we get to see more of what we like the most :)
I personally am addicted to nestibilities. Ever since purchasing my first set (not all that long ago), I’ve been a constant in our local paper craft store in the small city that I live in. I LOVE them…they can be used in so many ways. Secondly I LOVE paper punches…those were my first addiction, and I’m finding so many great ways to use them. They are so versatile. The elegance you achieve is what I strive for in my card-making. I am addicted to your blog – when you don’t post, I panic!

In addition, I have discovered new ways to use the Nesties. My particular favorite is the octagon – and the scalloped octagon, which I have on order. WOW!!! great blog candy. Thanks for the chance to win. I can’t choose just one item that keeps me coming back. I come back for everything from your imagination and creativity to your use of nesties and stamps and who can forget those amazing bows you put on your cards.
    Bye for nowReplyCancel

Glad to hear from you again…something must have happened with the programs several of you put out your blogs under…I used to get more blogs each day? I am glad you are back in my inbox again. Your work is what keeps me coming back!!! You are so talented! Whatever you do I enjoy seeing and being inspired…I have a BigKick and have only one set of spellbinders, the ovals which I am not sure if I put through my machine correctly or not…I used my mat from the texture plates instead of buying the two tan mats…was that correct to do? Thanks for any advice on that. Would love to win another set. Love the ODB stamps too! Thanks for a chance to win!ReplyCancel

    Hi Becca
It is so difficult to find one thing that brings be back to your blog. I love your inspitational themes and I love what you do with nesties, and when I first found you you had done a video on bow making….I still refer to that. At Christmas time I made that beautiful card you made with the three wisemen and it had the purple ribbon and a stick pin. that was a real prize. Thanks so much for sharing all you wonderful ideas. Happy day!ReplyCancel

Your creative use of Nestabilities brings me back to your blog on a daily basis. You often use them in ways I never imagined and your tutorials really help simplify a project.

Thanks for the help and inspiration you’ve given me since I first discovered your blog (can’t remember when that was though).

  • Teri FrankMay 9, 2009 - 11:31 am

I check your blog daily – I find it very inspiring and am struggling to choose one thing that keeps bringing me back. It’s really a tie between the Justrite stamp sets because they are so very versitile, and the creative way you use the spellbinders dies (especially the medallion with the floral accents die).

Thanks for the opportunity to win blog candy!

    TeriReplyCancel

  • MelanieMay 9, 2009 - 11:34 am

I am so amazed with the ways you use Nestabilities (for example using a flourish to create a medallion) and really appreciate the tutorials. I didn’t know about Just Right stamps and Our Daily Bread Designs before and just love what you do with these products. I can’t get the little charms and embellishments you use where I live, and would love it if anyone knows an on-line source for those items. Your cards are such beautiful works of art!ReplyCancel

I check your blog daily to see what new and innovative way you’re using products I may have. I first started following it when you were doing your awesome cards using the Cuttlebug embossing folders on SCS. I’ve enjoyed following whatever you’re doing, because you show us how to use a product beyond its usual use, like you do with the corner punches, border punches, and nestibilities. Helps us get more mileage out of our tools. You’ve opened up a whole new avenue to travel down with the Justrite stamps. You inspire us to try things we might not have tried otherwise. I also like your choice of stamp companies that you use. I see the cards you make using the Our Daily Bread Designs stamps as a silent ministry all their own. I’m sure your ‘outside the box’ way of thinking is what has earned you your well-deserved places on all the design teams you are on. Thanks for letting us share in all you do on your blog.ReplyCancel

I love punches of all kinds shapes & borders and I like ribbons as well, so therefore you can tell you always have something I like. I was so excited with the card and bouquet made with coner punches (heart EKSuccess). I called my cousin and told her to go to your site.
    And Now…..
Shh..(just between us girls) since I have found your site now spellbinders is my new addiction. You are truly an inspiration, keep the ideas coming…. I love them

LOL — Becca, it’s not the products we come back for every day — it’s the amazing talent in YOU. We’re here because you see something beautiful in blank sheets of cardstock and create these amazing things!

If you’re going to make me pick a product, I’ve really learned a lot about how versatile the Nestabilities are from you – you’ve done things I never would have thought of!

I was also a big fan of the corner punch frames — then stupid manufacturer changed them, and now I can’t figure out how to pull off the same effect.

Anyway, keep it up, and thanks for continuing to share your work with us!

I’m a newbie at this papercrafting (about 1 year now), but have fallen hard for this art. My neighbor told me about SCS and have been amazed at all the wonderful cards and projects. Now I’ve slowly built up some stock so as to be able to create without too much limitation. Being not much into blogging, I didn’t veer off into various blogs, until recently, I loved your cards and visited your site, then bookmarked it. I just received my first set from Just Rite Stamps. (Now I need another set of nestabilities). And now I’ve made my first blog :). I’m amazed at what you all do, keep up the great inspirations. Thanks, CarrieReplyCancel

I’ve been thinking a bit more about why I enjoy your blog and your creations so much. I realized that although you have favorite items to work with, you are not wedded to any single manufacturer or company. For example, I quickly lose interest (and patience) with strictly Stampin’ Up! blogs, as I don’t care for those products. You use a bit from many different sources, which makes everything fresh and interesting. Well done! And Happy Mother’s Day, too!

    Hello Becca
I don’t know what to say because I have never left your blog.. I wait for every post you make…I have your feedblitz subscription and just wait to see what you’re coming up with next. The tools are all great but its your creativity that makes the tool what its can be! All of those companies need to stand in line for you to endorse them! If I have to choose, I love the Spellbinders…. but the JustRite’s… here it is — I was not enthusiastic about JustRite stuff when I saw them used in other blogs or sites where they were endorsed or advertised until I saw what you have been creating with them. “YOU” are the talent behind the tools. And Becca, you don’t ever fish for compliments – no, no.. don’t think that way. We all see how humble and modest that you are in your dialogue with us! Please don’t apologize. I am grateful for your inspiration. I know that much of my work, created by me has some of your flair and inspiration behind it. Once in awhile I scraplift something, like your cream and white birth announcement cards, and full acknowledgement is given to you! Keep up the good work my friend, I know that this is busy and time consuming work but the beauty and joy that you share through your work is critical during these times. Happy Mother’s Day Becca and keep on keepin on! kathy from CanadaReplyCancel

This is my third post LOL but there are so many items you use that inspire me that I figured I’d post one item daily for my extra chances to win such an awesome candy selection! Ribbon, ribbon, ribbon … I just love how you use ribbon on your projects and the different sizes and textures too! I always used smaller ribbon for bows and strips and things, but to see you use the wider ribbon really makes my creative juices flow and the fear of using the wider ribbon go floating away. I actually went out and purchased some wider ribbon to try on some projects and will certainly use your bow tying technique tutorial to do so :)ReplyCancel

Now Becca, I spoke yesterday about your work with Spellbinders and JustRite. I mean, the JustRite products did nothing for me until I saw how you enhanced their product. NOw I am sold on them and have ordered some. I now have some exquisite ideas myself… Today, in my dialogue for the chance to win I want to talk about your work with the Flourishes and Our Daily Bread stamps and their products. When I first visited your blog, you were working mainly with Flourishes stamps and Our Daily Bread designs. Your creativity lights up those designs. I like what you are doing with the Copics now to enhance your stamping! I am dabbling with Copics and I look forward to taking some lessons to begin to use them properly. Love, love, love your work. ThanksReplyCancel

I think I’m too late for the blog candy – but just wanted to add my contribution and if I thought that you were fishing for compliments – I wouldn’t have botheres. Please note that this is my first ever response to any Blog.

Good grief Becca, it not the ‘stuff’ you use – it’s you and your amazing talent, that keeps us coming back for more.

I look at many and various bogs because I enjoy all sorts of different types of crafting, but yours is one of the very few that has the ‘WOW’ factor for me. Your designs regularly stop me in my tracks.

You are such an inspiration for me, on so many levels. The way you build a design to the next level, the way you mix and match elements, and the new twists you will give to a simple embellishment. Your designs are the reason I bought a Spellbinders Wizard – because you showed me what potential it had – but you do the same for a simple piece of ribbon.

What can I say – you are my Yoda! Keep up the great work.
    Thanks
