Success

Single Tied Bow

Hi there!!  I’m moving a piece of furniture in my studio so you cannot begin to imagine the mess in which I’ve been trying to work.  I joke with Hubby that my studio is much like that hand held puzzle where you have 16 slots and 15 numbers that you have to slide around to get them in ascending order.  To move one item causes a chain reaction!!  So for this card I’m keeping it simple and have made a graduation card that will come in handy for a young lady I know.  I have to say that there is not one pop dot on the whole card and the layers are very simple!!

Success Card in Sleeve

Basically this is a flat pocket card that fits into an envelope.  Up above the scallops, which I cut with Spellbinders™ Big Scalloped Borderabilities® Petite, the word “success” peeks out and the stunning vellum gives a great idea of what lies inside.  There is wired ribbon tied on the outside of the pocket and I created a medallion to cinch the bow using Spellbinders™ Blossom Two, the companion piece from Spellbinders™ Eyelets Pendant and the companion piece from Spellbinders™ Lotus Pendant.  A hole was cut in the center of two of the pieces and one of the pieces already has a hole – simply the ribbon was threaded through and the bow tied.  For the inside of the card both swirl and sentiment were stamped and layered on pink cardstock so that only the word success appears.   The card is roughly 5″ x 7″ and fits into an A7 envelope.

Success Card Out of Sleeve

This is a little bit of a departure for me, but I love the simplicity. My cards usually open with a top fold, for this one, I’ll simply jot my best wishes on the back.   I created an A7 envelope and instead of gluing the envelope so that the flap opens the long way, I turned it to open the short way.  To send this off, I’ll flatten the ribbon a little bit and slip it in the envelope then slip the protected card in to a little bubble wrap mailer and off it goes.

Card Recipe:
Stamps:  Retired PSX – Success
Paper:  Bazzill, Vellum – It Takes Two
Ink:  Versafine – Onyx Black
Accessories:  Spellbinders™ Big Scalloped Borderabilities® Petite, Spellbinders™ Blossom Two, Spellbinders™ Eyelets Pendant, Spellbinders™ Lotus Pendant, Vellum glue, Ribbon

Thanks so much for stopping by!!

Beautiful soft and inviting, a perfect Spring card! I hadn’t thought of using vellum with a pocket card. Now that’s a wonderful idea! Rearranging my studio is the same way – one thing leads to another LOL I’d love to see it when you’re all done!ReplyCancel

It IS good to hear that I’m not the only one… I’ve been delaying adding and/or changing storage units because of the difficulty and turmoil getting materials back in some reasonable order. My husband says it’s not because I don’t have enough room. It’s because I have ‘too much stuff!” Can you imagine!! Anyway, another beautiful card and a great variation from the standard card. I appreciate hearing how you mail your cards with their gorgeous ribbons.ReplyCancel

Delightful card and the colors are “So Spring” This card would also look nice as a regular card not just a pocket card.
    Thanks for sharing
I don’t have the luxury of a dedicated craft room. The table in my dinette area is where I eat, stamp, do other crafts , sew, fold laundry and pay bills LOL
I have to put everything away the minute I finishing using it . I would love to be able to leave a project on the table and close the doorReplyCancel

This must be shake up your craft room week ’cause I’m in the same boat but I sure didn’t make any cards to compare to yours! That is sooo pretty with the flowered vellum and I love the idea of the card inside not opening since it cuts down on the bulk if you mail it.
    Thanks for sharing! :o)ReplyCancel

My studio is still in the planning stages, my “scrap crap” as hubby calls it, is all over the house. LOL! Good luck :)

anyway…this card is GORGEOUS!!, and the young lady will most likely save it forever in her year book or scrapbook, because of the Emerson piece you selected, and the SUCCESSFUL card that it is in :)

    Just Lovely!

What a beautiful card! I love the idea of a vellum pocket, but even better is that medallion for the bow. What a great idea! And, as is so you, the bow is so dreamy. I’ve been looking for wider silk ribbon now because of you, love those bows. What kind of paper do you make your envelopes out of, and what size did it take to do a flipped one that size?ReplyCancel
