With Love – New Cuttlebug Border

by on July 28, 2008

This is the last set of Cuttlebug borders that I have not shown, so I made an additional card so that you could see the With Love set.  It is made up of flowers, swirls and dots.  I lined up two of the borders vertically and ran them through my cuttlebug then repeated the first border again.  The card sentiment was stamped in two parts so that I could have text above and then below the embossed vellum With Love strip.  The stamped panel is then layered onto a piece onto Cucumber shimmery cardstock and embellished with pearl brads and ribbons.  Lastly a strip of cucumber cardstock was punched with a Martha Stewart Scallop punch and popped up over the main images and finished off with grosgrain ribbon.   The with love vellum sentiment is lightly chalked so that it will pop a little.

Thanks so much for stopping by.   Happy Stamping!

Frills and Just My Type – New Cuttlebug Embossing Borders!

by on July 27, 2008

Well, I thought I would take a break from the Cuttlebug stuff, but I received a couple of emails requesting to see the borders, so here you are!   This card includes 4 separate borders – three from the Frills set and one from the Just My Type Set.  Although they are easy to use, I found out very soon that it takes extra caution to get them lined up straight – I used tape to secure them.  The embossed lines you see framing the sentiment were done on the Scor-Pal.  I embossed all elements at once then with my stampajig lined up the lines of text from my sentiment stamp.  I used Fabriano Acquarello Watercolor paper for the base card and embossing; it is popped up on coral shimmery cardstock from The Paper Company.   The header border is punched from the Martha Stewart Scallop Punch (this one might be my favorite) and it is done on both sides to break up the monotony of the square card.  Lastly, the butterfly is made from another Cuttlebug set that cuts, then embosses the butterfly – how cool is that!!

If there is something in particular you’d like to see, please don’t hesitate to ask.  Just send me a comment or email.   Some have asked questions and I’m slowly working my way through email – thanks for being patient, I’ll get to you in the next day or so.  Thanks so much for all the wonderful comments!

Houndstooth – New Cuttlebug Embossing Folder!

by on July 26, 2008

Can you tell that I’m having a ball working with these new folders?  I neglected the old ones so I’m really excited to have something new to play with and I’ve enjoyed the challenge trying to do something different, not anticipated, with each one.  Of all the folders (believe it or not), this one really had me stumped.  When you think of houndstooth, you think of dark colors, fall attire, perhaps a masculine flavor.  After coloring up a few samples on dark colored paper, I decided to do the houndstooth in pink!!  I felt it would be a fair companion to the little boy card I did a couple of days ago.

As with the other samples this week, I decided to use chalks – even for the little girls dress.  I wanted the card and images to appear soft and I think that’s an easy order to fill with chalks.  Again, for the clean simple look I used Fabriano Acquarello watercolor paper layered with a pink metallic cardstock.   I used another Fiskar border to make the top seem like a lacy valance and embellished with small white pearls and finally, ribbon.

Bless you today and through the weekend.  I hope you find and embrace joy in your living.
