Oops, You Caught Me . . .

. . . sneaking in another prize for this weeks Blog Candy.  You see, what happened was I totally intended for there to be two prizes.  But, when it came time to get the second prize from my woefully upturned studio, I could not find it.  I looked and  looked and well, if you could just see the place right now, you’d understand (shakes head).  Luck was on my side today and tucked away in a place that totally did not make sense, the whole stack lived 3 feet away from where I sit!   What stacks you say?   Well, stacks of thick, new double sided Prima design paper from their Printery Collection – eight different double sided sheets.   So throw your hat on into the ring; leave a comment on this post telling me what you’d like to make with this wonderful Prima paper.

Since I now know my way around Ancestry.com pretty well – my sister, my mom and me have been getting our family tree in order and I’ve learned more this year about my family than I knew before.  It almost seems a shame that all the information lives in the computer so I want to put together a little dossier of the head of each branch of our family tree.  I think the vintage document look of Printery will be perfect.   As with the other Candy, I’ll take comments on this until midnight CST on January 5th and will pull a name on Friday,  January 6th.  Feel free to leave one comment each day if you’d like to.

I’ll have another post tomorrow morning at 9:00am with another new die template that I’m really excited to share!!   I hope you’ll come back to visit!!

Oh my I have totally had my eye on these papers for a whole now! I have been (unfortunately) away from my crafting table for a few weeks due to the holidays and have been seriously itching to get back to my table! SO… With that being said there is a few things I have in mind for this paper! One is a tray I’m working on for my mother, I think this line would be perfect for that! And I also have a paper mâché box that’s about oh I think like 4×6 or somewhere near those specs that I’d like to decorate up to keep my smaller crafting materials that I need close to me and of course a card would be beautiful made with this line!! So glad you were able to find these becca = )
    Thanks much,

Oh that’s so wonderful to hear about your family tree. I’ve been researching mine for over 20+ years. And in contacting various family members, some of which I’ve never met, I’ve received all sorts of pictures, scans and stories of many of the people within those things. It’s so interesting what you find out and to receive pictures even your parents forgot about or never seen is beyond words. :) My fathers family even has a hard back book that goes back centuries. I hope you have as much fun researching as I have. when you hit a rough spot don’t give up. One never knows how they will find that missing person or what will lead you to a new one. :)ReplyCancel

Anyway it was lovely to sign on to my PC and see such pretty papers from you. In all the time I have been visiting your blog, I can only see that you are a generous lady. I, too, have been researching my family tree, and BOY have I found out some stuff!! The name my grandfather had gone by all his life, and the name on his tombstone, is not the name he was given at birth. I guess his grandfather, who came here from Ireland, had a hand in naming him, and no one could pronounce it, so they made an American version of his name. The paper would be great for scrapping my family history on all four sides of my family. There are some real characters that need their history remembered.
Thanks Becca for sharing all your greatness.ReplyCancel

Because of it, I have connected with so many family members. I, also, love Ancestry.com. The wealth of information is immeasurable. But, don’t discount the Family History Library. I’m not Mormon, but they have been wonderful at sharing their information with me. Some info that I’ve gotten through FHL is not avail at Ancestry. com. Here I go again trying to think outside the box and what am I doing looking inside a box again. lol

Yummy! This is really perfect for a book about my family ancestry, I even still have all of the old copies of photos laying around. I’m thinking maybe one of those old-fashioned photo albums with the cut out pockets that you see in antique stores. So pretty!ReplyCancel

Craft room–did someone mention craft room? I have been moving ‘stuff’ out of this tiny space (my son’s old b-room–only big enough for captain’s bed, chest of drawers and desk) and reorganize what is office (business and ancestry.com dabbling) and scrapbooking/cardmaking. Wool stash and old games being moved to basement and using closet for scrapbooks and,,,and,,,well, I get to that today. There’s no room to move!!! Anyway, love the Prima lines of paper. I have so many heritage photos–my grandma was 96 when she passed and I am the one who inherited her photos (which were passed down to her). And, Becca, your designs are so beautiful–I check out your projects daily. Have chattered on enough must get to the day’s work! TTFNReplyCancel

    What beautiful papers!
I just finished scanning all of my husband’s parent’s photos so all the siblings and grandchildren can at least have a computer copy (it took me a year to complete this – a bit at a time!).
Now I am working on a photo album of my husband’s family. I wish we had written done more stories and info when his parents were alive but better to start now than never!
I would use the papers in the scrapbook (being careful to use both sides when possible!)- thank you for the opp!ReplyCancel

Where have I been, just discovered your web site. I feel like a “gold miner,” and have struck it rich (Wow Hoo ).

As a story teller, family history is very important to me. All of us should tell our story to the new generation of family members. I embrace technology to the fullest but letter writing has been lost, remember the telegram (the what????).

So to preserve some of the past for the future, I would love to share stories, pictures, recipes etc with these papers when telling our family story, also to encourage and help others when I serve as a community service volunteer.

With inspiration and thanks to U Becca,

Thanks to a tip on your website, I do stop every now and then and clean up a bit. It actually serves to inspire me because I find things I had forgotten I had and think of new ways to use them. Don’t let any of the comments here deter you from sending me more if my name should come up! There’s always room for more, right? I share my area with storage shelves that hold all my Christmas decorations totes, which are all scattered around the basement right now as I try to get things put away. And I’ve actually got to find somewhere else to store some of that stuff ’cause my scrapping supplies have taken over at least 1/2 of my shelf area.

This paper pack would make a wonderful start to the leather-bound scrapbook I have purchased and ready to begin for my father. His mother (my Nonna) is still alive – she turned 96 this past October and I want to try and capture as many of her memories of life with her husband. He was killed in WW2 in Russia when my dad was only 2, hence family items are very hard to come by. It would be nice to have a pretty family record for my dad to browse through at his leisure without having to dig all over the place for the few odds and ends he does have. I’m sure my nonna will be gone soon too, which makes this project that much more urgent.

    Thanks for the opportunity!ReplyCancel

Becca, Do yourself a favor and don’t limit yourself to just Ancestry dot com, as there is a WEATLTH of information out there now, thanks to the INTERNET, I started doing Genealogy about 1970 and I have back beyond the 1700’s on a few of my family lines, I have so enjoyed doing the research, and of course when I started I went to the libraries to do the research and even spent a week out at the Mormon library in Salt Lake City and did non stop research for a week, and now that the INTERNET is here, it is so much easier for the at home person to do some research, but it never compares to going to the place where you are researching, some day I hope to get to Nova Scotia Canada to visit where my Irish Ancestors came in through during the 1800’s, and to Ireland itself to visit where my great grandmother lived, it is so exciting to come across ones ancestors, to see a story written about them, or to see a will written by them, I have met some very distant relatives. It can be so exciting.
And these papers would make some excellent layout back drops, I started out doing layouts and scrap booking, but switched to card making, now I do BOTH!!
Thanks for your inspiration and your generosity!!
    Hugs
    Donna

I found your blog late in the year and was overwhelmed by your spirit which evidences itself in such beauty! I am especially drawn to your creative approach to spellbinders with touches of lace and pearls or gems. It makes me think of the French Hand Sewing I used to do before my hands aged with time :(. They aren’t what they used to be. I wonder have you been into the needle arts. It was very difficult to just narrow down to one per row. Everything is so beautiful in its originality. I listed by row/item
    1/1 , 2/1, 3/1, 4/2, 5/2, 7/1, 8/2, 9/3, 10/3 Have a great new year ahead> I wish you the best and look forward to your posts!ReplyCancel

I think I really must check out Ancestry.com. After I lost my mum it brought it home how much I had lost. I still think – oh I’ll ask mum she’ll have that info – but it’s not to be. I think this will be really great project to get my teeth into.ReplyCancel

My sister and Brother-in-law have been doing a fantastic job on the Genealogy of our families, indeed it has really inspired my father to get involved too. We came across a picture of my Grandmother when she was a child and I’ve discovered why my mother used to say I reminded her of her mother – I didn’t quite know if that was a good thing or not ;) I have some great photos that these papers would really add depth to. Thanks for the opportunity Becca – much appreciated.ReplyCancel

    Becca,
Love todays card it is so darn pretty, can’t wait to get my order from Just Rite, I love this die!!
Anyway, the more I look at this packof papers, I think you are so right, it would make an awesome layout for generations, I have been putting off doing some of my layouts as I have a lot of OLD information and photos to incorporate and have just not come across the right papers, unitl now, to use.
I have a lot of old tin type photos to use, and to me they would look perfect here with this line, you are so generous to do this! I think too that they would make great framed pictures, cover a frame and then put the photos in and add some bling to the frame, so many things are coming to mind.
    Thanks for sharing your generosity.
    Hugs

My sister is the “Keeper of the Tree.” She looooves Ancestry.com, and has spent much time researching our family tree. If I won these papers, I’d do something cool with it, with some of the old, old pictures she’s given me copies of. Maybe an album of ancestors.ReplyCancel

  • Carol FroehlichJanuary 5, 2012 - 7:11 pm

I am scrapbooking the lives of my parents and these papers would be just PERFECT for some of the pages. I haven’t been on Ancestry.com yet and not sure I will because I was able to find records through Ellis Island and other places within Hungary (which is where my grandparents migrated from). My cousin had a subscription to Ancestry.com and she wasn’t able to find much about her father’s side of the family, but was successful with her mothers. Have lots of fun!!!
