One More Day :-)

Almost there :-)  Lol, I never realized how long three days would seem when this kicked off, but thankfully I’ll be able to share with you tomorrow.   In the meantime to recap, I have a secret to share with you on the morning of August 15th and to make it fun I’m offering blog candy of a $35.00 gift card that will go to a random commenter from 8/12, 8/13 and 8/14. You can leave one comment on each of these posts and the winner will be announced on Wednesday as well.  A slight change today, instead of it being about me, let’s make it about you – leave a comment saying what gift you give or receive from crafting. Mine is the fabulous friendships I’ve made far and wide (received), and the awesome power of kind, faith-filled words (give).  There are many more but I’ll keep it short because I’d much rather read what you all have to say :-)

I even have a card to share today :-)  I’ve had this piece of designer paper from Yellow Bicycle on my desk for a while and I made myself use it!  It’s not often that I deal with such a bold blue, navy blue and I really had to hunt for the right in color.  Here’s how I stacked my layers.  On the bottom I started out with Spellbinders™ Floral Ovals (I cut the oval in half and spread it so that I could have a bigger size base); my next layer is Spellbinders™ Grand Decorative Ovals One.  For my next layer I used a matching JustRite Custom Die/Matching Stamp combination with JustRite Antique Labels One and the matching stamp set Royal Antique Labels One.  This combination fit perfectly so I selected another JustRite Custom Die Set/Stamp Combination of Antique Tags One Dies and the sentiment from Antique Autumn Tags One stamp set.   Typically I would do this combination of dies in a horizontal layout card but then thought by turning the last set, it would add some visual interest.

SUPPLIES I USED
Stamps/Custom Dies:  JustRite Papercraft –  Antique Labels One Royal Antique Labels One, Antique Tags One Dies,  Antique Autumn Tags One
Paper: Little Yellow Bicycle, Neenah Classic Crest Natural White, Coredinations
Ink:  Chipped Sapphire Distress Ink
Accessories: Spellbinders™ Grand Decorative Ovals OneSpellbinders™ Floral Ovals,  Recollection Pearls, Lace

It’s been a hoot hanging out the last couple of days!  Some of the comments were sooo funny.  Like I said, you all have taught me a thing or two about dreaming big!!  I have lots of design team releases this month so hang on, I love playing around with new things.   Thanks for stopping by, and I hope to see you tomorrow!!

Love your card. The blue bow is really nice. I like to give cards or make boxes. I really like to make something that is not so ordinary. Like I see on your blog sometimes. Lots of inspiration from what you create.ReplyCancel

This is another gorgeous card, Becca! I love that rich, Navy ribbon. My guess for today is that you will be travelling to a lot of craft conventions demonstrating your peg bow maker!ReplyCancel

First I would like to say I am a child of GOD also! The thing of crafting that I would give would have to be various supply’s and cards that I have made.I would also offer to help anyone learn how to craft.I am also the decorating person at our church, somehow someway I always manage to come up with ideasReplyCancel

Hi Becca, beautiful card today. I love the bold colors and as usual you have given me a great idea in cutting the spellbinder in half. I know, you have done this in the past, but it never hurts to remind us. In fact, that is my greatest gift received–the fact that you and others in the craft world share your talent–it sparks my creativity tremendously. Hey, could that be your new endeavor–you are going to get your Gallery up and running? Hmmm? That would be awesome!!! Can’t hardly wait for the announcement tomorrow. Have a blessed day!ReplyCancel

  • ChristineAugust 14, 2012 - 9:17 am

I love the old-fashioned feel of this card. The colors and lace are simply fabulous!

To answer your question about what I receive from crafting……Last week, my husband came home from work stating that the next day a co-worker would have a birthday and he’d not purchased a card. I had a wonderful time crafting a card to the gentleman’s taste. My husband shared with me that the recipient showed the card to everyone in the office saying, “Look what Christine made for me.”

It is so much fun to craft and to be a blessing to others. It shows, in a very special way, that deliberate care was taken to remember or to encourage.

Thanks for the inspiration and techniques you provide through APG.ReplyCancel

To give for me is pure JOY and LOVE. Joy because it brings joy to my heart to make something by hand and with every creation I pour as much love as possible into what I create. To receive I have to say mutual love because I know that the gifts I receive are made because another friend loves the craft as much as I do and it was made with as much love as we can possibly pour into our card designs. Therefore, it equals into great friendships made along the way.ReplyCancel

    Becca,

Can’t wait until tomorrow and your “reveal”! You have me waking up at night wondering what to expect!

I have found, since finding your blog, that I absolutely LOVE making cards. I doubt that would be the case if I had not found YOU! You are an inspiration to me. I am completely in awe of your creativity.

As for the gift I get out of making something creative, all I can say is that it blesses my heart to have someone say that THEY were blessed by receiving a card. This is my therapy; a reliever of stress. I enjoy thinking of the person to whom I will send a card and finding just the right colors for them. Truly, each card is special because the PERSON is special!

YOU have made this possible and now my heart sings each day!

    Love,
    RheaReplyCancel

Becca, this blue and white card is stunning. Of course, ALL your creations are stunning, but this color combo just makes this one particularly so. I receive the gift of peace through my crafting. It helps to quiet my soul with the added benefit of giving a special something to someone special when the card or project is complete.ReplyCancel

  • Charlotte ZweigoronAugust 14, 2012 - 9:25 am

This is not a one-sentence-answer type of question, Becca. New friends and wonderful comments are very special to me, as well. However, I have had a creative urge all of my life and no real outlet emerged until I discovered paper crafting. Drawing is a struggle for me, painting is out of the question, home decorating and gardening are outside my budget. The second crafting venture that I do indulge, miniatures, is also a bit pricey. Paper crafting can be as expensive or inexpensive as you make it and, somehow, it just seems to roll out of me in a way that pleases me. Sharing and inspiration abound in this crafting community. Support for each others efforts comes as naturally as breathing in this community. I feel I have found a home for the deeper part of me as long as I care to stay. This is not something I have found in relationships or in the work place in my 67+ years. Can you even imagine what it means to me?ReplyCancel

Gorgeous~gorgeous card you tease you! I feel when I am crafting I am giving a piece of myself, as I try to put love into each piece, I feel the same way when I receive a handcrafted item from someone, it has a piece of themselves in it…I can remember years ago my Mom made a silk small poinsettia tree for the craft fair at her church, stating that “us girls” (my sister and I) got all the crafting talent…she was upset that no one was buying her little tree, so, unbeknowns to her, I purchased it and she was so happy it “was gone”….I still have it…a piece of her…I will keep it forever, and I have written a little note with it, explaining it all, so the day I am gone, hopefully my daughter will treasure it too…my Mom is 85, and I think that tree is 40 years old now …thats what crafting means to me…a piece of yourself!!ReplyCancel

    Hey Becca
Another Stunner – Wow! Love the design elements here also — navy and cream is sooo elegant!
I was online when your blog feed came through… haha — you also have a gift for turning it over on us too eh? This is alot of fun Becca and I can hardly wait to see what you have in store for us – whatever it is I know I will love it!! As for my crafting – the gifts I recieve and give are many and the ability to get into this wonderful hobby of mine allows for an amazing balance in my life. I have been enriched with many wonderful friends and relationships directly resulting from my involvement in the scrapbooking and cardmaking movement. I teach workshops a small scale with a local scrapbooking store and I love to share my gifts with others and help inspire them to let their creative spirits soar!! So much more — too much for this post. Thanks Becca for turning it on us to share our stories…kReplyCancel

  • Beth GrecoAugust 14, 2012 - 9:35 am

Gorgeous, Gorgeous, Gorgeous!! Love this card.

What do I get from card making. I love pondering the special thing that the recipient would like… their favourite colour, topic, flower etc. Sometimes it’s the message inside… sharing in their sorrow or joy… encouragement to keep going… special gifts that I see in them. So I guess my greatest joy comes from the blessing that “hug with a fold” gives to someone.ReplyCancel

  • JanieAugust 14, 2012 - 9:35 am

Gorgeous card – – as usual; we would expect no less from you. For the me gift of making cards is two-fold – – I receive the gift of satisfaction when I make a card, and my recipient receives the gift of my labor of love. You can give nothing worth any more than your time and love. Just being able to create and share my creations is gift enough for me. Can’t wait till the BIG announcement – and thanks for giving a chance to win…you are the BEST!!!ReplyCancel

  • Anna/OmaAugust 14, 2012 - 9:36 am

Gift I receive or give from crafting – I would have to say that I receive the gift of satisfaction and joy I feel when I create a card for someone special. I am now making large ( 5 x 7) cards for all of my co-workers. I had to make the cards large to have enough space inside for the other co-workers to add their birthday wishes. I just finished making one not too long ago so I will need to take a picture and post it to my blog. I can’t use too many layers or layered embellishments as then people would not be able to sign the card inside.

My guess for today is that you will be designing dies for Spellbinders to go with the stamps and sentiments that you also create for them.ReplyCancel

Good Morning, Becca, I love your gorgeous blues, perhaps because it one of my favorite colors. Just beautiful. My homemade cards are a touch of love to friends and family. Family lives in Australia, and New Zealand, with grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Friends around the world as well. This is a way of blessing them, and their responses are a blessing back to me as well. God is so good, he keeps us closer with His gift, of sharing homemade cards and sentiments. Miles mean nothing, but love does. And this craft is a gift of love……thanks for your inspiration of love a gift to us.ReplyCancel

My gifts are absolutely self-serving: I receive joy! When I am in my studio, alone, I get completely involved in making art. I lose myself in design and beauty and all the worry, angst, pain goes away. When I am with friends, I receive an overwhelming gift of sister-hood and the wonderful synergy there is when we are all creating together. I do find if I do not make time for my craft, I have a hard time concentrating, lean toward depression and become very vexing and cranky. So, in reality, disappearing into my own little art world is giving all those around me — some peace!ReplyCancel

This blue/white card is another gorgeous creation. What I give from crafting would be letting people know they are close to my heart and that I can add a bright moment to their day when they receive something from me. What I get from crafting is immeasureable … the calm, the peace, the satisfaction, the knowledge, keeping my brain exercised and on and on. Still trying to figure out what the surprise is … could it be you will be making more public appearances at scrapbook shows where more of us could have a more personal one-on-one with you or participate in a workshop that you would lead? I’ve basically been crafting in some form for as long as I can remember, but for me paper crafting was truly life changing. I’ll never forget the first time I picked up a rubber stamp, applied pigment ink, then heat embossed — that’s all it took — I was hooked! I received the gift of feeling I could create a piece of ‘art’ and truly treasure that feeling. I know I’m not nearly as talented as many of the truly gifted paper crafters I’ve had the pleasure of getting to know, but I still receive so much pleasure from tackling a new challenge, learning a new technique and then ‘making it my own’ and finally sharing my creation with someone I care about. It’s truly a craft from which we receive so much and in turn give back — what more could we want?!!!ReplyCancel

Let me see, what do I get from my crafting hobby, far more than words can really express. I have always loved making things. I started with miniature dollhouses and continually am expanding my creativity. When I craft, it lets me be me, not a wife, a mother, a grandmother, a housekeeper, homemaker, cook, secretary, taxi driver, animal tender, nurse, etc, etc, etc……. When I walk into my craft room, I can just be me. To see a person’s face light up when they recieved something home made from my heart, well, how can you describe that feeling. God bless…. Crafting for me is a wonderful creative outlet. So part of the gift is the time I give myself to do it. (Helps me stay balanced.) I also love being able to give the items I make with my family and friends. They appreciate it and I know it is something they can’t get any where else. So for the person “who has everything?” Give them something hand made…ReplyCancel

A unique and classy card – again. It seems that your bucket always comes up full from the well of creativity and you bless us all with your creations. Now to your question; the gift I receive is that look, that joy, and the thanks from the people to whom I’ve given a card and I suppose that is the answer to both questions really. I don’t make a lot of cards so it is a case of what’s seldom is wonderful!!! :-)ReplyCancel

Oh My Gosh this is fabulous! I love the colors and design, GORGEOUS!

I have a one word answer to the question of the day. JOY.. It is such joy to be able to create and give a card or gift that came from my hands and heart. It brings me such joy to see how the recipient reacts when they open that envelop or package. It is a joy to bring a smile to someone’s face. It seems whenever I send a ‘Thinking Of You’ card out of the blue it always arrives on a day the recipient needed it most. Knowing I’ve brought some cheer or made someone feel special is a gift you can’t buy.

I think the greatest gift I receive from my paper crafting is ANTICIPATION! From the moment I sit down to make either a specific card for a special friend, or a bundle of cards for friends and family, or Christmas tags for neighbors, I just can’t wait for the moment they see their gifts. It’s almost a little “needy” on my part, because I thoroughly enjoy their responses. So thank goodness I have so many friends and family… enough to keep me in a constant state of ANTICIPATION!ReplyCancel

Wow. I love this card. While all your cards are so pretty, this one is in MY favorite color combo-sapphire & cream. Love how all the elements work together.
What I receive from crafting is peace. I can be tired, cranky & out of sorts, or stressed, and I go to my craft spot, dig into my papers and stamps, and all the stress falls away-at least while I am working there. It’s my little retreat from life’s issues.
I like to think that the cards I give bring some beauty and peace into the lives of others and let then know how much I care. It seems whenever I need a specific card for someone I can’t find one among those I have already made and must sit down and make one especially for them.
Can’t wait to see what your news is! Blessings to you.ReplyCancel

I started stamping my own cards a few years ago when I was invited to a Stampin Up party. I never heard of the company or even knew you could stamp your own cards. Well, I been hooked every since and have branched out to shows and many websites like yours. I really enjoy making the cards and giving them away. The best part is the response I receive. I can’t believe that my family and friends actually save them. My aunt gave me the greatest compliment a few months ago. She said “we really forward to receiving your cards, you send them on birthdays, holidays and just because you want to say hello.” I make cards because it makes me feel good and now I know it makes others feel good to.ReplyCancel

Becca, how appropriately your “Blessings” card matches your question of the day. I feel the crafting community for me is a constant giving and receiving venue; one in which I receive so much more than what I give. I receive many gifts from crafting. The very best gift has been the many new friends–both in person and in the blog world. Crafting does ease the daily stress of my life, but that is multiplied many times when crafting in the company of my friends. These friends also inspire and lead me in creative directions I would not go without them. I love sharing tools and tips and watching someone’s eyes light up when an idea sparks their interest. I receive immense satisfaction when a recipeint reacts to something I have given them. I will also admit to being quite surprised by the end results of things I have made, and know that I did not create them alone! I have creative genes from many people in my family, and can often see their influence in the things I craft. I love the connection it gives me to those who have passed on. Crafting just takes me to my Happy Place!

Hhmm, what gift do I give or receive from crafting? I give an expression of my love & caring for the recipient of my creations. I send joy, sadness, support, happiness, inspiration, hellos and friendship to people around the world. I send a part of my heart.
I receive the warmth of friendship & family, their sharing of personal & family events. The shaping of young minds, the comfort of life experiences, the silliness of giggles. I receive internal peace & serenity during challanging, stressful life events. Crafting gives me the ability to keep my head above the tides of depression, health & financial burdens. I get a ton of pleasure out of crafting things I am giving to others. My daughter and I just made 30 favors for a dear friend’s bridal shower! Had to color 30 glass votive holders with alcohol inks (lots of blue fingers!) and configure a top (made out of card stock and tulle) so it would look like a cupcake! They came out great, altho the coloring wasn’t my best. So gratifying to see them all displayed on a 4 tiered stand….they looked just like cupcakes! with blue tulle bows! Your card would have been perfect with them!

I’m not a “joiner”. When I started “crafting”, I was scrapbooking. I’ve scrapbooked my family genealogy and my husband’s also. Then I started making scrapbooks for my five grandchildren. I just do from birth to high school graduation. But I was invited to go to a card making party several years ago and fell instantly in love with card making! I now belong to a great group of women who also love to stamp. So the first thing I thought of is the friendships I have formed that I would probably never have if I hadn’t taken that first step out of my comfort zone. And secondly, I love making my cards and sending them out to family and friends. Mine are not up to par with your beautiful creations, but still, many have told me they have kept every card I’ve sent them. That does wonders for my self-esteem! It’s just a nice, relaxing hobby I love!ReplyCancel

  • Ann robbinsAugust 14, 2012 - 11:41 am

I started out scrapbooking but got into cards and enjoy the pleasures that are brought to everyone I send a card to. They know that you thought about them when you made it instead of going into a store and purchasing one. I find this especially true with sympathy cards. When a fellow I know, Mom passed even though I had had a falling out with him, I still wanted him to know that I was thinking about him and his loss. I received a call from him telling me that it was the most beautiful card he received and he would treasure it and keep it for the rest of his life. That meant a lot to me.
When I got started I joined a group for some stress relief and am still involved with a group of 8 or 9 who meet weekly to do paper crafts, be it card making, scrapbooking or whatever else. We call ourselves “The Tuesday Nite Scrappers.” Good fellowship and lots of fund, sharing and caring.

Love your card! My gift or what I receive from crafting is the smile on the face of the recipient when they see what you created just for them.

First let me say, that your card is so sunazzzzy. You knocked this one outta the park. Again. Zowee!
Next, what can I say about what making cards does for me? I guess the sentiment on your card says it all. There is so much to be thankful for. I was introduced to cardmaking at a vulnerable, somewhat sad time in my life. It brought me joy which had been missing. What a lift to see the smile on a recipient’s face. One can’t put a price on that. On top of this, I feel incredibly fortunate to have found your blog. I love everything about it and it also makes me happy. What’s not to love about cardmaking?ReplyCancel

So many people that I give a card comment to me that they save every one. That kinda makes me feel special. My friend and I make cards for the Missions group at my church to sell. It’s not a lot of money but each card has a special message to send on. Can’t wait til tomorrow, I feel like a 10 year old waiting for the day to come when he goes to Disneyworld!

First, I have to say that I really love this card. That background reminds me of those porcelain plates..I think they were called wedgewood? It’s just beautiful.

As for a gift I receive from card making, it’s got to be the friends I have made. I’ve met a wonderful group of ladies and we work together to create the Brandon Scrapbookers Charity Convention. I get to work with four fantastic women and help out local charities at the same time. What a joy and blessing, that I cam thoroughly grateful for.ReplyCancel

This response may be a bit lengthy, so please allow me to apologize in advance. First of all, I came to card crafting from the inside out … I know this sounds a bit strange, but I’ll explain. I come from a crafty family, in that home crafts of various types were always abundant in our home. For me, even as much as I enjoyed crafting (and I dabbled in a nice variety of mediums), my particular passion was in writing … short stories, poems, verses. I often received comments that my works should be published, which I considered a dear compliment, but nothing more. One day, more out of curiosity and fun than anything else, I thought I might give it a try and attempted to sell a verse. Local papers and magazines did not seem to have much interest, but I did find a small market open in the greeting card industry.

I have to admit that it was an “iffy” market at best, but still I was totally thrilled to have an ocassional verse purchased … and even more so to open a card and see my words in a card. However, my passion remained in the writing and not the selling. Then I had this “high in the pie” kind of dream that I might one day like to write a book of verses designed for those making their own cards (I know of many card crafters that would love to have such a book), but if I sold my verses, to the card companies, I could no longer claim them as my own as I sold the rights to them as well. So I started writing for free online greeting card groups and also started making my own cards as a way to give my verses a home. To my utter amazement, I found myself caught up in the crafting of cards … so much so that it now shares an equal passion to my writing.

Since I am now retired, and have much more time to dabble at these passions. My poor family and friends find themselves recipients of a special card from me for every possible occasion that comes along that I design especially for them, including the verse. Get a good check up at the Dentist? Here’s a card. Got a new puppy? Here’s a card. Off on vacation? Here’s a card. Break a fingernail? Here’s a card. Well, you get the idea. Lucky for me, they all seem to enjoy them and even rave over my abilities. But who am I kidding? I am sure they endure them mostly just to humor me … but in my mind, they love them, and that delights me, which in turn gives me great pleasure and keeps me inspired to keep creating them.

BTW, I am equally delighted when I receive a hand crafted card from someone, as I picture it as having been made with as much love as I put into mine. Ohhh, and that book of verses? Well, that is still nothing more than a dream … but then, who know, maybe one day. Till then, I’ll continue to enjoy doing what I do now.

Thank you Becca for sharing your lovely creations with all of is … I cannot begin to tell you how much creative inspiration your lovely work gives me.

    Hugz,
    CarolReplyCancel

My favorite gift that I’ve given is a toss up between three. I made an album filled with pictures of the people in my grandma’s life with their names and their favorite memory of her to help her remember people and their names. She suffers from Dementia. The other gift would be all the cards that I made for Operation Write Home. They send blank cards to the troops overseas so they can go ahead and send cards to their loved ones. The third is birthday cards that I helped asemble to send to patients who suffer with Aids, many times they do not have loved ones to remember their birthday.ReplyCancel

So my final guess is this … I am HOPING this is the answer: You’re going to become a STAR. Maybe featured on your own Crafting Channel (like Oprah has her network) on a cable network, better than a Craft Wars and better than Martha Stewart … Where you’ll serve us up some Becca Bits and interviews with our favorite crafters. Oooh, and publish all of those Becca Bits into an interactive “book” (Mac app) where we can watch the videos and see the pictures. There ya go. I’m hoping!!

Oh, and what is the best thing I have received from crafting? I think it will be self-actualization. Self-worth. Self-esteem … much of self. Of course, I could not have found any of that were it not for the wonderful crafting friends I have found in the online communities and in crafting classes/crops and conventions. One sent me a beautiful hand-painted plaque of an Iris, with this quote from Leo Buscaglia handset over it: “Your talent is God’s gift to you. What you do with it is your gift back to God.” I hope I make Him pleased.

    Fondly,

Beautiful blue card–I love your ribbon! When I craft or make a card for someone, I love the expression on their face when they see it. I love they way the look at each and every detail, and I love the hugs and ‘thank you’s” I get. I love to be able to personalize each card to the person’s taste and color favorites. I have one other guess for your surprise–I wish you would start a magazine of how-to’s and ideas–none of them out there really pique my interest enough, but I would cherish one with your ideas and creativity in it…! Even if this isn’t your surprise, I think you should give it some thought. We really do need a great magazine for making cards and layouts… I already have my fav artists/crafters in mind that you could include in it: you of course, Bev Rochester, Gabrielle Pollaccoat, Krista Smith, to name a few right at the top.ReplyCancel

I have always loved to craft, and have always had some project or projects going. Sometimes I would have more than one thing going on at a time. My mother taught me to quilt, so over the years I have peiced and quilted several quilts until I begin to have trouble with my eyesight. When I had cataract surgery I thought that would end my eye problems but it didn’t and am still troubled by this. I manage to do a few cards from time to time and I get so much pleasure sending a card to a friend or loved one who is in need of cheering up.. I also find time to create 20 cards a month for a hospice center near my home. My mother died in 2000 from cancer, my mother received so many cards from friends and loved ones, this got her through many a tough day. So however small the gesture may be to send someone a cheerful note to help them through the day gives me great pleasure. I can use something I love to do to help others feel good also.ReplyCancel

Get….the smiles and oohs and aahs I get back from them.

    I think this sounds corney, but……that’s it.ReplyCancel

At a very young age my mother taught me to crochet. To that I’ve added knitting, stained glass, counted cross stitch and now card making. Each of these I have shared with others hoping to put a smile on their face. I know when I get a hand made gift it is a treasure.ReplyCancel

Love the blue. Reminds of the blue willow china my mother used to have. As for giving, I always like to make small gifts to give to others, especially family members. As for receiving, I love the fact that so many love the cards/gifts I make and say they have every one of them. To me, that is so fulfiling. Can’t wait till tomorrow.ReplyCancel

About me – I think the biggest thing I get from all my crafting is that creative outlet that I would go crazy without! My day-to-day job can be boring and frustrating/stressful at the same time and if I don’t get to craft a little I think I would go bonkers! There is something so soothing about sitting down and just cutting something out, or coloring….ReplyCancel

I impress myself when I can take a piece of card stock and make something out of it via templates or tutorials. Something that can move or be able to create a theme with colors, punches, piecings, embossing, etc. I, then, can share the sense of WOW! with my friends, who then show the cards or boxes with others. None of us knew that a Magic Card, or 2 View Card, or a Never Ending Card could be made by hand (or be made by US). All that sharing is due to the generosity of others so that we can share with others.ReplyCancel

Love your cards today and yesterday especially – blue and white are so crisp, clean and eye-catching. What I love about card-making is that it’s a blessing to those who give AND to those who receive. It’s an enjoyable way to spend some time, a satisfying hobby with immediate results, a fun way to connect with other people who have a similar bent, and a therapy for difficult days. Yet it can convey to the recipient how much he or she is valued because one took the time to make the card especially for him or her. And the smiles one receives in return are priceless! So, dear Becca, thanks for all the inspiration!ReplyCancel

Crafters are a friendly lot and often freely share new techniques and magnificent artwork (just like you do), so I gain so much from this. I also love it when friends and family admire my work too. I especially like to make sure that my cards are themed for their intended recipients, so that they feel special too.

Firstly this card is so pretty and such a classic colour.- What do I get out of crafting- the pleasure of knowing I am creating something I love and the gift of part of myself in everything I create.- To see the face of someone who receives something I have made is such a joy and the fact that I know I have put a bit of me in the gift is such a great feeling. The friendships I have made both locally and via the computer are fantastic. Thank you for being one of the people I consider a crafting friend.ReplyCancel

WOW!!!! After reading so many of the comments made by everyone, the easiest thing for me to say is “ditto”. I guess this proves that crafters craft for a lot of the same reasons: joy, peace, love, giving to others, and so much more. Can’t wait to hear your announcement.ReplyCancel

Crafting has added so many things to y life. I receive so much… inspiration, friendship and let me say I have found some treasures in friends. I also receive a relaxed and calming effect when I enter my scrapping world. As far as what I give I try to give some of what I receive but I could never get as much as I receive. I can tell you this for sure, if you want to find a true friend for life then you need to join the crafting world and attend some crops and retreats! You will find some true friends!ReplyCancel

Delicious blues, Becca! Maybe you should take a walk through the blue spectrum more often–beauty. Crafting as a gift to others tells them I care, that they are on my mind, they matter. People respond so kindly to just a simple gesture of a card or framed photo or baked goods, it melts my heart. Crafting as a gift to myself helps fulfill my need to create. Most days are not the best they can be without having made something, anything. Can’t wait for your announcement!ReplyCancel

I love to randomly send a card to brighten someones day. I recently gave a co-worker a thank you card for helping me plan a baby shower for another co-worker and the surprise and huge smile she had on her face was priceless. Even though she thanked me for it , she called me the next day to tell me how much she appreciated the card and that it really made her day.So for me it’s all about the gift of happiness and joy.ReplyCancel

One gift I receive from my crafting is hearing the kind compliments when people like the cards I’ve sent to them. Another is just the joy of creating something that I can be proud of. One gift I give is to make cards when my husband needs them. I make Thank You cards for his business when he needs them as well as any other kind of card he might need. And my cardmaking has also provided me a way to give little gifts to people like my 87 year old aunt who is always just thrilled to receive another hand made card from me. She tells me that she keeps every one of them and looks at them often so I know they mean a lot to her.ReplyCancel

I love the blue and white cards!

I think I receive a bigger blessing from making and sending cards than those who receive them.

I started making cards after my best friend died and it was so therapeutic. About that same time, I found your blog and fell in love with all the beautiful cards that you posted, and gradually, I found that I was able to begin to heal just by starting to think of others and sending them a card with words of encouragement when I could.ReplyCancel

Making cards does not relax me because I don’t feel like I’m creative or imaginative, so I am often very stressed. This is the reason I get so much inspiration from sites such as yours. But what I do get from card-making is (1) my husband is my biggest fan and he always love my cards for him, and (2) I make cards for Operation Write Home. Our U.S. military are my heroes and if there is anything I can do to show them my support and offer my thanks and appreciation, I want to do it., Thank you for sharing your wonderful art. It is truly a blessing to see.ReplyCancel

I feel inspired and have a sense of peacefulness when I am making cards for my friends and family. I try to think of the person’s likes and dislikes and aim to portray those on the card as I visualize their smiles and happiness when they open up the envelope to see what I have created for them. Love that shade of blue on your cardsl Last thought is that your surprise is that you are going on a “scrapbooking/cardmaking cruise where you will be teaching your techniques of cardmaking. I have received so much from paper crafting. I only started this craft about three years ago at the age of 75. I thought it would be just a passing whim. Was I ever wrong. The gifts I have received are numerous. I have had time with my daughters sharing something they have been doing for many years. When I craft with paper I forget anything and everything around me and only live in the moment, which is a good thing. But the joy I receive when I give a card to a friend or family member cannot even be measured. Can’t wait until you reveal your surprise, especially since I was the one who said “Are you pregnant?”ReplyCancel

I know I am late on the comment but here it is anyway. I enjoy making things for people. It is a joy to let creative juices flow and then to express a phrase that is needed to touch where a person is at. Also, I enjoy making journals, booklets with creative fronts and papers where people can be free to express what is going on inside of them or use as a photo album.
It is an an outlet from me and hopefully a blessing to the receiver.ReplyCancel
