New Years Bring Change

Sweet blog friends, the beginning of a new year brings changes.  As we look in our hearts there’s a bundle of hope that entices us to be better in every way – better in our faith, better in our parenthood, better friends, better stewards of our health, better at our jobs and the list goes on.   I’m giddy with anticipation for 2014 and along with all the other betters, I hope to be a better designer, blogger and artist.  Every year I take a stroll back  through previous years.  Yes, I’m critical of my own work, especially the first years – but after looking back, I love knowing I’ve grown in some way. These are my favs;  I’m always inspired to know what you liked best or what you want to see more of.  So, as you stroll back feel free to reference a project you’d love to see carried into the future :-)

As you stroll through the years, you can click on any picture to make it larger :-)  If you are interested in finding the entire post, when you hover over a thumbnail, a picture number should appear in your browser – if you pop that picture number into the search bar in the right sidebar – it should get you pretty darn close to the post you are looking for or select Best of 2013 from the categories list!

(I’m sad to say that there are two projects that I promised tutorials on in 2013 that I didn’t get to, but they are still on the list :-))  I hope you’ll forgive me – seems like each year one or two get away from me.  Thanks so very much for your support throughout the year!

My favorite has always been the red and white Christmas card that when you opened it, the snowflakes popped up. You said you would do a video of how to, but never did. I’ve asked for it several times and would still love to make it for my 2014 Christmas card. Thank you.

Well, I really don’t know how you could be a better designer or artist or blogger. If I only had a tiny bit of your ability to make all these gorgeous things, and not just cards, I would be tickled pink! Also, I really enjoy the tutorials you do to help inspire all of us and seeing these helps me believe that I might do a little of the card designs. So, personally I am happy you are such a wonderful enabler, designer, and teacher!!ReplyCancel

I DON’T THINK THE BEST CAN GET ANY BETTER!!!!! I look at all your products and say, Oh, I attempted that one for so and so. Not as good as Becca’s but I tried. I like the way you did it by year as I have only been around your blog for 2 1/2 to 3 years so although I have looked back, they are all here together. Thank you for all your inspiration!!

Becca, I love this year in review feature! It allows us to recap what you liked most during the previous year and see if our own tastes are similar. I am pleased to say that I have personally duplicated SIX of these designs – some more than once! I still have plans to do several others as well. You always challenge and encourage me but 2013 found me asking for help, which you kindly provided, finding acrylic for box tops to finish those wonderful gift boxes. I chose the ones with the candles for Christmas gifts but time got away from me when I elected to make nearly two dozen of them. Needless to say, they became New Year’s gifts which I am still working on! Blessings and hugs dear friend.ReplyCancel

What an absolutely wonderful treat to get to see all your great work, I am really looking forward to going through it all and having a look and getting some new ideas for myself and giving myself a good kick up the backside to get me crafting again. I know that if anyone can help me do that you will, so fingers crossed, thank you for the inspiration. Hugs, Jen x

Hi Becca, I’ve taken the stroll back to look at your earlier work and yes, you have grown… but your work has always been beautiful… And I must say NO ONE… absolutely NO ONE… puts a card together like you do…
It’s a work of art with such creativity built with an artistic eye that is beyond anything or anyone else out there… Keep growning and sharing… I can’t wait to see where it leads you !!ReplyCancel

    Greetings and blessings Becca,

All your cards and projects are an inspiration to me and I so look forward to every post. I enjoy seeing the “new” products featured but most of all I enjoy seeing the “new” products featured together WITH “old” products. I don’t want the older ones sitting in my drawers to get too dusty and I like seeing new ways to use them in concert with the “new” ones.

Your God given talent is amazing………may the Lord richly bless you!!ReplyCancel

    Becca
How could I choose which is the favorite–is it selfish to say all of them–most of all your creations bring so much to all that visit your blog. From learning what the card is saying to its beautiful scene. To sharing laughter, tears, joy or just to wish you a good day. Every creation you create is a message for that day. I thank you for all you do for everyone of us that appreciate creation, words but most of all friendship-a precious gift. May 2014 bring you much more laughter, joy and lots of love.ReplyCancel

My absolute favorites of 2013 are #’s 1-2-4 and 11 … these are all my types of cards, fancy with multiple layers. All of your cards are beautiful, just some more than others. You never let us down with your wonderful creations. I’m sure that there are plenty others that I LOVE in previous years as well. Every since I’ve been getting daily feeds from your blog I’ve been saving my favorite cards in a folder so that I can always refer back to them when I’m looking for “just the right” design.ReplyCancel

I have been watching your blog for awhile, just not commenting until lately. We all grow as designers, changing and learning is the fun part. As I looked back at earlier years of your work that I hadn’t seen yet, I was amazed. You are such a talented person, and I, for one, and thrilled that you share you talent with us. I agree with the above comments, LOVE your tutorials! I look forward to what goodies you come up with this year. You GO girl!

I love all your projects, Becca. Even if you don’t think they are all worthy, I certainly do! Your site is my most visited when I need or want inspiration.
And since you asked, I would like to see more projects. I just love creating items that can be keepsakes & always search them out. I have taken some of your card ideas & tweeted the into projects. The one I haven’t yet tried is the “golden pocketbook” as I call it. It is just so stunning!

Although I absolutely love all of your projects, my favorite is No. 17 (the taupe and cream one). I have made my version of it, substituting supplies I own for what you used. It turned out well enough for me to happy with it, but now that I see “the real thing ” I want to make it again. We are so lucky and blessed to have you with us, sharing and helping us expand our creativity. Thank you so much.ReplyCancel

Hi, Becca- I’ve learned so much from you and appreciate you sharing your knowledge with us. My very favorite card from 2013 is #6–the pink card with matching box. I also love the composition of #21, the sympathy card. I have one little iota of a suggestion, since you said you’re going to try to be even better at what you do. :-) I am somewhat of a beginner. When I look at your cards, I’m taken aback at how beautiful they are. But when you explain how to compose them, sometimes I don’t really understand, so I’m intimidated and don’t attempt something I would really like to try. You are very good at getting way more out of a die than someone else could, because you are so creative. But sometimes I just don’t “get” how a card was constructed. This is not a complaint, just a comment on my card-making abilities. I’m not sure there’s a solution to this problem, but it might help me out if at times you could go into a little more detail on how the card was actually assembled. I feel terrible for asking that!ReplyCancel

You’ve certainly expanded through the years, Becca. Your first entries were beautiful and amazing and your last ones were also, but I’m sure you can see your experimentations paying off as you try new techniques, figure out how to do something you KNOW is possible, but have to figure it all out. It’s so great to have someone who does that for us, because this lady would NEVER have the patience, creativity, or ideas to do it on her own! May 2014 indeed be a banner year for you.ReplyCancel

Becca: I was so inspired w. your card yesterday (1/14/2014), The verse in it and the work you did with it – the gold and white. I have a daughter who is going thru some challenging times in her life and I made it for her with some variations. I called her in Omaha to tell her to watch her mailbox and am anxious to get her call. The verse was so perfect for her at this time. You do so much good for so many with your work plus you are so down to earth as a person, I feel I know you personally. Thank you for sharing your talent with us.ReplyCancel

    Good evening Becca,
My very favourite is the baby girl card as i just think it just so beautiful, close runner up is the “angel” card because that’s what i see, an angel. It’s the embossing folder one with the lacy top, to me she is bowing her head. I’m afraid i just can’t choose between the rest but the one that melts my heart is the beautiful way you have encapsulated your daughter in her graduation photographs. Thank you Becca for being so lovely in giving your time and talent to us to improve our card making. You must be really busy but you choose to give up apart of that precious time to us and i for one really do appreciate your talent and time from the bottom of my heart. I am so glad that i signed up to Sue’s blog because without her, i would never have come across you. Sue is my other card idol as what she can produce like your self, from a few bits of card is wonderful and gives the rest of us hope of achieving something better than before.

Becca, it made me feel so good to hear you are critical of your own early work. (although I sure don’t see why!). You always do amazing cards & projects and my jaw always drops at seeing how you do the layers of S/binders. I know you must be an ARTIST, with the skills displayed in your coloring, your choice of patterns, your eye for the elegance. I could perhaps ‘copy’, what I see, but could not come up with the ideas for designs that you do. (gotta be an artist thing!). It’s lovely to see your ‘card history’, and I’m not sure what I’d suggest that you do more of. I think all of ’em are just wonderful, and I love being surprised. But whatever 2014 brings your way, I hope all things are blessings that make you happy. Hugs & TFSReplyCancel

Hi Becca. So many beautiful cards and projects all on one page, what a great way to start the day : ) Couldn’t possibly pick a favourite but I too, like Carol L, would love to see the red, white Christmas card with the pop out snowflake tutorial if possible (funny how I couldn’t really understand why crafters thought about Christmas all year….until I started making cards myself! ) Thank you for sharing so freely. Take care.ReplyCancel

  • LoraineJanuary 16, 2014 - 3:24 am

It is impossible to pick a favorite card as they are all beautiful!!! I do think that they do get better each year probably because there are more elaborate dies and other materials available. I like a lot of lace and filigree, but also like the other styles. There should always be variety.
It is a joy just to spend time going thru all of the photos.
You are certainly blessed with a wonderful talent and we are all blessed to be able to enjoy and and learn from your skills.
May God continue to bless you and your family.
I will be watching every day to see what beautiful new things you have created.ReplyCancel

So beautiful to look at. I have been able to do some of your projects, as I’ve had the dies but many of them I can’t do, so I just admire them.
Please keep up this amazing work. You are a very gifted lady.ReplyCancel

I’m sorry for the person who didn’t claim their prize. Thanks for the opportunity to win the clear boxes as I have plenty to fill them with. My favorite color today is turquoise blue. I’ve been doing Valentines with that color, some lacy punches and white organdy ribbon. Getting ready for that wonderful Heart day.ReplyCancel

hmmmmm I to wonder how you could improve on anything as far as your crafting ability goes and your blogging is fabulous, as busy as you are with all the creating you do I can’t figure out how you find time to blog about it :) You already have the lord on your side and it just doesn’t get better than that!! I am truly hopeful though that I will eventually grow as you have…would love to make such amazing cards as these, without just copying, which I don’t do, I tr y to change up the designs a bit to make them my own using your creation as my inspiration. I have literally gone through your blog from front to back, back to front several times…..everything you make is amazing and inspiring, makes me feel like I can do anything, just not as lovely as you :) ty for sharing it all with us and I’m looking forward to what the new yr brings!! :) hugsReplyCancel

I would like to see more of what you already do. As I mentioned in a previous email, I have traveled back to the origins of your blog and continue to review all your early entries. You have always managed to get the most out of the products you use, and that is very special. I love how you see beyond the obvious uses of a die, for example. When it comes to card making, I consider you a “trend” setter. I respect your talent and skill in this fabulous paper crafting industry and look forward to following you in the future. God’s speed.ReplyCancel

I really like most of your inspiring works…I tend to be partial to the cards as they are the most practical. If I am forced to chose a single one as my favorite I would have to say that I am currently motivated by the red and white Christmas card….mine didn’t get done this year.ReplyCancel
