In My Book You’re a Charming Gardener

Whew, I’m a night-owl by nature.  Life gets so busy running interference for my young adult children during the day that you can usually find me burning the midnight oil with my stamping projects.  That does not seem to be the case this month . . . I have so much I want to do but I can’t seem to stay awake to do it.   My baby girl is graduating from High School on Friday and I think this whole not being able to stay awake thing has something to do with immense relief from the stress of getting her through school this year *wink*.  It’s been a special week for us because we’ve been able to sashay here and there and have her out to lunch while the weather was magnificent!!!  Which leads me to my point – I’m digging in to the archive for something else to share with you – one of my very favorite Impression-Obsession stamps.  I shared this in the Fan Club back in January but I’m able to share it with the rest of you today.

This watercolored piece was mounted on a book with the intention that it will hang on the wall.  I adore books and unfortunately I have too many to keep so I continue to use them for recycled projects.  This book couldn’t leave my house because it has the gold gilded edges but that makes it perfect for this project. The image is colored with a combination of Tombow markers and Distress Ink Reinkers, while the sky was airbrushed in with the Copic Airbrush System using Marker B21.  The corners are crimped on using this tool and the corners can be found here.

To finish up I threaded wire edged ribbon through the spine of the book and tied a sturdy, permanent bow so that it be secure once I hang it.  I almost wished I could have found a thinner book but this one works out okay.  I hope it’s a idea you can put to use too if you have something too special to wrap up in a card but that you’d like to put on display!

Project Recipe:
Stamps:  Impression-Obsession
Paper:  140lb Strathmore Watercolor Paper
Ink:  Black Brilliance
Accessories:  Tombow Markers, Copic Airbrush System, Copic Marker B21, Ranger Distress Ink Reinkers, Aquapainter, Ribbon, Metal Corners

Blessings to you my friends!!  You are the most wonderful and as the sentiment says, you sure make my soul blossom!!

Becca, lots going on in your life.. many thanks for keeping this blog going.. you inspire us so much.
I want to thank you for using those older stamps.. generally all we see on the blogs are the newer images, but really, don’t we all have some of the oldies but goodies in our stash? And many of us are desperate for inspirations on how to use them! So, you GO!
Enjoy this time with your children.. it’s so special..and congratulations to your daughter on her graduation..
