The ordinary and unexpected gift of stamping

Holly and Ivy Pocket Card

Posted by Becca Feeken on Thursday, November 5th, 2009

Greetings!  Today I’m sharing a card made with a lovely new set from Flourishes called Dove and Holly.  The shading laid in by the artist makes it a joy to color.  My card is essentially flat and functions as a pocket card.   Actually it started out being a band around the card that got quite large and worked itself into being the pocket.

The card is colored with Tombow markers and the edges are smudged with Antique Linen and Vintage Photo Distess Inks.  The pocket is cut with Martha Stewart Deep Edger Floral Vine Punch and the vellum overlay is hand embossed with Anna Griffin brass stencils.   The top edge of the pocket is cut with EK Success Scalloped Scallop Border Punch and embellished with pearls.    I feel like this format works really well when your stamped image is large.  By setting it up with the pocket I could still have the large focal panel yet have other decorative elements on the card as well and they all have the opportunity to be seen.

Card Recipe:
Stamps:  Flourishes - Dove and Holly
Paper:  K & Co., Bazzill, Pergamano Translucent Vellum, 140lb Strathmore Watercolor Paper
Ink:  Versafine Black Onyx, Antique Linen Distress Ink, Vintage Photo Distress Ink
Accessories:  Martha Stewart Deep Edger Floral Vine Punch, Pearls, Ribbon, Tombow Markers, Anna Griffin Brass Embossing Stencils, Clear Embossing Powder, EK Success Scalloped Scallop Border Punch

Thanks for stopping by :-)  Hoping you find joy today!

Exquisite!! Your closing remark is you hope we find joy today. Becca, you give “us ” joy by sharing your marvelous talent!! I am sure you lift many people’s spirits every day who do not post a comment. Your coloring also proves people can do beautiful coloring with Tombows too.

As usual, a beautiful card. Trying to think of cards to do for the xams season. I like the idea of a band around the card. Thanks for the inspiration.

    Becca:
You are just a friend that I haven’t met! Your talent is off the chart. I get inspiration from you, but when it comes to the ribbon…..you fill in the blank.

My talent with ribbon is over or under, not good with bows.

I hope you realize how much your ribbon talent amazes crafters like me.

God bless and have a great day!

It’s a real beauty Becca. I love your coloring, Tombow markers are some of my favorites gives a softer look than the copic markers do. I love tags and pockets on cards it always adds interest. TFS!!!

Good evening, Becca- now this card I adore. It’s so elegant and so beautifully coloured and matched and the big bow is the perfect finishing touch for me.

    Beautiful Becca!
I love the pocket idea. I also love how you have coloured with the Tombows. I am just starting out with stamps and colouring and have Tombows so it is nice to see how well a picture can look. Hopefully I can achieve something that looks half as good.
    Hugs Marion
