Heartfelt Thanks

Hi there blog friends!! I had a quiet but wonderful Easter and hope you did too!! I decided to start my mojo this week by jumping in on the Mojo Monday 188 sketch. I love the sketch – there’s usually a round element and it lends itself well to pearls, so what a way for a gal to indulge, right?!?  I picked out some the Girls Paperie paper that I’ve been raving about for the last several weeks, you know I’m determined not to hoard it.  So far it looks like I’m breaking the horrible cycle, lol!!  I used  it along with some paper from the Paper Company for an easy to put together card that’s feels a little bit shabby.  I often feel like I’m getting into a rut, so this is a nice morning stretch.  How about you?  Do you feel you need to stretch to keep from doing the same thing?

I think my favorite part of the card is the underlying doily!!  It’s made with two of the Spellbinders Lotus Pendants and then I layered it with Spellbinders Floral Doily Motifs and Spellbinders Standard Circles LG.  There’s another punch of red on the right hand side of the card with Spellbinders Floral Doily Accents.  I pulled out my tiniest pearls today and I think it gives the card a little bit of sparkle.  I ran a border punch along the bottom of my card today, just to break up the pace of what I normally do.

SUPPLIES I USED
Stamps: Studio G
Paper:  The Girls Paperie
Ink: Versafine Onyx Black, Antique Linen Distress Ink
Accessories:
Spellbinders Lotus Pendants, Spellbinders Floral Doily Motifs, Spellbinders Standard Circles LG. Spellbinders Floral Doily Accents, Prima Flowers, Recollections Pearls, Button, Seam Binding, Martha Stewart Blossom Eyelets Border Punch

Well that’s all for me today friends!!  Here’s to hoping your week is spectacular and that you break outside your routine and stretch!!

Kind of different from your usual, Becca … but no less stunning! The gingham caught my eye and normally that is not a pattern I would think of you using; but it so works. Love the border punch at the bottom.ReplyCancel

Another beautiful card, Becca. Personally, I’m not a red person, however, on this card I like it. Must be the Becca Touch. :)ReplyCancel

Oh AND – I forgot to comment on two of my other favorites featured on this card too – the print paper you stamped on – LOVE using old books for things like this – and I also love the way you punched out the “naked” part of the card at the bottom. Becca, I can always count on you for new inspiration. Thank you.ReplyCancel

Hey Becca, I love this card. I’m partial to anything red, so this makes me happy! I love the layers. And the pearls. Funny I always love your pearls, and yet I never think to pull mine out! I’ve got a big divided box with every size pearl there is…I think. And because my space isn’t well enough organized, they are stuck away, so I don’t think of them. But I’m working on really organizing so hopefully I’ll have them out where I can see them soon. Thanks for sharing.

I love this card and the lotus Spellbinder is one of my favorites. If you have trouble getting the cardstock out of the die, put a piece of wax paper between the cs and the die before running it through your die cutter. I love this die, but was about to send it to retirement since it was so difficult to get the cut cs out without tearing it up….then I learned about the wax paper trick….I now use it on all my detailed dies.

    Love all your art…tfs.ReplyCancel

  • Francie (Montreal)April 25, 2011 - 1:37 pm

I love this card. I think I have another favourite. Again. I particularly like what you’ve done with all the dies. And the ribbon. It’s fabulous.

Also changing the subject just a bit, I want to thank Jan D for her helpful wax paper tip. You’ve saved me hours of poking, hissy fits, etc. Your helpful hint works like a charm.ReplyCancel

Thank you for the inspiration, I will just have to go shopping I do not have enough Spellbinder Dies.
Maybe I will wait until my son and family move to New York all the way from New Zealand to live, maybe a flight to the USA will be on the cards for Nana and Grandad
