Guess What — More Blog Candy!

by on March 3, 2010

I’ve had these little piles setting aside in my studio because during my last month Blogging Anniversary I had thought I would do one Blog Candy each week to celebrate.  Well the best intentions laid aside, last month was slam busy with the production of Becca Bits, downloadable pdf’s and several video tutorials.  That won’t stop me though – I have new blog candy with different items.  Beside, I’m just done reading about your best tear-jerker movies and have put several new items on my bucket list (smile) – so we just gotta talk more!

Okay, so here’s the deal.  Blog Candy is now open and will close on Sunday, March 7th at midnight with a winner being announced on Monday, March 8th.  Feel free to enter every day and in fact if the winner has entered each day (there are 5) I’ll throw in a bonus – trust me, it will be good. As always, once the winner is picked, they need to reach out to me through my contact page within 48 hours or another winner is picked.

Now, about the content of your comment.  Many of you know I’m a caregiver and stay fairly tethered to home.  Blogging gives me a way to talk to other people – it absolutely tickles my heart to read your thoughts – you are all beautiful souls.  In the beginning I tried to reply to all comments but it became impossible if I wanted to continue to create and actually have something to show.   So I still read all comments and in fact a little over two weeks ago you all shared your Bucket List items with me – what an eye opener that was!!!   Most people had something on their list about visiting some place dreamy.  So that’s what I’m looking for – have you been someplace breathtaking that was beyond your dreams?  Share it with me and tell me why it was so beautiful – I wanna go!

This is hard to do cause I have been a lot of places thanks to my husbands job and his traveling! I think one of the prettiest and most diverse places I have been is Prague, Czech Republic. I visited it the first time in 2002 during one of the worse floods of their recorded history. I was prepared not to like it because it had been communist (and still is in a lot of ways) but the people and the city are so beautiful it was such a surprize.

guess I’m not the only one that can’t sleep. As far as going somewhere dreamy I guess I never have. I have six children so needless to say every time we went on vacation it was with the family. I to was a caregiver for the last 20 years on and off. My first husband got ill at a young age and was on kidney dyalisis until he passed away. In 2006 my mother got ill and came to live with us, I remarried, so that I could take care of her, she passed away in March of 2006. Later that same year my 2nd husband passed away, July almost four months to the day, so I depend on the computer to keep me in touch with everything. I love papercrafting and spend hours looking at all the different sites and things everyone has made. I really didn’t know how to do much on the computer but am learning and have even set up a blog. Not much on it yet, but there will be, I have to say seeing all the beautiful things you make has really given me inspiration. Thanks so much

Well Becca.. I have been only to London and Lourdes in France.. so between the two I’ll prefer Lourdes. It is NOT that kind of place you may be looking for, but the inner joy and peace that place gives you.. is breathtaking in a certain sense. And I definitely LOVED it when we went on the mountains (the Pyrenees .. border between France and Spain)above the clouds.. that WAS breathttaking!!

LOVE that candy sweetie, thanks for the chance.xx

Hi Becca, this is a good one; it will be hard to limit it to just 5 places in 5 days! I’ll start close to home — Biltmore in Asheville, NC. The house and the setting are simply unreal. I cannot imagine what it was like to live in such an amazing setting in the mountans among the clouds; among such beautiful art and collections in a castle you need a map to find your way around in; with home-grown, rustic meals served on fine china and fine linens everyday; and always a housefull of guests enjoying and taking it all in with me.

I haven’t traveled much in my life. I have always worked until recently and was never big into vacations, so I guess that my back porch will have to do. We have a breathtaking view of the Smokey Mountains from our porch and right now they are snow covered and when the sun shines the sight will take your breath away. In the summertime we see the farmland with the silos and the Mountains in the background another wonderful sight. We spend a lot of time on the porch in the summertime and whenever I’m agitated about anything I sit and ponder the situation while I gaze at the Mountains. There is something about knowing they have been right there for many, many years and they are not going anywhere. It gives you an idea of
knowing who you are and where you are headed, and that you are grounded.

One of the most beautiful places I have been is the Blue Ridge Mountains of Gatlinburg Tenessee. After climbing/hiking for hours with my two sons and my brother in law, we saw the most breathtaking waterfall that made that long hard climb worthwhile.

Last summer our family went to Hilton Head Island, SC. It was truly beautiful! It’s in my top five. We haven’t had many either. We have a sick daughter. She and I generally miss the family vacation. MY hubby will take the other kids while we’re in the hospital. One year when my dd was 13 she a total hip replacement. The reest of the family went to Maine. Chandler and I stayed at home while she was recuperating. We actually had a good time watching old movies together. We’ve had a long on going history but, we’ve found things to enjoy along the way. Chandler was able to make it to Hilton Head. We made a bed in the back of the van. Anyways, Becca, HHI is AWESOME!!!!!!

Now I have to admit I am not a “world traveler”, have been all over the United states though, and this country has a ton to offer…..as much as I fell in love with Glacier National Park, I am going to suggest good old Michigan (remember the videos?)…so very gorgeous with all its water…Mackinac Island is a ball…and no automobiles allowed, only transportation is horses and bikes or good old walking!!! The sunsets on the straits of Mackinac (always pronounced mack-in-naw)…are breathtaking by the Mackinac bridge…….yes, “come back to Michigan”…lol!!!

Wow what candy!! This is so exciting, like buying a lottery scratch ticket!!:) I have only played a handful of times but the first time was the day my first son Cody was born and we won 50.00. That started his college fund! That has been my only big win too.

Some place dreamy, I never got to go on a honeymoon or a romantic get-away with my hubby and this year will be 20 years.

But back in June my sister and I went on a sisters get-away to Gulf Shores, AL and it was BEAUTIFUL!!! White, White, (very clean) sandy beaches, beautiful weather, a remote condo with beautiful grounds-flowers, pool, hot tub and the Ocean. Wow the ocean was so clear and inviting. I stayed in the ocean from morning til evening. I had 3 sting rays swim by my legs (they scared me! But they were so gracious and peaceful) and a beautiful huge white craine walked within 10 feet from me. I shell hunted and had the best relaxed week.

I have pics on my facebook page Pam Hall-Barker you are welcome to visit.

Thank you again for sharing your talents and your candy
God Bless

Hi Becca,
Unfortunatley I have only been to Disneyland in California way back in 1979! My husband does not like to go far from home so I haven’t been able to travel. I have dreams to see where my grandmother was born near Hadrian’s Wall on the border between England and Scotland, as well as far Eastern Canada where all of our history is! I have over the years yearned to see Paris and Greece as well, but will never get to any of these places. I am at home nearly all of the time and use my card making to keep me happy and busy when I am not doing housework etc. I have for the past 20 odd years taken care of both my F-I -L and M-I-L as they took ill; and I looked after my father for 5 years while he was ill and was with him when he passed away 6 years ago. Now I get on the ferry every 3 months to come and do things for my mother and as she ages will probably do the same for her as I did for dad. I spend the rest of my time alone…….
I do hope you hear of some GREAT places that you can visit some day :o)
Hugs, Candy

As you can see its 4 30 am and I am wide awake. I lost my husband too soon 4 years ago.

The most breath taking place we have ever been was on a cruise to Alaska.

To walk on a glacier is unbelievable.

Being within yard of a glacier from the deck of a cruise ship. We we took a bus to the Yukon and it felt like we were in Heaven.

It is so very beautiful. Something not to be missed.

The dreamiest place I’ve been is the Bahamas. I’d won a trip, my husband didn’t want to go, so I took my best friend. I don’t get around very well, walk with a cane, but that wasn’t going to stop me! There’s something kinda magical about the Bahamas. Maybe it’s the age & history. We were staying in Nassau, where there’s lots of very old, very colorful buildings, with new modern buildings dotted here & there. The Bahamians we met were wonderful, had beautiful accents, food was great, & I got lots of locally handcrafted souvenirs. Anyway, I’d go back in a heartbeat!

I have to say, I haven’t traveled much, but the Grand Canyon was the most breathtaking for me. God really is great, and looking out over the vastness of it all, just makes you realize how small we are in the whole scheme of things. It really was overwhelming.

Traveling and visiting new places is part of my life. For the past 23 years I have visited so many places that I can not even remember how many. 23 years singing in a choir and this gives me the opportunity to meet new people, traditions, and to explore new places … But the most fantastic and wonderful place that I visited is Tunisia. We had the whole family – mom, dad, my sister and me. I was only 10 years old and I was enchanted by this so different and variegated world. For the first time I saw palm trees, I saw a camel, ostrich and flamingo live.
Now I work at a travel company and have the opportunity to travel

It has to be Blue Spring State Park in Florida. Went there this January and the crystal clear river was full of manatees and all kinds of fish. It was awesome…. a place where you cannot help but feel close to god.

My best memory was visiting Hong Kong for my 21st Birthday (I’m now 39), I remember wanting to go to the Po Lin Monestary. The Po Lin Monastery is set amid spectacular mountain scenery on the 520-metre high Ngong Ping plateau. It is home to the biggest bronze Buddha which sits serenely atop Ngong Ping plateau amid the spectacular mountain scenery of Lantau Island. Just a site to see. We even got to have lunch with the Monks, a memory I still cherish.

Becca, mine is a “deam”. It is a two story house with stairs outside from the upper level leading into a flower garden full of flowers. My bedroom is all glass windows full and of white lacy bed linens of which I melt into at night. I have beautiful flower fresh flowers all over the room and silver serving pieces. As I said, it is a dream but I go there a lot and if is a wonderful spot.

Good Morning Becca…I love your blog and visit it daily. I guess I would have to say that the place I went to that left an impact on me was my visit to Berlin when there was still the wall around the city. I went there in the 70′s and entered through Checkpoint Charlie. What touched me was seeing the markers where people tried to escape the Communist rule of the city. Very touching. A very beautiful city also.

Unfortunately I have been very few places “dreamy” but I would say Magnetic Island of the coast of Queensland would come close- It’s where we spent our honeymoon many many years ago and (that’s probably why I feel it’s dreamy) its was just a little slightly underdeveloped island that you could sail around in a day and still have fun swimming in clear bluegreen seas and sitting on golden sandy beaches- there were peacocks and peahens at the resort we stayed at and it was mating time but even though the noise was significant the colours of the birds made up for that 10 times over. We said we would try to return often but finances and family have made that impossible at this stage- maybe when we retire we can go back.
I admire you for your carer status- I know first hand how hard and resticting that can be – my position was only for a couple of years so I can only imagine what you go through every day but we do it for love.

I have had the opportunity to travel some. I loved my trip to Jamaica with group of travel agents. We got to stay in a new hotel so they could tell their customers about it. We went river rafting. Each raft had its own native directing it down the river while we sat back and enjoyed the sites. It was just beautiful. We visited the well know Sandals Hotels with all their beautiful beaches. The water was so blue. I would love to do it again. The culture was so different from ours.

The dreamiest place I have ever been was Rotorua, New Zealand. It is a geothermal activity area and steam rises from the ground. The lakes have steam coming off of them 24/7 and have some of the most breathtaking sunrises and sunsets. You are able to visit the Polynesian spa and take baths in the HOT mineral pools which leave you feeling so relaxed that you have to sit on the edge of the pool for a couple of minutes to regain you composure and be able to walk. I sincerely want to go back ASAP!!!

Hmm… I had visited Singapore…. a year after my wedding… just a postponed HONEYMOON…… I loved the place the most because I was with my sweetheart, discovering, learning & having fun….. I liked the place because it was totally systematic kind…… No feeling of messiness…. I liked the people who were so helpful in helping us around… And that was my first ‘Out Of The Country’ Trip….. Everything I saw was beautiful…… & wanna visit that place again, before we bid goodbye to the world, with my love & sweet heart, of course…. No one like him to make me feel special…… ALWAYS!!!!!

OK – now I will not have time to create this week – because I can see you have so much beautiful stuff I will have to come back and look several times. Back to your question – I have seen many beautiful sites as my job allows me to travel. But one of my favourite sites is in southern France – when you suddently pass a field of lavenders – with rows and rows of them – a lovely smell and a tiny old house somewhere in the middle – add a beautiful blue sky and the fact I am on vacation when I see this and it is pure bliss.

Hello Becca, you are always so generous with your blog candy! Thank you so much for another chance to win lovely stuff!
Well, I have a few places I dream about, my main dream is going to Japan as I love everything about that country.
But as you asked about places I’ve been that are dreamy for me, there are two that spring to mind! First my honeymoon destination: Iceland! Truly out of this world. So different and a bit otherworldly, too. It was very expensive but wonderful and wondrous. I hope to go again one day.
And the other is a little less exotic but I loved it nevertheless, so much so actually I went 7 times in a row! It is a place in Greece called Epidaphros/Epidavros and it is just special to me. It was the first place I visited without my parents at the age of 16 with my boyfriend at the time. It was a very big deal to me to go on my own and with a boy none the less! I had a great time with lots of history an culture as well as beautiful walks in the amazing scenery and a litte bit of partying as well, but just a bit *lol*
Hope this wets your appetite for some travelling…
Love, Alexandra

I must say, I am not a wealthy person, but I managed to travel twice when I was young to some distant places, but now I am a bit older- when I wake in the morning and look out my window, and see the beautiful sun rises and settings- I think there is not a more beautiful place than here with my babes asleep upstairs, and this glorious backdrop. Really.

For today I will say the island in St. John, V.I. My favorite palce in the whole world to sit is on the soft white sands at Trunkbay overlooking the crystal agua blue warm water. There is a small island to snorkel around and you can hear the sea gulls talking al day. The soft tropical breezes gently go by keepintg you cool enough not to be hot. Yes that is what takes my breath away. Now I must get my mind back here in R.I. where snow is coming in a few hours. boy do I not want to leave my memories.

The Lake Superior Circle Tour that we did last summer provided some stunning views of the lake. The view from Lake Superior Provincial Park (NW of Sault St. Marie, Canada) was beautiful. You just have to respect Lake Superior – calm one moment and then foaming waves the next. The drive from Sault St. Marie to Marathon, Canada is stunning. Jump over to Grand Marais, Minnesota and you see a calmer side of Lake Superior! Get a donut from the ‘world’s best donut’ shop and a cup of coffee and just sit in your lawn chair by the bay and take it all in – wow! Copper Harbor, Michigan completes my list today. The drive on the west side of the peninsula to Copper Harbor is wonderful (a stop at the Jam Pot is a must!) and you get a completely different perspective of Lake Superior. We have been blessed !

Thank you for another opportunity for some goodies.

My dream place may only be mine…last October my sister in law took me to Europe for 4 weeks and I was able to go back to my home town Harderwijk a small city in Holland where I was born and have never been able to go back to, we migrated to Australia when I had just turned seven. We stayed right in the middle of the old town and it was beautiful, they take so much pride in their town, there’s no graffiti no rubbish it was just beautiful, little cobblestoned streets, I could go on for hours, but I won’t :)

I’m living in France and my favorite place is Le lac d’Annecy (Annecy’s Lake). The particularity of this lake is that it is in the middle of the mountains, the Alples.
When you are near the lake you can admire the mountains, and during the summer, you can see some people going down from the mountains with parachutes, and you can also assist to their jump in the road of the mountain.
My second favorite place is in the kitchen is here, on the table, with my laptop, admiring all things you share with us and many others blogers we can meet only by surfing on the internet.
Have a great day,

Asilomar really gets me. Its in Monterey/Carmel so you can imagine the scenary. Its right at the tail of the famous 17 mile drive. Its a state park, architect was the same as Hearst castle but its in the rustic look. Where else do PEOPLE have to walk on the wooden path on the beach but the DEER can walk where ever they want? Its serene, I always feel peaceful there.

I am originally from Africa, and I can say there are so many beautiful places in Zimbabwe, Malawi and South Africa. I could set up an itinery for you for at least a month’s holiday and you would still only see half of it. The mountain and sea views of Capetown to the animals of Kruger National Park and Wankie Game Reserve in Zimbabwe. The ethereal Victoria Falls and eirie Zimbabwe ruins also in Zimbabwe to the shocking but still beautiful squatter camps built on the hillsides overlooking the inland lakes of Knysna on the Garden Route in South Africa. In Malawi, the mountain range above Zomba or the brightly coloured tropical fish eating the hairs on your legs in Lake Malawi. The scenes are so diverse and amazing, you will not want to leave.
But your cards are what inspire me at the moment. I have become an avid fan of your beautiful, classy style. Keep it up.

In 1985 I was fortunate in that I won 2 adult airline tickets to fly from Toronto, Canada to Amsterdam, The Netherlands. We bought airline tickets for my daughter who was 10 and my son who was 8 and in May 1986, we flew to Amsterdam. #1 on my list to visit was Keukenhof but my Dad told me that the tulips would be finished as they have an earlier Spring than we do here in Canada. Well, we lucked out as they had a late Spring that year and all the tulips were in full bloom. Keukenhof is a large park near Amsterdam and it covers 32 hectares (79 acres) with 4.5 million tulips in 100 varieties. This park is huge and gorgeous! You can also see a windmill, tulip fields as well as other varieties of spring bulb flowers – each one planted by hand. This year they are celebrating 61 years (the same age that I will be come August). I was born in The Netherlands and this visit was a dream come true. We all had a great time and I was able to visit a lot of my relatives while I was there and still keep in touch with some of my cousins.

I’ve been to Greece, I stayed with my in-laws in a small village. The country is beautiful and the water is the color God has intended it to be just beautiful. Years ago the people from the small villages got around using donkeys. Oh the beauty of that, it made me think of the biblical days.Things around noon would shut down so people could take their daily naps and dinner was always served between 8-9 Pm daily. It actually was quite refreshing. I’ve been several times and never tire of the experience and I’m looking forward to going again. Good luck everyone. Thanks for the opportunity Becca. :-D

My “Calgon take me away moments” are close to home. We have a cabin that is 17 miles door to door from the house in town. My dreamy moments are in my double open red kayak on Caribou Lake! There is nothing more dreamy than eagles soaring overhead..or paddling through a fresh crust of ice in early spring or late fall or just laying back and soaking up the sights and sounds. More kayaking dreamy moments tomorrow!

12 + years ago I had the good fortune to win a trip to Maui. If there is a paradise on earth it is Maui.

The weather is perfect all the time with daytime temperatures in the mid to upper 70′s and night time temperatures in the upper 60′s At 3 P.M every day “one cloud” goes over and sprinkles a 5 minutes of rain. Businesses and restaurants do not have windows or screens because there are no insects nor inclement weather. There are few little harmless lizards that mill about catching any stray insect that managed to get to the island.
The restaurants serve fish that was caught that day and people sit to eat near opens windows overlooking the ocean .
The stores sell coconuts and pineapples that just fell from the trees.

Even though it is surrounded by ocean water there is no humidity. The plants absorb the moisture from the air rather than their roots.

The people there are delightful and have their priorities straight :) They spend their time with family and friends at the beach on the ocean. The humpbacked whales come there every spring to breed. They are protected . I went on a whale watching boat and saw these magnificent creatures as they swam right under our boat and leaped into the air. The only landscaped properties are golf courses. The residential properties and other businesses allow the natural plants to grace their yards. They don’t want to waste precious time mowing or weeding. LOL

I am not a crier but I cried when I left . It was so beautiful and I knew I could never afford to go back.
I have been told by people who have visited Maui “and” the Big island of Hawaii that Maui is by far the most beautiful of the two.
Becca if you ever have the opportunity to go please visit Maui.

This will sound corny, but last summer my husband and I visited Mackinac Island in Michigan. We couldn’t afford to stay on the island so chose a much cheaper motel nearby. When we arrived and opened the door to our room, we were welcomed with a crisp, cool refreshing breeze that came from the wide-open windows on the other side of the room that showed off beautiful Lake Michigan….it was awesome. Our senses sang.

Almost 20 years ago, I spent the summer going to school in Ireland. I was working at a hotel and sometimes they let us work a bunch of days in a row so that we could get 4 or 5 days off. My late DH and I decided to take 4 days and go to Paris. We had no idea what we were doing and when we landed, we didn’t even have a hotel room. We wandered the streets with our bags until we were lucky enough to find a place. It wasn’t 5 stars, but it was cute, clean and had a great view of the city.

The first night we went on a bus tour that the hotel recommended and we wrote a list of all the places we wanted to get a closer look at. We then spent the next four days exploring the streets of Paris. They were long 14 hour days, but they were well worth the exhaustion. We saw the Louvre, the Opera House, Notre Dame, the Trocadero, took a boat ride down the Seine, and of course, the Eiffel Tower. We bought charcoal and watercolor paintings from local artists on the street, we had our caricatures drawn in the courtyard in front of Notre Dame and every night, we would take the Metro to this tiny little carnival just to eat french hot dogs and sit on top of the ferris wheel to stare at the Eiffel Tower. It was the most spontaneous trip I ever took and I will never forget it. To this day, my home is filled with Eiffel Tower prints and collectibles, so that I can always remember being 22 years old and being lucky enough to visit one of the most beautiful cities in the world!

Hmmmmmm…..so many lovely places in my travels, but I think the most breathtaking was a place called Blue Valley in North Carolina. We stopped there for the night on the way to taking my son’s Boy Scout troop to summer camp in Rainey Mtn. Georgia. The Scoutmaster had visited there every summer when he was a boy and decided to take the troop to camp a day early so we could all camp there. Don’t even know how to get there again, the mountains, twisting roads, waterfalls, and swimming holes made it an incredible get away. If only I hadn’t had poison ivy on my feet and spent most of the night wading in the creep to stop the itching!

Great Blog Candy! Someplace dreamy….hmmmmmm…..dreamy….. Can’t say I have been, can’t say I haven’t been. I have been to Amish country where the life was so simple and I thought how great that would be. Then I realized how much I depend on electricity, running water, washing machine and dryer and realized it was a great place to visit and a peaceful time. I have also been to Stone Mountain Georgia, and what a beautiful place! So many trees, flowers, and the view! Oh My Goodness. However still not sure they are dreamy.

I am a beach gal! So anywhere I can go to a seaside or beach location, it’s heaven to me.

We went to Ambergris Cay in Belize years ago. It is one of the most beautiful, natural places in the world. The water is so pristine and tropical fish swim all around you as you move through the gorgeous coral reef! You feel like you are in an aquariam! It is breathtaking to say the least. I am thankful for the trip and would love to return.

Good morning Becca, I found your blog last night, I really enjoyed going through your Blog. I spent alot time on your blog and YouTube watching your videos. I don’t get to go too many places, like you I’m tethered also.
Years ago I did Moorehead, NC. It was a quaint little seaport town. There were so many beautiful old houses. While there we saw the wild horses and went on a romantic night time cruise, where I froze. I enjoyed going to the many antique stores and just being with my husband.

I grew up in Ireland, left in my late teens. Going back for a visit one winter the weather was so miserable, no sun for 2 weeks that I swore I’d never go back. So much for swearing. A lot of years later I went back with one of my sons, we visited all the places I grew up in, saw relatives and old friends and rented a car and drove all over the north. We visited just about every pile of rocks that were ever called something, even places around where I lived that I hadn’t known existed. At one point it was like the country spoke to me, ‘where have you been?’ I’ve since been back again and will do so when I can. The country keeps callilng me back, weather and all.
Thanks for all the inspiration

The most beautiful lake I have ever seem is lake Tahoe. It is a mountain lake with clarity that is amazing. you can see the bottom 15 feet above. I saw a book once with pictures of the most beautiful lakes in the world and I thought Tahoe was the most spectacular. I have fond memories of Tahoe as my family visited there many summers. Just relaxing and swimming mostly. the Cabin we rented had no Tv, so we did jigsaw puzzles, read, and enjoyed family and friends. We went to church outdoors under the pine trees. You really felt the presence of God in this beautiful setting. I have enjoyed reading everyones commemts. It is wonderful to see a place through someone else’s eyes.

One of the most beautiful places I have been was the town garden in Mansfield, OH. I found myself in Mansfield on business with 10 other people, one of whom was born and raised there. She knew ALL of the best places to eat and visit. One day after work she took us to the town garden. Since it was summer, the garden was in full bloom and smelled absolutely wonderful!! Honey bees and butterflies were flying from flower to flower. There was a slight breeze which lifted the scent of the flowers into the air. I love to garden and being there was heaven!!

Love this question Becca! The most enchanting place I’ve ever visited was Savannah in the Spring! I’ve been to many beautiful places, so this might seem like a strange place to talk about, but no place has ever left a print on my heart like Savannah did. It was late March, and the azaleas were in full, glorious bloom. There was exquisite color everywhere; I’ve never seen anything like it! I remember walking down a street one day, passing a trellis covered in wisteria, and the smell overtook me, it was truly heavenly!! We stayed in a beautiful old hotel right on the Savannah waterfront, and from our balcony we could sit and watch the huge steamer ships come and go with their cargo. Our hotel room was loft style, and there was a skylight above our bed, and I remember lying in bed with a full moon shining down on me, I tell ya, it just doesn’t get any better than that! I could go on and on, but I’ll stop here. Savannah in the Spring, I HIGHLY recommend it!

In 1993 I went to Barbados to visit one of my very first pen pals I ever had. His name was Tony & he was studying to become a minister. I stayed with his family. The beaches there are absolutely wonderful & I hope that one day I can take my husband there=) One of the neatest things I got to do was go to an old cemetery. I know that sounds strange but the headstones were so interesting to read. Most of the people in that particular cemetary had come from England back in the 1800′s. Each headstone told a brief story about the person buried there. Some were slaves. Some were relatives of royalty from England; and many other interesting stories. Just so much rich history there. The people were the most friendliest I’ve ever met. The foods were delicious & the family I stayed with had monkeys living in their back yard. Naughty little monkeys, at that. I truly think that everyone needs to go to a different country & learn about different cultures. There are some real eye openers in many places. I am now disabled but hold that trip in a very special place in my heart. Thank you for the chance at blog candy=)

My dreamy place is Dyers Bay, Ontario Canada. Quiet secluded area. Beautiful view of the tip of the Georgian Bay. High cliffs behind you, trees- I love the birch trees ( I used to take the bark and make a canoe when I was a child), small cottages, a lighthouse a few miles up the road. VERY Quiet there, and relaxing. Becca – love you artwork, ideas, and creativity. When I grow up – I want to craft like you.

Pretty simple – Hawaii! – and to be honest I would have only dreamed of going there if it hadn’t been for our daughter moving there! I love the islands and I love the people (don’t like the “touristie’) so much. But because she is ‘family’ there now we have met so many people that call O’ahu home and they are people just like you would meet any where. My first visit there we did go see the ‘major’ attractions. At those sites it is a major emphasize on their history. So I guess I learned to look beyond the cover and discover the pages that make such a beautiful land and people who help create it.

Hey Beccca, although my husband is retired military, we never traveled too far during his career.Mainly we traveled to see family. The most beautiful trip was not where I visited, but who visited me. We had almost all of both sides of the family, and many of our good friends, in one place for a weekend. I walked around my home in awe as people came in and out of my home. During the wedding I kept thinking I need to inhale every moment because this will not happen ever again, and how lucky I was to have eveyone here. So the most beautiful place I have been is my very own livingroom. The best moment of that , while I am sharing. . . was being able to see my Mother-in-law celebrate Thanksgiving for the first time with her siblings in over 20 years. Having everyone, hand in hand in a big circle while my husbands godfather said grace. . . it was truly an amazing weekend.
I believe it is not the place you are at but who who you are with that make these moments so special.
Thanks for the opportunity, to win some great stuff.

I think southwest Virginia, near Abingdon and up toward West Virginia where you go past Burke’s Garden in the Appalachians is beautiful. Burke’s Garden was the first choice for the place to buy and build the Biltmore, but the property owners refused to sell! So they built it in Asheville.
But even more beautiful than that is the Grand Canyon. It is beyond description and looks unreal when you are standing before it.
Another gorgeous drive is along the Columbia River at the bottom of Oregon. A breath-taking view around every bend.
Love your beautiful work Becca!

Dreamy? As in tropical paradise? Only in my dreams! My husband and I did venture to Maine for our anniversary 20 years ago this coming July. We are both rural, farming families who never vacationed anywhere with our families .. we even came home a day early from our honeymoon! Now, with 4 teenaged children we do not venture far. Guess we just love home, although we do love it when we do get to travel. So, we can plan and dream of faraways places. Those Spellbinder dies in your blog candy appeal to my dreamy eyes — as that is all I can do about those items is dream!! WOW, what great blog candy girl! I do not own any Spellbinders yet. Here’s hoping I can win some. Well, I’ve been to a few places as some have already stated: Biltmore House in Asheville, NC is awesome – if you want to get a peek of it, rent the DVD BEING THERE, with Peter Sellers and Shirley MacLaine. Alot of it was filmed in the Biltmore House, especially those scenes in the bedroom. Also been to Las Vegas, which was a treat for me, just to see, Disney, Southern CA (this was a beautiful drive from San Diego going north – to be able to see the ocean from the interstate was so beautiful! The coastline there is more jagged that it is on the East Coast. Beautiful scenes though. But more recently, I went on a cruise to Alaska – man, that was BEAUTIFUL! The ice glaciers were just a magnificient scene! We went the first week in september and the weather was the BEST there – no rain and it was nice to walk around to see each location without having coats on. We got on the ocean in a boat to watch the whales, and we took tours in the capital of Juneau – and took a dog sledding ride. It was very nice. But I must say, one of the most loveliest scenes I have seen is while driving from NC to FL late in the evening, there was the sun up in the sky – and it was the most beautiful scene I’d ever seen before – wished I had gotten a picture I could share with you. It was so peaceful, and just a great way that GOD was talking to me of his wonderful creations – he’s awesome for sure. I’ve never been overseas to other countries, but would love to go. Bahamas was very nice too – but I have to say still, “there’s no place like home” – so enjoy your place at home, and know you are probably seeing the most awesome there is in the US by being there. Take care -

I was married to a sailor for 14 years and through him I was able to leave Seattle and travel from WA to CA to HI to ID to CT to CA and back to WA. It was the best learning experience ever. But, as far as the best vacation I find it hard to pinpoint. We went to Florida and saw 2 Cirque du Soliel shows…now that was great. Then again, we went to Arizona and toured the Biosphere…WOW! Living in Hawaii should have been like being on a vacation for 2 years…not for me since I gave birth 2 weeks after arriving and husband went directly out to sea. While in Connecticut I had a baby and then traveled throughout New England…amazing. Idaho, never even once, felt like a vacation. That winter it was -65 degrees with wind chill factor and this was where I spent most of my first preggy. The Hearst Castle in CA…unbelieveable! Touring Wash DC, the White House and Arlington Cemetery…awesome. Staying in a beautiful victorian hotel in Victoria, BC, Canada…very english and great high tea. Taking our 6 year old granddaughter to Vail, CO for some white water rafting…she loved it and we were worn out. I guess the one memory that stands out (and it wasn’t even on vacation) was just outside of San Fransisco at Muir Beach by the Muir headlands…eyes half closed and shielded by an umbrella, light breeze blowing over my bathing suit clad body, listening to the waves sloshing onto shore and pulling their way back to the sea, knowing that in an hour I must jet back home and retrieve my children from a public school on a closed military base, and still I relax just enough to forge a deep memory that I now use for meditation to relieve stress and sleep. I’m happy!

My husband and I discovered cruising in the later years and the most beautiful place I’ve ever seen is Alaska. I remember the last time we were there, standing in the middle of Skagway, a town of only 800 people year round, and looking up at the towering mountains with turquoise glaciers tucked away in nooks and crannies. It can be cold and rainy the time of year we choose to go but I live in Arizona and rain is a novelty. For my money Alaska has the most panoramic views I’ve ever seen.

One of the places I dream about is to visit Australia. I have a pen pal and we have been writing each other since 1965. I got her name at the N.Y.World’s Fair from a giant computer. Sue has shared her life there and the places she has visited there.I have shared my life in the US. Sue visited us about 25 years ago. During her brief visit, my husband arranged a friend to watch the boys and I traveled with her to NYC area to visit my family. The highlight for me was sharing the top of the Empire State building with her, just like in Sleepless in Seattle. I hope to get to visit her homeland one day, but I have a lifetime of memories shared with her through the mail and now through emails.

Morning,

I’ve travelled a little but have moved around the country. Born and raised in Canada and have recently moved to Texas. Each place we lived was special and breathtaking. You never realize what is just out your own backdoor until it is gone. The Rocky Mountains were fabulous but when I lived there I thought they were boring. Living next to the ocean in Newfoundland was spectacular. I look forward to all the things my backdoor can show me in Texas.

My husband and I just got back from a Christian cruise to the Bahamas. The cruise line owns this private stretch of beach which is called Half Moom Cay in the Bahamas. The water was absolutely breathtaking. The shades of blue ranged from navy blue all the way to crystal clear and every shade inbetween. Even at the Navy blue stage it was clear to the bottom. I stood on our cabin balcony and looked down and could see the bottom. Since a cruise ship was there, you know it had to be deep. The sand on the beach felt like soft suede. It was so silky, not pebbly or with a lot of shells. All I could think of when I was walking along the beach was “Only God could make something so absolutely breaktaking for us to enjoy.” Hope you get to go someday–a Christian cruise is definitely the way to go–no drinking, no casinos, great fellowship, great music, Christian entertainment. Wonderful–I highly recommend it.

A dreamy place that comes to mind that I visited was: last year when I went to CA to visit my daughter for a couple of weeks we would try to take as many walks as we could fit in. This one particular night we walked along this pond as the sun was going down, and it happened to beautiful that night, there was a young man fishing on one edge, a couple sitting in a row boat out in the middle of the pond and there were ducks swimming across, a variety of birds and other creatures that I had no idea what they were. It was such a peaceful walk that I really felt like I was in dreamland. Thanks so much for offering more blog candy, something that I have never won before but haven’t given up trying. The island of Kuai in Hawaii……we would go back there in a hearbeat. Lots of hiking trails that lead to waterfalls of all sizes and other hiking trails to beaches. When we got out of the airport to get the car, the smell of the flowers was just amazing!!!!! Part of the island is called (if I remember right) the Grand Canyon of the Pacific because it is a desert like canyon with cactus and red dirt. The other part of the island is tropical, so in a 30 min drive you go from one type of beauty to another! There are trees with the biggest trumpet shaped white flowers, too. We were there about 15 years ago, and its a trip we won’t forget.

My husband has taken me to some incredible places. But, I have to say that our trip to Hawaii truly showed me what paradise is all about. Each island is distinctively different. The sunsets are incredible. The temps are perfect. The plants and vegetation are amazing! It’s…paradise!

My favorite vacation of all time was a week in the Lauterbrunnen Valley in Switzerland. We stayed at the Silberhorn in Lauterbrunnen, and each day took a different hike with one breathtaking view after another. It was September and the weather was perfect, cool in the mornings with the jackets pulled off after an hour on the trails, which are so easy to follow. I’m a mountain lover and the Alps are spectacular!

I think my favorite trip was to the island of Hawaii. The island itself is so different depending on where you go there. There are major cities that look pretty much like any other city. But drive just out of the city and one side of the island is black lava fields. Drive south and you get sandy beaches of lots of different colors where the wildlife like big sea turtles sunning themselves. As you drive to the west side of the island it’s rain forest; huge tall trees, waterfalls and gorgeous flowers. And the north side of the island is similar to the midwest area. It was a lovely trip and it’s easy to see just about everything on the island.

We visited Ireland for a very quick 4 day tour. It was over Thanksgiving break, so we had no idea what to expect. The crowds were thin, and the weather very bearble, fall weather temps with no rain!
The green there is so different from here. It is amazing to drive around and see, in the middle of pastures, an ancient crumbling structure – and I mean several hundred years old.
The rural areas were my favorites. But the best part was the people. I have never seen so many kind, considerate, friendly and laid-back people. I never heard a horn honk, saw an unfriendly exchange between people, or saw an inkling of impatience.
I’ll write more about it tomorrow. There is just so much to tell.

Oh Becca- this is another hard question for me! Just like we never go to movies, we never travel-LOL! But this past year we did! We went to Williamsburg VA and fell in love with it again. We honeymooned there 24 years ago. We love it! On the beauty scale it may not rank up there but to us it is beautiful and moving, full of history, stories and imagination!

A few months after ’9-11′, my brother and I visited our family in Sicily, Italy. The entire place was breathtaking. The waters were so clear that you could see the ocean floor for miles out, so many restaurants placed their dining tables on the roof tops so customers could enjoy the view- I want to go back there with my husband and children to share my heritage and revisit the lovely old world charm that is still alive there.

Hi Becca! Thanks for the chance to win the awesome blog candy! I was lucky enough to live in La Jolla, CA for several years so I didn’t have to go far for a dream spot! One of the most memorable trips DH and I have ever taken, though, was a walking tour of Tuscany. The scenery was absolutely gorgeous and it was wonderful to be able to walk the country roads, visit the villages and vineyards and meet the local residents. It was so peaceful there, away from the bustle of city life! I would highly recommend it and would love to go back!

My favorite “dreamy ” place is the Saint Nicholas church, a tiny, truly tiny little church in Oberndorf, Austria where the original Christmas carol “Silent Night” was first performed in 1818. When we visited, it actually gave me chills to think that such a beautiful piece of music, a carol that we all know and love was debuted right her in this “dreamy” “tiny” place. Truly memorable.

Becca,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,as a career Air Force wife our family has been to many places around the world.

I would say………by far………..the most dreamy experience I’ve had was standing on the Eifel Tower with my husband at sunset.
Doesn’t get much better then that………….

Of course we’ve cruised many times and watching the sunset OR sunrise on the balcony of a cruise ship is pretty spectacular too !!!

OK……….here’s the question…………….how do we get to your content page to find out who wins ??? I’m not sure where that is.

Thanks
And God Bless.

I love Paris. It really is a beautiful city with so many places to explore. I always like to stay by the Eiffel Tower so that if I get lost in the city, I can always find my way back by just walking toward it. So many of the historical sites are within walking distance of that area, I just love it. Try to get there some time if you haven’t already been.

i love all of your creations and am in awe of them. some of the best trips i’ve had have been simple things. one i remember fondly was a day i spent at the beach in florida. i spent hours playing with the snails. i would watch the tide come in and out and the snail would pop up and then borrough back down again. i remember how peaceful that was for me and wondered if i could sit and watch it forever. then life came along and back to hectic. thanks for letting us share our stories.

Having travelled practically almost 3/4 of the earth/world – I have two places that I would love to go back and live there, the first one is Sychelles and the second is Denver Colorado Springs!!!! both these places took my breath away!
The water, the people and the Tortoise of Sychelles was like visiting Paradise!! every moment is burnt on my brain.
Colorado was visited by me in the Sept/Oct’93 and the colours of the leaves, the sky and simply the feeling of being there was the coolest thing I had seen! my heart was full of all those colours in the trees… simply beyond expression!!
Right now we live in England and although it is serene and beautiful in the country side, I some how feel the people are so cold!! well I am still be meet somebody warm and friendly!! Thank you for the lovely candy, it is so kind of you!! Talk to you soon! HUgs always G

Good Morning Becca! This will be a hard topic to do, because it seems I am always finding new places that take my breath away!

Day 1 – Sedona – It is so beautiful there! The first time I went was a few years ago. We went back a year later and rented a cabin. I didn’t want to leave! The colors are stunning! It’s so peaceful! My husband and I are even thinking of moving there once the kids are on their own.

I was just in Southern California visiting family and friends for 19 days..one of my most favorite days was spending time with my Mom (recently widowed) in a darling little Dutch town..Solvang complete with windmills! I actually got to go there twice in one week.

My favorite thing to eat there is Aebleskivers..yummies..I might have to buy a pan and make some for my husband..a danish donut.

I had a lovely time it was hard to come back to the cold snowy state of Pennsylvania! But I did miss my dh ..so I am back! I missed two HUGE snowstorms near the beginning of Feb2010!!

My favorite place to go is the island of Kauai in Hawaii. It is amazing! The lava rock beaches on the south side of the island are so beautiful. (If you are there are sunset, it truly takes your breath away.) Then you drive along and stop at the shrimp burger stand for a snack. Whoa mama! Delish! Of course, anywhere you eat has fresh fish on the menu and it doesn’t get much fresher unless it’s still swimming! One morning you venture up to the top of Mount Wai’ale’ale to see the views of the island. Then you drive to Waimea Canyon, also called the Grand Canyon of the Pacific. It’s unbelievable! Every little stop on the way around the canyon is more beautiful than the last. You make your way to the ‘Fantasy Island’ waterfall and once again are stunned by it’s beauty. As you leave the canyon and drive around the south then east side of the island you notice interesting ‘shapes’ in the mountains. You see Queen Victoria, the sleeping giant and king kong. As you continue to drive north you to the top of the island the lava rock is not as prevalent, but the red dirt is everywhere. On the north side of the island you will find my most favorite spot in the whole world. Ke’e beach. It is at the end of the road. If you keep going, you’ll land in the Pacific. When you stand on Ke’e beach and look to your left, you’ll see the Na Pali Coast line. One of the most amazing things I’ve ever seen. You know how when you were a kid and you took thick mud and squeezed it in you hand and when you opened your hand, the mud had ridges in it? Na Pali Coast looks like that. Like God took the land and squeezed it between his fingers and put it back down. Then there’s Hanalei. I’ll tell you more about that tomorrow.

My dad was a career army man so we traveled a lot – but it was all within the USA. I did live in Hawaii for about 3 years — but i was so young (I was 6weeks old when we moved) I have no memories of it. Some of the places i have been as an adult that I found to be beautiful are the Rocky Mtns, Grand Canyon, Yellowstone, Mesa Verde, some of the western Caribbean islands, Israel, and Romania. Our daughter was a volunteer missionary for a year in Romania and we visited her during that year. Today, she and her hubby are “tent-maker missionaries” in Romania, trying to secure enough employment in the country to be able to live and to help train some men in a trade (so they are able to provide for their families) as well as influence them with the Gospel. We hope to return for several visits to Romania — and see our daughter and her family as well.

Most of our traveling means getting on a cruise ship, but we try to go somewhere different every time. The most dreamy place I’ve seen is Belize, with its white sand beaches, lush greenery/gardens and abundant wildlife. We stayed at a gorgeous ranch with individual cabins, which had banana trees and beautiful birds of paradise just outside the door. We went on a horseback riding tour through the jungle with iguanas and exotic birds in the trees and on the way back, we rode through an orange grove where we were treated to the tastiest fruit I’ve ever had! That’s what I call dreamy. *grin*

For me there are a couple places, my first choice would be Montego Bay, Jamaica. although when I got off the plane and was riding through town to get to the resort it was a very sobbering experience. For the life of me the overwhelming poverty was an eye opener as to how good we have it here in the States and don’t truly realize it. once we got to the Half Moon Resort it was like heaven on earth. The most beautiful scenery that you cold possible imagine. Second choice would be Netherlands Antilles – Curacao the people are so friendly the buildings/houses vibrant with color.

I started to put $25 away each payday when my husband and I were married close to 19 years. Then for our 25th anniversary, we went to Hawaii for a cruise for 11 days. When we married (at 19 and 20) we had no money and ended up staying at his brother’s house after a 16 hour car ride. For 25 years we have hardly been farther then an hours drive from our home. This was something to go from Ontario, Canada to Hawaii. I will always remember this little splurge we spent on ourselve. God certainly has made some beautifully places, this also includes home.

I want to go back to Hawaii. It is gorgeous. Everything is green and beautiful. There are no bugs and everything is out in the open. The first thing that I was amazed at was that there were no doors at the airport or lobby of the hotel. Everything is open. Since I have been to 49 of the 50 states, this is the most beautiful. Dear Becca
During the early years of our marriage my husband and I travelled quite a lot but once we had Kids we always went together as a Family.
Family to me is the focal point of life and sharing times together is what its all about.
I feel lucky that we were able in those years to see some beautiful places and now we share all the memories.
The place we loved the most was a small island near Naples called Marco Island off the coast of Florida. My dream place !!
Your work is amazing and keeps me trying to do better all the time.

This is a no-brainer for me, Becca … my answer is Ireland! The first time I went, I set foot on Irish soil and felt like I was home. It doesn’t matter where in Ireland – it is all beautiful. And the people are amazing! I remember stopping at a crossroads, not sure which way to turn to get to my next destination. All of a sudden, a gentleman walked out of his house and up to my car and asked if he could help me find my way. I’ve been there 3 times and each time, I leave a little more of my heart.

I really don’t get much of an opportunity to travel. My husband works for a farm and ranch, so that really limits the time we spend away from home. We only travel at the present time to visit grandchildren and maybe a little side trip while there. One of the most beautiful places we have been able to see is, the wide open spaces of Wyoming. From the northern area full of forests, trees and streams to the sage brush of the south. We always see wonderful wildlife and enjoy the quiet.

The beach and ocean really speak to me. Our daughter just got married January 15th on the beach at Maramosa, Mexico. The wedding was relaxed, romantic, beautiful and attended by those who mean the most to the two of them – 17 guests. The turquoise ocean in the background was breathtaking. One of your other commenters mentioned a Christian cruise – that would be heaven for me especially to listen to all gospel music and be with my family in Christ.

I have been lucky to travel to some beautiful places due to my husband’s job. I did not get on an airplane until I was 35 and my first flight was to England. Several people listed the Blue Ridge Mountains which is where I live so I can’t count them since I see them everyday. I live 20 miles form the Biltmore House and have been there many times and it is truly amazing. Well on to my top spot! It would have to be Portofino, Italy. A small seaport situated on a picturesque hillside loaded with quaint pastel houses and shops. I’ll bet many of you have seen pictures of Porto Fino and not known where it was located. Look it up and check out the pictures. It is a spectacular setting. I would love to return one day.

My most beautiful scenery memory would be when I was a member of an orchestra, and we travelled to Banff, Alberta Canada (outside of Calgary), where the mountains were breath-taking. Every day I’d get up and see something a bit different. It was in april, 1983, and there was still snow on the ground in the mountains, and I was overwhelmed with the beauty that God created here, and thought that I’d love to go back there someday. If you ever get a chance to go there, I don’t think that you’ll be disappointed. I didn’t get to the hot springs (too busy taking master classes in my instrument, flute), but I’d spend time there on a subsequent trip if I ever had the opportunity to go again.

Thank you for the chance to win some blog candy, I’ve never won anything like that–it’s very generous of you, and I am in constant awe of the artistic talent that God has given you that you use and so kindly share with all of us.

Well, I would definitely recommend a trip to Alaska. It is a beautiful state and is so large that one can experience many types of geography. The coastal areas are beautiful with ocean, forests and mtns. The interior is vast and there is the Arctic region. Not a lot of city life in Alaska; however, Anchorage is very much a modern city. I lived in Alaska for 40 years (and still think of AK. as home even tho I no longer reside there), and return there for vacations frequently.

I went to Australia from the great USA. It is beautiful. But, as beautiful as it was, I could not help thinking that we have so much in the United States just as fascinating. One little example would be my review of the gazillion photos that I took of a great bridge in Sydney. Hi Becca, Visit your blog daily and enjoy everything you design thanks for sharing with us all.
Well this is a hard one. I do travel often but I would not say everytime is dreamy but always a fun time. I had the chance to go to Russia with my sister and we cruised from Moscow to St. Peterburg and we stopped at different places along the way. This is a beautiful country no really! I always thought of it as hard ugly country. I was truly surprised. They scrub down the streets at night in Moscow. What! We were on the deck of the ship and saw a double rainbow it was wonderful. The whole trip was one I will always remember. My Grandparent are from Russia so this trip really opened our eyes to how they lived.
Thanks for the chance to win some candy again. Have a great day.

I haven’t had the opportunity to go far, but we’d love to have you come visit us. Sault Ste. Marie, Canada is a beautiful border town, where there’s as much to do in the winter as there is in the summer. The Old Stone House, The Bush Plane Museum and Lake Superior are just a few of the many wonderful things there are to see here.

Three years ago on May 7, I lost my husband to an extended illness. I understand as a former care giver how important receiving positive thoughts can up lift your day. Our favorite place to visit had been Hawaii. My husband and I went on two cruises around the islands. The first was when he was healthy and the second was just before he bacame homebound. Both trips were wonderful but I think the second was more relaxing. Since we had done many of the tours on our first trip and his mobility was restricted on the second trip, we spent a lot of time just relaxing and smelling the roses. It is a beautiful place. Living in the snowy midwest made our January trips to Hawaii even that more enjoyable. God bless you and yours!

One of the most beautiful places I’ve been is Maggie Valley North Carolina at the foot of the Smokey Mountains. I was born and raised in Ogden Utah and moved to Florida in 1998, traded mountains for beach, I’m a mountain girl. I remarried in 2002 and we went to North Carolina/Tennessee for our honeymoon. As my husband drove I fell asleep, when I woke up I saw mountains, needless to say I cried. I didn’t realize how homesick I was until I saw those mountains. Three days into our visit, much to my delight it snowed…….cried again, didn’t realize how much I missed snow. We very seldom got snow in the middle of April in Utah……so snow in the middle of April in North Carolina????? We drove through the Smokey Mountain National Park (over to Gatlinburg TN) later in the day and it was a winter wonderland. The trees heavy with snow hung low over the road, the big rocks in the river had snow and ice on them, it was breathtaking. We go to Maggie Valley every year now, but I will never forget my first visit, Mother Nature put on a show just for me.

We went to Alaska on a cruise a few years ago, and it was breathtaking. God surely touched that place with his hand the colors are so crisp and rich and the land is so harsh. I took so many pictures and still didn’t capture the elegance and beauty of the surroundings.

Hi, Becca – My hat’s off to you as a care giver. I experienced 6 or 7 years of care giving to my husband, who had worsening dementia from mini strokes, so I know what it is like. I have traveled a lot, been to all but 4 of the US states and most of Canada, and to Europe once. There were so many beautiful places — the Canadian Rockies, Grand Canyon, Yellowstone, and of course my home state of North Carolina, but I think the most beautiful, pristine place I’ve ever been is Alaska. I took a land trip over most of Alaska, and truly, it is a place that “man hasn’t messed up!” I would love to go back again, but I am 90 years old now, and don’t travel much. May God bless as you care for a loved one.

Anyhow, I know our Lord loves us..the proof is in the most amazing country sights He has given us. It’s beauty in it’s land and see are beyond words. It truly made me feel so small against it’s magesty beauty. If you have not been there, I pray you have the chance to go one day. God Bless and keep well.

Powell Point, the Grand Canyon will always be a magical place for me. Besides being stunningly, awe-inspiringly beautiful (as most scenic views are at the Grand Canyon – you REALLY must go if you haven’t already!), it is the place where my husband proposed to me. Wow! Hi Becca, the most exciting place I’ve been in my life was Bermuda. We’ve been to Hawaii too but it was R&R during the time my husband was in Vietnam and I don’t have good memories. But Bermuda was small, clean, sparkling and there were so many little spots for peace and quiet. Shopping was good too. Now that was years ago and we haven’t been back but I sure would love to go again.

Hi Becca!!!!
I´m a very lucky mom!!! My son gave me a wonderful gift last year. We wnet to Europe and visited some absolutely wonderful cities.

I´ll never forgot Fatima. Lisbon is also such a great city. We also visited Paris with such wonderful places to go that you can stay there a whole month and don´t see all them. Chapel of Our Lady of Miraculous Medal was my first intention on the city. It was hard to find but we did!!! The Louvre Museum… absolutely wonderful. Venus de Milo has such a wonderful face that isn´t possible to describe. Champs Elysées, Tour Eiffel, Les Invalides, Petit and Grad Palais, Notre Dame, Lafayette Galleries… My God… there´re so many things that iI could be here all day remembering all them. We also visited a wonderful city on Belgium called Bruges. Absolutely great!!! Then we went to Amsterdam and there I could find a lot of wonderful papers and supplies for my crafts.
The people there is so charming and the food… fantastic!!!!

Thanks for the opportunity of such wonderful blog candy!!
Have a wonderful week!

Becca,

Sedona, Arizona is one of the places I remember that too my breathe away. The red clay, the huge hills or maybe they are mountains but hey are big! They were so beautiful that they made me want to climb them to the top and I believe I would have felt the hands of God if I had but I was not in good enough shape to get there. He amazing work was very apparent however, you could set there all day long and just gaze in amazement. I would like to go back some day and make that climb and I am working on getting in shape so that day can be possible.

My daughter lived in Alaska for a few years and I went to visit in the summer and the winter. The same landscape in two very different seasons. It was amazingly beautiful and the wildlife was so wonderful. I live in the southwest desert which certainly has a beauty of its own but there is no snow and not a lot of green so Alaska was a treat. Thank you for being so giving and for the great sharing of your fabulous talent and generosity!

I had the opportunity to go to the Bahamas with my mom and brother,
after three wonderful days at Walt Disney World we took a cruise
ship for 4 glorious days. When our ship docked in the Bahamas my brother took my mom and I on a walk through the city. Our experience of looking
at God’s creation was awesome, the blue sea and the beautiful faces of
the people were such a blessing. That is a trip that will forever be a
blessing that the Lord provided as that same year my mom suffered the
first of her small strokes which has left her with dementia (she is in
the last stages). I did a scrapbook for my mom on that trip and now
as we look at the pictures she does not remember any of it. So glad
we went and had that time with her while we could create memories.

Wow! Excited to be able to try again for some Blog Candy! I don’t even have to think hard about this one! Several years ago we went to Alaska. It was so wonderful and I am ready to go again. We flew into Ankorage and rented a car. We did a week of land travel then we went on a cruise down to Vancouver then flew home. It was the best vacation, the scenery was breaktaking. I would encourage everyone to take this trip and you won’t be sorry. We went in early June and the weather was cold but otherwise it was wonderful. We went as far back into Denali you can go and stayed a couple days. The only thing about it was it never got dark at night. We would look at our watch and realize it was 11:30pm and we had to make ourselves go to bed.

Thanks for another chance at winning some Blog Candy! Take care Becca and I just love everything you create!

One of the most beautiful places I’ve had the privilege to go, is snorkeling off one of the tiny islands in the South China Sea, off the coast of Okinawa. These islands are surrounded by azure blue crystal clear water, fantastic colored tropical fish, and fabulous corals and other sea life. The sands are spotted with picturesque hulls of decaying Japanese boats. The sun is warm, the sand is soft, and the setting just ideal.

Thanks for the reason to walk down memory lane! I’ll be back tomorrow with another trip!

I, too, have been fortunate to travel to many places in my life time, but the first place that came to mind was Santiago, Chile, maybe because of the recent earthquake that has devastated that country. I remember traveling from Chile to Buenos Aires, Argentina and all up and down the narrow mountainous country of Chile…some beautiful coastline, too. There were so many quaint little towns and shops where they handmade sweathers or little pottery towns where that was what everyone in the town did to make a living. The wine country was a sight to see…we toured some of the vineyards and it was quite an experience. Beautiful country! I pray God will watch over those people and they will find comfort in their time of need.

I’m pretty much a home-body due to bouts with agoraphobia. However, I went to the Outer Banks of North Carolina one year for vacation. Oh, I LOVED it. There was so much to see and do that I want to go back again one year. The beach was awesome (we found fossilized shark’s teeth), but so were all the sites there to see not to mention the awesome food.

One of the places I dream of visiting is France. I want to go browse through all the flea markets and junk shops I read about. Problem is, I do good to fly from New Orleans to Tampa without a nervous breakdown LOL.

Love the blog candy. I drooled all over my screen!

Hey There :) Thought I would jump in here and give you a little something dream about. I started flying when I was 21!! It took me a while. I would love to be in the sky all the time. But that is not possible I have two awesome little girls. I have been to Florida, Bahamas, Honolulu Hawaii, Vegas, California, Illinoisans, New Orland, Canada and a few other places just in the past three years. The one place that I keep going back to in my mind is Arizona. I got to go to the cannon pictures do not do it justice. I rode in the desert at night :) It almost feels like you can touch the stars if you through hands out the window. Colors are just amazing any kind of Orange, golds, yellow, green you can imagine. The blue sky are so crisp. I can see why Georgia O’Keeffe loved it there. Maybe someday I can move there:) I love the wild west:) I haven’t had a chance to go out to Britten or Ireland yet but that is on my list :) Have a great day !!

Yes, sure have. My husband, now retired Air Force got an assignment to Okinawa,Japan in 2004. I did not want to go as I heard horror stories about it. Well, it turned out to be the most beautiful place I have ever been. See, I am German and Germany is a pretty gorgeous place, but goodness, Okinawa is a tropical island and you’ll see the most beautiful flowers and besides the Typhoons that take place there and lots of rain and humidity everything grows literally like weeds ;D. The beaches have the whitest sand and the water is gorgeous. I have been to other countries before, but this place, was beyond my wildest imaginations beautiful and the people are so friendly. You are so sweet with this yummy candy, Becca!

Like many, I am not a great traveler, but one trip that sticks in my mind was when DH and I were still dating. We took a trip to a fishing lodge in the back woods of Canada. When we made the last turn off of a normal road, I knew I was in paradise. Four wheel drive was a must and bridges over gorges were planks. It was in the middle of one of those bridges that I saw my first moose. The lodge was rustic and the lakes were sparkling like diamonds. We were so blessed to see such beauty.

Thanks for letting me relive that memory. Wow!

I’ve traveled a lot around the United States and Canada and I have to say that almost any place you go and you see God’s handywork awe inspiring. The Grand Canyon, Arches, The Everglades, Shawnee Forest, Great Fall Montana, you name it and it takes your breath away.

If you’re looking for a “man made” site one of my favorite is Ste. Marie Amoung the Huron in Canada. Dates back to the 17th Century if memory serves me correctly and is beautifully preserved.

Hello Becca. Yummy candy again? I never win anything, but love to read your blog and enjoy your beautiful creations so much that I thought I would put in my two cents.
I am big on art history and archiutecture, and have always dreamed of going to Europe but have never been able to afford it. I had the opportunity to travel to Buenos Aires, Argentina and what a beautiful surprise that was to find that this city is very much European in its architecture and city planning. They are big on arts and I had the pleasure of attending a couple of concerts.
The botanical garden was just breathtaking!
So, having not fulfilled my dream of going to Europe, going to Buenos Aires was second best!
I still dream of one day going to France and Italy (at least).
You are wonderful inspiration.
Many thanks and best wishes,

Monica

Hi Becca,

I’ve thought about this one for awhile. I’ve never traveled overseas nor have I ever had the desire to as this country is so beautiful and there’s so much to see. We’ve lived in nearly every part of the country and our favorite place is Kentucky…the rolling hills, bluegrass (yes, it does look almost blue), the warm summers and mild (not this year!) winters, tulips, daffodils, creeping phlox and flowering trees in the spring..growing my own herbs and veggies the summer, canning tomatoes, baking bread. Watching the kids slide in puddles in the backyard in the rain, sledding down a snowy hill. Simple life, simple pleasures.

Becca, Hats off to you as a caregiver. Sometimes, it can be an overwhelming and thankless job. My husband and I have traveled over most of the United States but one of my favorite places is Oak Island, NC. When I cross over the bridge to go the the island I can feel the stress start to melt away. I have a very stressful job and that is the place where I can destress and relax. Walking on the beach, listening to the ocean, picking up shells or in the house stamping or sometimes I move out to the back porch to stamp.Seeing the sunset over the water. What wonderful color combinations that only God can create. I can only try to borrow from His handiwork.

Well, I know you only asked for one but I have two. The first is Alaska. We took a cruise there for our 25th and it was breathtaking. Not so much the cities but the land itself. If anyone ever doubted the existence of a higher being they would no more. Second would be Rome. We took our kids as a treat for their college and med school graduations. The churches and the Vatican were unreal. My daughter’s fiance was with us and they came home knowing they wanted to get married in a cathedral like those. We found a beautiful old church in a neighborhood here at home.

My husband and I used to travel a lot before we had kids. Since we had 3 boys, he still travels with work, but I’m pretty much home bound now. The 2 best places we went to are: Grand Cayman Island and Hawaii. Both were warm and sunny, snorkeling in the ocean with the big turtles, different fish and sting rays was absolutely wonderful. Sitting on the beach every night watching the sunset was very relaxing. We plan to go back after the boys are grown and on their own.

Dear Becca -

One of the nicest places I’ve been is actually Disney World. Now, please understand that my husband and I seldom take vacations away, we are real homebodies. So when my husband said he wanted to go to Disney World in 2004, I said to him, are you nuts, we have no little kids. At the time our son was 30. But he wanted to go and he wanted to stay at the Grand Floridian. The best vacation I ever had, the best hotel I’ve ever stayed at. Yes, we did the typical tour Disney, MGM Studios, Epcot, got on rides, Downtown Disney, bought things I didn’t need. But the place I would have been happy just lounging around at all day was the Grand Floridian. It was like stepping back to Victorian times (think of the movie – Somewhere in Time with Jane Seymour and Christopher Reeves). The grounds were beautiful, the employees were so nice, attentive and dressed in period costumes. The theme around the Grand Floridian is Alice in Wonderland. The atmosphere was so relaxed, they have a large pool and a beach with chairs that have coverings. The grounds are gorgeous, the rooms – beautiful, the service – first class. From the Grand Floridain grounds you can take a boat to the Magic Kingdom (you can see if from the hotel and catch the fireworks at night), a bus or the monorail to anywhere in Disney. Great restaurants, shops in the hotel. But the most beautiful place was the hotel lobby. They have a grand staircase (there were several weddings while we were there), an open cage elevator and the most beautiful chandeliers (huge). Gorgeous furniture and very comfortable, fresh flowers everywhere. In the evenings I loved to just sit with a book in the lobby or just watch people walk by. They always had some sort of live music playing in the lobby in the evenings.

I returned from this vacation very relaxed and refreshed. I would go again in a heartbeat.

My favorite place is the Kilauea Lighthouse on Kauai, Hawaii. The day I was there was very beautiful and the seas were very rough. The bird sanctuary right off the point was covered with thousands of birds. Off to the north I saw several humpback whales. I will never forget this sacred place. Here is a link to see this place. Wow. I can name a few:) today I’ll agree with Joyce as I’m reading everyone’s comments. Washington DC. I go every year and I think the history there makes it breathtaking. All the monuments and memorials. We also go during police week so there’s all kinds of police functions with honor guard competitions an pipe band parades. I am always amazed at how much of our history is there in that little town all within walking distance.

Hurray! More goodies! Thank you, Becca! The most recent beautiful place we visited was Glacier National Park in Montana this past summer! We were there @ the end of June, our son played in the snow, skiers were coming down thru Logan’s Pass and the contrast of colors! Perhaps it was my imagination, but the sky seemed sooooo much bluer than here in Ohio. The river changed color from clear to blue to green, back to blue as it flowed down the mountain. Snow capped mountains. Absolutely breathtaking! God did some of His best work there!

There have been many miracles in my life. Some are nature related – things experienced by only a few. When I read what you would like us to share, I thought of one.

It was Fall. DH and I had our Airstream trailer parked in Zion National Park in southern Utah. We were camped in a VERY old apple orchard, under trees with leaves in Autumn’s colors.

The orchard/campground/valley is bordered by high peaks so the valley was in shade until the sun rose higher in the sky. The sun was just starting to stream through the trailer’s windows and the air was crisp and clear. All of a sudden, it sounded as if it was raining outside. DH and I looked outside and what we saw was amazing!

It seems that the night before a layer of moisture had frozen on the leaves. As the sunlight hit that particular area of trees, it melted the ice causing the leaves to fall all at once from the trees! As the sunlight moved across the valley, the leaves that were getting sunlight, just fell at once. It was amazing. The trees that had shade kept their foliage until the sunlight hit them. The sound of the sudden dropping of leaves sounded like raindrops falling.

That was a beautiful gift from Mother Nature! The memory of 20 years ago is etched in my mind.

Thank you, Becca, for the chance to win some yummo blog candy!

We were stationed in England for 4 years while my husband was in the Air Force and I had always wanted to go, and it was as neat as I thought it would be, going to the different castles and stately homes in the country side was just beautiful, I also liked how their towns were not changed much over the years.

I can still remember sitting on a big rock at the shore…and having scraped my knee getting up there, I was bleeding a bit, so I wiped it off on the rock…it made me feel like I was connecting myself to the land of my ancestors. Keep in mind that I was 16 at the time, and a bit dreamy! LOL I haven’t been there in 21 years, so I imagine it has changed quite a bit from what I remember, but it is still beautiful to me! :)

One place that really inspires me is the South Park area in Colorado. Never mind the TV show by that name, the area is beautiful. Coming from the east, it always amazes me how the valley spreads out below the mountains. It is surrounded by mountains, a wide sweeping valley with lots of open range. In the winter, the snow is deep, very windblown. The sky is so blue, it hurts your eyes, especially with the sun reflecting off the snow. In the fall, the aspen glow from the surrounding mountains. In the summer, the air is fresh, lots of sunny days and cool evenings. It’s not really a tourist destination, which only adds to its attraction for me.

I haven’t done a lot of traveling in my life, but the most beautiful place that I have ever visited is Malibu, the Young Life Camp on the Princess Louisa Inlet in Britsh Columbia. The water, the mountains, the trees… everything was absolutely beautiful. It’s been 40 years since I was there, but I would like to revisit that area again sometime.

In the past few years my hubby and I haven’t been able to travel due to the economy and it’s effects on us personally. However, we were blessed to have travelled a bit prior to that and have so many wonderful memories. The best part of travelling, or for that matter day-to-day life, is being with the love of my life of 40+ years.

The wonderment of seeing the star studded sky while driving at night through Montana where there are no city lights to “cloud” the view. Or another memory would be watching the waves come crashing in while sitting on the beach in Cancun. I was mesmerized by the sound vastness of the ocean and could have stayed there indefinitely.

Sorry for the lengthiness of this post, but you brought back many beautiful memories for me. Thanks for your inspiration every day with your projects, you are truly a gifted artist!

I’ve been fortunate to be able to travel to Europe two times because of my husband’s work and my son being stationed there. There are so many breathtaking places in France, Belgium, Germany, Austria etc. My tops would have to be the Palace of Versailles and the Louve. Hope I spelled those right–didn’t take time to check. I could have stayed all day just admiring all the beautiful works of art.

Thanks for offering more candy. Looks like some wonderful things in that grouping.

The San Juan Islands off the coast of Washington is my dreamy place. It wasn’t too comfy (sleeping on the ground at my age!!), but so worth it. Picture a four day kayaking-around-the-islands camping trip. I have been so fortunate to have taken this fabulous guided trip twice.
Gorgeous scenery, a bit of a challenge, and the peaceful, soothing activity of paddling your kayak………….can’t be beat!

I’ve lived in a lot of different places in the US, and have visited a number of places that went beyond my dreams, but I must say, I think it was more a matter of being in the place totally at the time that made it memorable.

I recall a rain forest park in Wahiawa Hawaii that we used to frequent regularly. Such an incredible feeling to be among the huge ferns, the birds over head, and the tiny animals and plant life all around.. a truly magical place.

The northern peninsula of Michigan, one summer at my step mother’s property there, laying on the river bank looking straight up at the canopy overhead, hearing all the forest sounds around me, made that location one I remember fondly….

So many places really, but always it’s the focus on the moment that make treasures.

good question and thanks for asking it!

I love to go to Ireland! Both of my parents are from Ireland – my dad was from County Kerry & my mom is from County Mayo. It is such a beautiful country. But the best thing about Ireland is the friendliness and hospitality of the people – I have never experienced it (at that level) anywhere else in the world.

I have been blessed to be able to travel quite a bit. That is what my husband and I love doing together – over designer cloths, going out to movies or eat etc. We save our money to travel. We just got back from an amazing Safari in Kenya! We went to see the animals – which did not fail to give a great show, but the people…… OMGoodness the people! We were invited into a Maasai home which is built out of cow dung, sticks and urine (no water to mix with the dung to make a plaster type cement). I could go on and on, but God has truly blessed us when he gave me to parents who live in the USA and are christian! Thanks for such an inspiring uplifting blog and the chance at the candy.

I was blessed with going to Hawaii when I graduated from high school, I am the only grandchild on one side and that was my gift. Some place dreamy………..I too have been a care giver for the last 8 years so have kept close to home. One thing my husband and I do on beautiful Sat. mornings is hook up our atv’s and travel out to the high desert here in Southern California and ride.

It’s amazing what you can see when you get off the freeways and highways and go back into the hills and mountains and see what has been untouched by man. Breath taking vistas, weather worn gorges,
craggy mountains, a small plant growing in the middle of nowhere.

God always amazes me with what His hand hath wrought!!

Best wishes to you Becca, I know care giving can be hard, lonely, and weary but God blesses and the time you spend with your loved one provides memories you will always cherish.

Hi Becca, Well I hope to win this time, so please enter me. And my favorite trip? It is when my kids or anyone goes with me on a “craft run” or just a day out, and we eat our way out of someplace! LOL. We start of driving, and sometimes even change our path on the way, depending on our moods. But when we travle the roads of the Napa Wine County, we stop at a little favorite bakery here, and then there is the Cheese factory tha gives great sample of cheese and salami or pepperoni. Then up the road is a little gift shop and they have samples of Ice Cream toppings! LOL. And little spoonful is just a great little sweet taste! And then on to the Castle! It is a winery with wine tasting (we don’t drink or taste) but the view and scenery is to die for. And the have tastings of mustards and olive oil, and a beautiful picnic area. And then on up the road is a wonderful Italian resuraunt with great pizza! ( and I get mine with anchovies) and this little town has the best retro candy store! And if you aren’t full by now, well we can stop and eat some where! Lol.

HI Becca,
This is an interesting one. Well I got married at 18 and my husband was in the army so, off I went to Germany. It was so different! And me never being away from home it was scary too. I was there almost 2 years and then came home to have my son. At that time army hospitals seemed scary too. Since then I have been to some beautiful states. Tenn. was beautiful! Missouri was so layed back and made you look at times gone by which I loved. But I guess the most lovely was Hawaii. My husband and I went there a couple years ago for our 40th anniversary. It was so beautiful and peaceful! The food was wonderful!
But actually the most wonderful place to me is Ohio where I am with my family. My mother is 90 and lives with me. My husband and 3 children, and 11 grandchildren, now thats perfect!

This past December I went on a cruise and one of the places we visited was Guatemala. We had prearranged a private tour of the countryside, including visits with the people living far from the cities and commercial areas. Because those areas had no roads, we travelled by boat. Peace, quiet, and absolute beauty. A place to dream about when everything is “rushing” here. The area of Guatemala that we visited would be perfect for retirement – EXCEPT, there was no electric, phone, Internet, cars, grocery stores, scrapbooking stores, UPS, FedEx, etc.. Mail arrived once a month, if you were lucky. I would truely miss my computer, Internet, and shopping! But one can still dream…

Hey Becca:

Thanks for the next opportunity to win Blog candy. I have the most fortunate opportunity to live 6 months in two very different states. Pennsylvania (Lancaster County) in springtime is the most beautiful season. The Amish farms are so picturesque. As they plow their fields with horse drawn plows they turn the earth from spring green to a deep dark and rich brown soil. The patterns are so amazing to see. It is the most quite and serene time to watch as they do their daily chores and prepare to grow the wonderful fresh produce that we have the opportunity to purchase well into the Fall. My wish is for you all to have this experience. Tomorrow my next favorite place.

After months of doing repairs to our home caused by a tornado in 1986 my husband & I decided to take a well deserved trip and selected Tahiti.
We booked a 7 day cruise that visited a different island each day. After the cruise we had 5 additional days staying in a hotel on the island of Tahiti. The island of Moorea was the most beautiful and being able to sit in an open air restaurant built over the water was unbelievably beautiful. We were able to see octopus and various colors of fish swimming around below us and fighting for the crumbs we would drop in the water. The water was the clearest I had ever encountered and it seemed you could see forever into the depths. I would love to do this trip again but the cruise line we were on no longer exists. I don’t know if we could repeat the thrills we encountered on another cruise line.

Oke, some place dreamy. I love the mountains. I live in the Netherlands and we don’t have mountains. So when I go on a vacation I almost always go to a country with mountains. France for instance is very beautiful. I love the rough mountains and nature. We were on a vacation in France and drove a while. We ended up at mountains. When we looked down we saw a river floating. It was magnificent! Two mountains very close together and in between a river. The nature is sometimes breathtaking. The mountains are everywhere different and that make it intresting. In Austria the mountains I saw where rougher than in France. There where almost no trees and no green. The nature is great!

For me, one dream place that I’ve been is Ireland. What a beautiful country and beautiful people. We stayed in bread & breakfast inns and met soooo many wonderful people! The scenery was magnificent. My husband and I set out in our little rental car and drove to wherever we decided we wanted to go. We stopped where we wanted, saw what we wanted and stayed where we “landed” by evening. I have to admit that I”m not a traveler. My husband and I would take the kids to Disney or HersheyPark once in a while. Money was tight before I started working. We don’t have any aspirations of moving to any place fantastic when retirement comes…next year! We’ve had alot of snow for Long Island this year and I have to say that looking in my backyard after a snowfall was truly breathtaking. It looked like a Christmas card. I have never been to any place far away that has that dreamy feeling, and I am not sure if this counts. But when funds are low and bills needing to be paid first, trips are always last on our list. We don’t splurge on going out for fine dining but 2 birthdays ago, my hubby took me to one of the most poshes resturant here in the city. It was a flour factory that was transformed into a resturant. With four loft like floors and open concept, it was stunning. It was all lit with candles and white mini lights and soft jazz music playing. It was beautiful and so romantic. Tandi’s is just a resturant but to me and my hubby it was so magically and romantic. With a gift and flowers to add to the moment it made it even more romantic and dreamy. With the snow falling and everything looking like a winter wonderland it was has if we were walking in Narnia! Trees loaded with snow and soft flakes falling to the ground. It was a night to remember for always.

Hi Becca – i’m a regular visitor to your blog – that’s breathtaking enough – with all of the stunning creations.

I live in Derbyshire, England on the edge of whats called the Peak District. Now, I’ve been a fair few places although never to the US. Recently (a couple of years ago – I visited Wales for the first time – and I fell in love with a place (county) called Pembrokeshire. When the weather is warm and sunny, its breathtaking scenery and we’ve been back up to five times a year since. It takes 6 hours drive to get there from here and we go camping with our all singing and dancing tent!!

The very first visit there we took my Dad who had just finished radiotherapy and chemotherapy for lung and throat cancer, that was end of May 2008. It was the first time since I was a child that I’d been on holiday with him (my mum didn’t come as she’s not in to camping). Anyway, my dad passed away less than 3 months later and it was difficult to go back but we did and made some great friends who had a tourer based on the site where we stayed.

We’ve been back several times since taking my Dad and just outside the tent (we pitched in exactly the same spot), a little robin redbreast came outside the tent each and everytime we’ve been. I’ve always believed that it was my Dad, coming back on holiday with us. It made me feel very content and happy to think that it was him!!!

Palma, Mallorca also is very special – especially the cathedral which my Dad and I attempted to visit but had literally closed 5 mins before we got there. He never did get to revisit because of his cancer, but a few months after he died, I went back and got into the cathedral and cried my eyes out. I’d achieved it for him as well as me and bought a silver charm – the Palma Cross for me and my Mum which was to mark the ocassion.

I’m so glad I get 5 days to list the most “breathtaking sites I’ve seen”. I’m absolutely awed by God’s creations and could spend the rest of my life traveling to see them. First place I’m listing is Niagara Falls. My husband and I went there for a “second honeymoon”after we’d been married 7 years. We did some of the touristry things but the most awe inspiring was just sitting on a patio at night with the spray from the falls misting over us. No words needed to be said and we just held hands and reveled in the moment.

Dear Becca,

Several years ago my husband won a trip to Maui, when we got married he was in the US Air Force and we did not get a honeymoon so the trip was to be our over due honeymoon. We spent 5 beautiful days seeing all of the beautiful landscape and the water was so blue, my husband thought I was crazy when I began taking photos of all of the tropical floral and greenery but I had a plan. I took those beautiful photos and punched flowers out of the floral photos and made some beautiful embellishments from my photos. We took the road to Hana and walked to see the Sister Waterfalls, we walked along the beach, even sat on the beach watching the whales jumping, I can truly say I thought I was in paradise and I didn’t want it to end.

We went the year after my Mother passed away and while we were driving around the island of Kauai, we rounded the corner to see one of the most beautiful double rainbows I have ever seen in my life. As we continued to drive it just got larger and larger. We both commented on the fact that my Mother must have put it there for us to remember her by. That was the most wonderful vacation I have ever experienced.

Alaska! To me it is the most beautiful place on earth. I lived there for 3 months a long time ago and really didn’t appreciate it’s beauty until I went back on a cruise in 2001 — to me Alaska is like no other place on earth.

Hi Becca, we are raising 3 of our grandchildren so travel for us is a dream. We did take the kids and one extra to Kelowna BC (in Canada) last summer and visited our best friends. They were so gracious to have 6 of us at their house but Elaine and I had the best time ever, staying up until 2 or 3 laughing and remembering all the fun we have had. The hubbys would let us sleep in and we would do it all over again the next evening. It was not a dreamy vacation but the best one I have had in years.
Thanks for your wonderful website. I try to visit every day for inspiration and ideas. Love your bows and have used the tutorial to show me how to tie them.

Well, I love to travel and while compared to many I guess I’ve traveled a lot, I have definitely not gotten to travel to all the places I’ve dreamed of visiting. As a U.S. citizen, I do think this country has so many beautiful places that can hold their own against the rest of the world, but when it comes to travel, most of us probably long for what we think will be more exotic places in other countries… so I’ll start with one of those. As a kid growing up, I never imagined that I’d have the opportunity to travel anywhere outside North America, but to my surprise an opportunity came to travel to Greece and Italy. So, for my first breathtaking place on day one, I’d have to say Greece. Seeing the Parthenon was amazing… I love history and of course, I’d read about it as a kid and never in a million years ever thought I’d be standing right there… that was breathtaking as well as the beauty of the islands… the color of the sea… the whole time I was there I felt like it was a dream… I couldn’t believe I was really there! LOL!! But, at least I have the pictures to prove it!

Thanks for the chance to win. I visit your blog each time I get an e-mail announcing a new post. I LOVE your work!

Ooo, another Blog Candy. I’ve got to say that Hawaii is the most beautiful, colorful, relaxing place I’ve ever been to. The lush green mountains, crystal blue water, and white caps, not to mention the music and slow-pace of lifestyle. I want to go back!

This is an easy one for me… My husband served in Germany for awhile on a two year mission for our church. After twenty years, he took me back and we spent 3 weeks touring Europe. We went to many small towns, but I absolutely fell in love with St. Moritz, Switzerland! In the center of town lies a small lake surrounded by a walking path, about 2 miles long. Small sailboats are out on the water daily. The beautiful Swiss Alps all around are gorgeous! I would also like to return to Austria for it’s beauty… God created this beautiful earth and we can thank Him daily by remembering Him and appreciating His creation and do our best to take good care of it and each other.

Years ago, my mom and I went to the Cook Islands. Wow, the water is so blue and the sand so white. The people are so warm and friendly and the land is so fresh. We stayed for 3 weeks and snorkled, swam, walked, toured through fruit plantations, and saw the town and people at their best. It was still very quiet there in terms of tourism and so peaceful. Loved it.

Well, this topic I can dish on…

It’s not the Dr. Seuss book “Oh the Places You’ll Go”, but my own personal story “Oh the Places I’ve Been”! I would certainly need more than the 5 days though, so I’ll try to pick some of the best. I have been SO fortunate with the opportunities that I have had and they make for very special memories.

I’ll start with Machu Picchu in Peru. It’s a very magical place. It’s such a weird feeling to look now at pictures and say “I was there!”

Our daughter was on a semester abroad last year for two months in Argentina and two months in Peru. She wrote about her amazing adventures in her blog. If you would like a good read sometime, her blog is coligoesabroad.blogspot.com.

Anyhow, her host mom said she had an extra room and we could come and stay with her. This was last May, we hadn’t seen our daughter since Christmas break and we wouldn’t be seeing her until our family reunion in July. (She was planning on staying longer to do some traveling on her own and then she also did a 4 week Volunteers for Peace Program).

So, we decided we would fly down to see her (we got some AMAZING deals on airfare) and then I would get to be with her on Mother’s Day. You know what the say about the best laid plans…

Our flight got delayed for 24 hours due to fog in Lima. Our daughter’s group trip to the Amazon got canceled for that weekend and pushed to the next weekend that we were supposed to spend together (Mother’s Day!) and our daughter got selected as a Pickering finalist and was flown to Washington, D.C. during the week that we were there!!! So, we only ended up getting to see her for about a day and a half.

My husband and I then headed off to Cuzco. Again, our flight was delayed for hours due to fog. We finally made it to Cuzco. The effects from the high altitude was noticeable.

When we got to the town near Macu Picchu, we bought our entrance tickets just before they closed (10 pm) and then we were on line for the buses the next morning at 5 am. We were about the 3 or 4th bus to go up the hairpin turns. Once we were there, we rushed over to the area to get the tickets for Wayna Picchu. They only allow 400 people a day to go up there. Wayna Picchu was the big pointy mountain in the background behind the typical view of Machu Picchu. That was a very memorable climb. The route was steep and narrow and the high altitiude made a noticeable difference. The views were AMAZING when we got to the top. The climb down was much easier, although the whole experience was very exhausting.

Once we climbed down, we toured Machu Picchu. What a fascinating experience!

Other AMAZING things that we did while we were in Peru included: flying over the famous Nazca Lines in a small airplane, racing in a dune buggy in huge sand dunes and then sand boarding down those dunes, taking a boat to Islas Ballestas (a unique marine preserve where we saw all kinds of birds, sea lions, penguins, walruses, etc.) and touring many Incan sites and museums.

Oh my…although I love the scenery and beauty of the USA, one of my favorite and most amazing places to visit is NEW ZEALAND! I was priviledged to be a part of the Friendship Force Teacher Exchange and literally cried when I had to come home. We toured many local schools, sheep farms, big cities, small towns and cultural heritage of the northern island while staying with a local family. Then we flew to the southern island and over the Southern Alps! It’s like a precious dream now…so many beautiful places and the people are awesome!

Becca,
I am thrilled to see all the responses. We all love you so much. I went to Colorado when I was 21 and just married. We visited the town of Aspen. I remember standing in the middle of the town looking all around me at the mountains and blue sky . Thinking what a miraculous place this is. This small town nestled among these Mountains with the sun shinning and the warmth of its rays upon my face . I could see Gods hand in all this beauty and was so thankful for this awe inspiring sight. That was 34 years ago but I can still see the view as if I was still standing there today. Thanks for the memory.

I haven’t seen the whole thing but what I did see was so breathtaking and hope to get back again some day.

Without a doubt, it was black sand beach on the island of Maui. sunbathing, snorkeling. What made it great was floating on the surface of the water watching the colorful fish swim by, feeding them peas, the warm water and the sun shining on my back. Like being on the surface of a fish tank, but it was all natural and outdoors. That was great. Ok, that’s just one wonderful experience in Maui. I’ll save up for another day.

To me it is both the place and the memories you have there that make it dreamy. My dreamy spot has oodles of both, beauty and great memories. Last March I was married on the side of a mountain overlooking Emerald Bay in South Lake Tahoe, California. Both the scenery and the memories are spectacular. It was so beautiful I had a photo processor refuse to print my photos without a copyright release because they had to be professional because of they way they were photo shopped!! Very funny, no photo shopping, just spectacular scenery!!

Here is to visiting many dreamy places in the future and making great memories!!

Have I ever been someplace dreamy? Yes, I have. I can remember as a child visiting Hawaii with my family. I will never forget that it rained everyday about 5:00 p.m. But the thing that stands out in my mind is that as the droplets touched my cheeks, it was warm. That made such an impression on me.

However, having said that, I would like to add that sometimes the dreamiest places are right in your own backyard. My husband and I live a couple of blocks from a lake. We like to take the boat out as soon as the weather warms up. In the summertime, I like to swim while he fishes.

The dreamiest, most reflective and calming experience is floating on my back, gazing up at the sky and marveling at how small I actually am in this huge world of ours; yet, somehow it makes me feel one with God and all of my surroundings. Very therapeutic.

Your work is so beautiful and as I recover from pneumonia, it makes me happy to visit your blog and gain so much inspiration from your artwork. Thank you for sharing and thank you for an opportunity to win.

Wow! Trying to choose one place that took my breathe away is a tough choice. I’ve been blessed to have been to a few beautiful places on this earth. Many years ago my husband and I were gifted with a two week trip to Ireland, Scotland and England. I was in awe of most everything we saw. I called it our 3 Cs tour: Cathedrals, Castles and Colleges and they were magnificent! One event on this tour that really stands out in memory was witnessing the performance of the Tattoo at Edinburgh Castle in Scotland. This is performed every year in August and is collection of performances by bagpipe bands, military, horsemen, dancers. They begin the performance at sunset, the huge gate comes down over the moat that surrounds the castle and the trumpets sound from the parapets of the castle as the lead military pipers march out of the castle and into the foreyard to begin the performance. I literally had chills go down my spine. This lovely city is one place my husband and I would dearly love to return to.

I’m fortunate enough to have grown up in Northern Ireland (although back in the 70s it wasn’t quite the “picture postcard” it has become more recently). I’m now living at the foot of the Rocky Mountains in Calgary, Canada and it is scenic beyond belief in its own way. My heart is still drawn to the sea ‘though. Hi Becca!
I have not traveled very much or gone to any truely exoticly beautiful places, but I think you have to find your “beauty” sometimes.
For many years in a row, when my children were small we went to the NJ shore every summer. It is so amazing at the shore. The ocean is so vast and beautiful. The sound of the waves rolling over the beach, and the sound of my children’s laughter as they run to and from the edge of the water as it rises on the shore-line. I miss those days!

Hi Becca, I was born in South Africa – a place of many beautiful sights -both of the peoples and of the various landscapes – however, one of the many places I have lived or traveled to – is Brazil and one of the wonderous moments was atop the Corcavado in Rio – the statue of Christ, with his arms held out as if to say “Come to me”(those who are poor and heavy laden). ‘I have made this beauty for you to see and be uplifted’ It is a most Beautiful view, looking down the scenery is magnificent. It really is a remarkable spot.
Now I am living in another glorious spot – in Sequim Washington. Its beautiful and I was happy to retire here (with my stamping addiction!)

When my kids were growing up, we tried to make the most of our vacations by including fun places for them as well. One of the B & B’s we stayed at was in a tree house. Yes, it was a real B & B in a real tree! There were 2 little “houses” connected by a swinging rope bridge, so they kids stayed in one and my husband & I stayed in the other, complete with soft down comforters on a real bed! It was so much fun to be up in the trees, feeling like kids ourselves. There was a giant rope swing in another tree, a secluded swimming hole and lots of trails to explore. We felt like the Swiss Family Robinsons! It was amazing to just let go and have fun. More tree houses have been added since we were there, some now even have bathrooms. I would like to go back and sleep/dream in the trees again! My daughter just got married and wants to take her husband there!

A Dreamy place…How about Wells Gray Provincial Park in Canada…it is one waterfall after another..and all those wildflowers…everywhere. So beautiful and so uncrowded. Or how about The Waialeale Crater on Kauai Island…the wettest place on earth…we wore rain gear and just enjoyed our hike through the mistiness…very dreamy and really amazing. And also very uncrowded except for the amazing birds. But if we want to discuss luxury…haven’t been able to afford it yet..but a yacht in the Mediterranean would be my dream.

Wow, Becca, that’s a tough question to answer. I have been to many places on holiday, and I must say each and every one has something unique and beautiful about it. France was outstanding, and Paris was marvelous and bustling. Barbados had such natural beauty, from the caves to the peak of the island, it was all gorgeous, and the people were just as beautiful. Then there is the desert of Arizona, the lushness of Seattle and Washington, the coast and hills of California, and the stark beauty of Nevada. Everywhere I have been I have been amazed by God’s creations. However, I think that the most beautiful place I have seen is Hawaii. My husband and I went there in 2008 for our 35th anniversary. We spent three days on Waikiki Beach, and then flew to Maui. I think beauty and majesty were born there, in the volcanoes and the mist, and every turn in the road can take your breath away. I hope to go back there sometime, because I think I left a little piece of my heart there, and I’d like to revisit my happiness.

I’ve not been many places , but one of our most enjoyable vacations was to the Outer Banks !

The kids were small , about 4 and 2, we spent a week in late September, past prime season , so we had most of the island to ourselves. We were in hurries, no worries mode. We spent each day driving up and down the coast, walking the beaches. Visited every single light house. Dh and DD were able to climb the Hatteras lighthouse.

Hands down the best time, because we had no agendas ! Rented a whole house and just did things at our leisure !

We even took the ferry over to Ocracoke island and enjoyed a day there and visited that lighthouse!

Such wonderful memories of our time there!

Wow, what a hard question to answer. My husband and I have traveled to all 50 states and each and every one has something of beauty. Of all the sites we have visited, one keeps fresh in my mind. We visit as many of the national parks as we can and the one that stands out the most to me is Crater National Park in Oregon. We were there in May so not all the roads were plowed yet ( I guest they finish in July) and the water was like blue glass. It was the most beautiful lake I’ve think I’ve seen. There are many others too, like, Niagara Falls, Bryce Canyon, Tetons, Hawaii, Alaska, the Smokies and of course, Yellowstone and Glacier. If you’ve never been to Crater Lake I would encourage anyone to see it. Its amazing how beautiful the top of an old volcano can be.

Hi Becca!
I love to travel, and even though I haven’t done it in a while, one of my favorite places is puerto varas in Chile. It is absolutely beautiful with lots of little villages and a lot of German Influences.
I have so many beautiful pictures from there that every time I look at them I want to go right away :)

Hope you have a great day.
God bless
Giovana

Any time I go to the beach, I am just in awe of God’s creation…there’s really nothing quite like the Oregon coast. I only live an hour away, but tend to visit just a few times a year. I could sit on the beach for hours and just drink it all in.

I’ve been fortunate enough to visit the Orkney Islands off the northern coast of Scotland. There a traffic jam is 7 cars at the supermarket.
Indeed they have a slower kinder pace of life.
Thanks for the opportunity.

There are so many beautiful places, it’s hard to pick one based on beauty. So, the most amazing experience for me was visiting Kilauea, the active volcano in Hawaii. We hiked out to the flowing lava at dusk….it was breathtaking to watch the lava as it poured into the ocean. How often do we actually get to experience an active volcano!?

The most beautiful place I’ve ever been is the Big Island of Hawaii. We stayed at Wikaloa and the beach was the most fantastic thing I’ve ever seen. White sand, blue clear ocean, lots of palm trees. And then the color from the sunset was breathtaking.

I haven’t travelled to a lot of places in my life, but I moved 5 years ago to British Columbia, Canada. I live on beautiful Vancouver Island. As I drive to work I have the mountains on the left and the Pacific Ocean on the right. It is beautiful. I love to walk along the Inner Harbour.

We were stationed and absolutely loved living in The Netherlands for 6 1/2 years. We were blessed to be able to travel Europe when family came to visit. My first pick would be The Netherlands – I loved the people, the beauty of the land, the food and one day hope to go back to visit. It is so much like the Willamette Valley here in Oregon where we live – the flowers, plants, etc….. The Netherlands is a melting pot of different nationalities and we had a wonderful opportunity to experience different foods. We miss the slower pace of life there. On Sundays, stores are closed and are family days, whether the people go to church or not, most would have family dinners and then you would see them – suit and tie, and the whole family’s taking walks around the village and enjoying each other and life. I loved the canals, all the beautiful flowers and the fishing villages. There was just so much to see and experience.

Thanks for the chance to win cool stuff!

My “dream place” is still there…in my “dreams.” But, I have been blessed to see many beautiful places when I lived in Oregon. One of place was the coast. Standing there and viewing the handiwork of God in the birds, the magnitude of the ocean, the smells, the sights, the sounds…all if it so beautiful but even more so when seen with the knowledge that God made all of it for us to enjoy on our life’s journey.

One of the most interesting places I found was New Zealand, and it was just beautiful, too. We visited a sheep farm where the trees and pine cones were off the chart, huge!

I just came home from Destin, Florida, which has a beautiful white sandy beach, blue sky and water. Very nice place if you can’t go to the Carribean or Mexico, which are beautiful, too.

Thanks Becca for your generous opportunity.

I love to travel and have been blessed to be able to visit quite a number of wonderful places. One beautiful spot was Jeita, Lebanon. There is this amazingly HUGE cave – it goes on for miles and miles. The stalactities and stalagmites are phenomenal and they have added colored lights & a walkway through the first 1/2 mile. When you stand on the walk way and look down – the bottom is filled with Mediterranean blue/green seawater – and it is more than a 1/2 mile below where you stand. If you look up from the walkway, the ceiling is about 1/4 mile above you. It’s truly amazing!

While my husband was in Iraq for 2 years I held down the home front, taking care of the animals and bi-weekly visits to his elderly parents to make sure they were well and needed for nothing. To say “thank you”, my husband met me in Rome, Italy for the start of a week long cruise on the Med. My favorite place was The Vatican and St. Peter’s Basilica. To stand in the Sistine Chapel and see the wonderful art work of Michelanglo was incredible. Even if you aren’t Catholic, the reverence and beauty of that magnificant Holy Place takes your breath away. Standing in front of Michelangelo’s PIETA (Mary holding Christ) ran chills up my spine. I came out of there with such a serene feeling and a thankfulness to God that I was lucky enough to experience such an amazing place. My hope is that I can return one day….once was definitely NOT enough.

One of the most interesting places I’ve ever been was to Williamsburg, Virginia. I’ve been three times and would love to go at Christmas some year. Seeing and smelling the beautiful gardens and flower arrangements, walking the streets that our forefathers walked and soaking up the atmosphere of such an historic place gets my juices flowing. Thanks for the chance for more great blog candy!!

Wow, only 5 days, 5 places? where do I begin? Starting with the most recent best memory, it would have to be Sirmione, Italy. My husband and I went to Germany for a wedding last April and spent almost a month touring around Germany and Italy. A friend suggested we go to Sirmione, which we did, driving in our friends car–with GPS of course! Our best pictures from the entire vacation were taken there. The lake, the ruins, the cobblestone roads, the shops, the olive trees, the castle, the mountains in the distance… it was all so breathtaking. The weather was perfect. We walked around the many shops and cafe’s. It was more than beautiful! It was our first stop in Italy before we drove to Venice… tomorrow I will tell you about the romantic city of Venice, Italy–molto romantico!, bella parole al di la!!! to be continued… :)

I’ve only been on one “dream” trip and it was an Exodus Tour of Egypt, Jordan and Israel two years ago. I must say that the most breathtaking place I have been/seen, and the picture that I will forever cherish, was of the Garden Tomb in Jerusalem. I would go again in a heartbeat if I could afford it and linger there until they kick me out! I love your work, Becca, and your art/creativity are indeed a gift from God.

Hey Becca – this has been kinda fun!
I guess for me it has to be Cadgwith, Cornwall, UK. It was the first vacation me & hubby took without the kids in 12 years. On the way down the car broke and we ended up being taken in by a wonderful couple overnight who helped us get the car to the garage next day. We spent over half our money getting the car repaired and nearly turned back and went home. Soooo glad we didn’t!

The trip was way worth it, the views of this little fishing village were amazing – everywhere you looked. Our rented pink thatched cottage with dutch door was so picturesque (we found a postcard featuring it as a momento) and the view from the cliftop out to sea was spectacular. Would love to go back someday.

Wow, you must be the most popular blog! Truly your crafts are amazing. I haven’t traveled outside of the United States and Hawaii, but I think our country offers some of the most beautiful landscapes. One of the places I love and have loved all my life is Yosemite National Park. I grew up in its shadows in Merced, California. I have seen the bears being fed; the firefalls at dusk from the waterfalls; I have walked the paths that are no longer there. I have camped in its beauty and awakened to the sounds only a forest and wilderness can make. The view from Tuolomme Meadows is to die for, in fact when one is in its presence–it truly feels like Heaven on Earth. God must have been in a wondrous mood when he created Yosemite.

I too am a caregiver for my failing mother. I moved into her home 3 years ago. It is such a tough job and I don’t get much free time. Although there are so many breathtaking places to visit, my favorites are found in Israel. I came away with such an appreciation of the work done by builders so many 1000′s of years ago. I especially loved being the old cities that were built over and over again and have several layers to them. The old city of Jerusalem is just spectacular. In addition I believe that I walked on the same roads as Jesus Christ–you can’t get better than that.

I believe that it is the person your with that makes the destination fabulous and memorable. For me, it was when I finally visited Paris, France and did it with my daughter. She was wonderful in planning the whole trip. Then to visit the same daughter, now married in her current home town of Las Vegas, NV with my husband and doing touristy stuff there was fun and enjoyable. Then helping our son and wife move to Austin, TX was great.

Hey Becca,
At the top of my list of places I have visited, a place that was such a blessing, is the Garden Tomb in Jerusalem Israel. To be there at what I believe is the place where my Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ was burried and where he rose from the dead that I might have eternal life was a dream come true. There is a beautiful garden there and and the Minister who put our tour group together asked me to lead the group in the song “Blessed Redeemer”. What a thrill it was to be able to go there.

My grandparents came to Canada from Wales a century ago. A few years ago, my sister, my elderly mother and I took a trip to see the land of our forebears. Wales is amazingly beautiful, in a dreamy, pastoral, old-country way. I will return!
