Goodbye Dear Old Friend

Hi there blog friends!!  First of all thanks for your feedback on the event I want to put together.  I think some one has already coined it the No Challenge Challenge (ha -ha).  I’m working on some inspiration for this to see if I can make it fly and you all have given me some great ideas.

Not sure where the day went, but I spent mine putting an old dying computer to bed.  I’ve been working on an ailing laptop for months now and couldn’t find the time to transfer things.  I guess we never realize how much stuff we collect on our computers and how we just can’t do without them.  I’m almost done with getting the email all transferred over and have to find a couple of CD’s but just to give you an idea – the desktop I’m moving from I purchased in 2003 and the laptop (whose screen died) I got in 2006.  It’s a little bit like letting go of your blankey – I know where everything is and this means I’ll have to say goodbye forever to Windows XP.   I don’t think I’ve been more frugal with anything in my life.  I have fixed and fixed until they can’t be fixed any more.  On the bright side – no more waiting 5 minutes for each picture to come up so that I could edit it in Photoshop.   That’s just a little window into my day – hope yours was fabulous.

. . . . about the Blog Candy
I did take time to package up the winnings for the last blog candy winners so that it can fly out of here on Monday.  So, it only seemed right to keep on with the the quest to share out this paper to someone who can and will use it!  I’m giving away another set of both Prima Romantique and Prima Printery.  Leave a comment letting me know what made it to the top of your new CHA releases list (no links please).  Was it the new Spellbinders?  Which one?  The comments open today and will close some time on Thursday , February 9th – that gives you up to six times enable someone (mischievous grin).

Thanks for stopping by today!  Ill be back tomorrow, I’m sure.  Crafty smooches!!

    Hi Becca,
Sounds like you have been a very busy girl today, I hope you get it sorted to your satisfaction asap. I have been sorting my bead boxes today which I thought would only be an couple of hours and it took all evening. You are right when you say, where did the day go?
If I had to choose top spots for products I really want from the new CHA releases it would have to be 5 things sorry:- Spellbinders Moroccan & Persian Motifs/Accents and Tim Holtz Distress Ink Markers. I must be honest with you though Becca, I seem to fall in love with something new everytime I look at the new releases.
Well have a good day today, whatever you are up to. I’m off to bed now as its 2am. Nite Nite. Hugs LindaReplyCancel

  • Lovely LindaFebruary 3, 2012 - 8:15 pm

Hi Becca – computers UGH – but we are lost without them! I think my favourite of the CHA new releases would have to be the Spellbinders Dies – I would be hard pressed to choose between the Persian Dies and the Ribbin Buckles – they are all divine!! Thank you for yet another opportunity to win some gorgeous goodies!! God bless you! {{{hugs}}}ReplyCancel

  • Linda MilroyFebruary 3, 2012 - 8:15 pm

I totally love the new Spellbinders, I want the all but probably the first one I get is the Floral Ovals then the Ribbon Buckles, They are to die for and I am torn between them. Thanks so much for your inspiration, your creations are so very beautiful and they make me want to be more creative. Blessing, LindaReplyCancel

My XP died a while ago, and I SO miss it! Win7 is too techy for me, and none of my XP software is compatible….sigh. Good luck with the change!
I saw a cool little tool that cuts thin strips of paper with ease, and I’d love to have a closer look, as I love to make herringbone backgrounds with strips of paper! I’m also intrigued with the distress markers as well as the Spellbinders that fold over themselves! So many cool items, such a small wallet! LOLReplyCancel

  • Katherine LawsonFebruary 3, 2012 - 8:16 pm

I know the feeling about the old computer. Everything is right where you need it, and it’s so familiar, but oh so slow. I still miss Windows XP.

What was our favorite new release? That’s a hard one! There were so many. Was it some of the new Just Rite stamps?

Or would I decide to say it’s between the Moroccan, Persian and Damask Motifs and Accents from Spellbinders???? I think I’ll choose the Spellbinders, but I could never decide which one of the three sets. I NEED them all!

I guess I chose the Spellbinders because they are so versatile. I’ve got a lot of stamps, (and a lot of Spellbinders), but there is something about those lacy dies that I love!ReplyCancel

  • ColleenB.February 3, 2012 - 8:17 pm

Thank you for offering this giveaway opportunity again.
I would have to say the Spellbinders; but as for a favorite, I gotta say all of them cause I’m just starting out using the Spellbinders and only have 2 so they are All favorites

    Hi Becca,
I recently had to up date my computers…both of them, so I totally understand what you are going through. I did loose most of my stuff on the desk top as it seriously crashed and I wouldn’t pay to have info transferred But you know what, I lived without it. I have not taken to making hard copies of important stuff, and so I seem to be copying things all the time. I am enchanted with the new Spellbinder dies. Especially the Floral Burst. I love the look of folded back parts creating a two tone image. I have cut them in the past with an Xacto knife. Not fun, for sure. So I’m looking forward to that one, as well as some others.
Thanks for all you do for us.
    Candy MeyersReplyCancel

Hi Becca. You will love your new computer once you get used to it. It is amazing how fast the new computers are.

I have to say I thought the new Tim Holtz distress markers would be really, really nice. I saw a video of them being demonstrated and thought they were great. And of course, anything by Spellbinders (just wish they didn’t cost so much).

Thanks for the opportunity to win some gorgeous paper. I really like the Prima Romantique paper, anything with roses on it.ReplyCancel

  • Clare DempseyFebruary 3, 2012 - 8:23 pm

Sorry to hear about your computer, and know exactly how you feel, I lost mine to Hurricane power surcharge in September and I am still finding and remembering things I lost as I had not done a recent back up!!! I accumulated so much over the years, and the pictures I lost of my deceased Mom and brother in law, but lesson learned, I now have an external back up and am also going to get an UN interrupted power supply soon, so I have time or the computer does to shut down in these situations.

Good luck with your new computer!! It will take time to get used to new OS, I am still figuring out windows 7, I Loved XP and was so used to it..

As far as the new releases go, I cannot wait for Spellbinders Antique Frame and Accents. I had seen the frame a little while ago on a project and finally it will be available to purchase.
I also am interested in the Inkadinkado Stamping Gear. I am intrigued with it’s potential.

You have my sympathy on transferring from one computer to another and having to change operating systems. Went thru that earlier in the year, and was totally out of commission for a few months. But it is nice to again be up and running. As for the CHA products that I just couldn’t live without. . . . . . . Spellbinders, Spellbinders, and more Spellbinders. Everything else has been sent to the back burner until next month. Tim Holtz has several new products that I want. Those are next along with the newest G 45 paper collections. How about you? What new stuff couldn’t you just live without? Please share.

Hi Becca, I’m glad you’re getting a new computer. If this new one last as long as your old one, look at all the enjoyment you’ll get out of it. It will really save you time too. More time to create your beautiful projects, yeah! There are so many new things to wish for in paper crafting, Its hard to decide what to want first. I can’t wait to get some of the new spellbinders. The Persian and Damask motifs and accents are on my wish list. Pretty much anything you’ve shown us, and used so beautifully, is what I want! You are a master of the die!! Thanks for the chance to win these lovely papers. Hugs and blessings! Patty W.ReplyCancel

Sorry about ypr blankey, I know what you mean, hope it all works out. To tell the truth I haven’t looked at any of the CHA releases except Spllebinders and then only because I had hoped to win some. Thanks for another chance to win.

I, like many before me, have to go with Spellbinders. I have a few I REALLY like – and when I say a few I actually mean a lot. The M-Bossibilities are currently out in front – Paisley design looks really good. I too had XP and was hoping it would last – then my computer got struck by lightening – so I had to get with the program – quite literally, and now I am starting to feel comfortable with it all again.ReplyCancel

  • Mary SchmidtFebruary 3, 2012 - 11:20 pm

Definitely, the spellbinders, and, some of the matching stamps are in my must haves. The nesties just seem so “naked” without the stamps. It takes them to the WOW factor! And, of course, the wallet says OW!
If only, I could be good enough to be a designer and, maybe, get some of the products sent to me. I won’t hold my breath on that, cause, I could never be in league with their amazing projects. Where is a rich sugar daddy when I need him? LOL!ReplyCancel

Hi Becca, I love anything Spellbinders and I am chomping at the bit for the new Tim Holtz Markers.
I wish I had a laptop, but I have a regular PC. I am not as proficient as I should be, but I think it’s “old age” creeping up on me. So glad you’re getting a new lap top.
You are so Creative. I got a late in life start on Stamping and all the rest, so I am a few years behind. You are just wonderful and I look forward to seeing your new creations each day.
    Thanks for your talent.

Becca, I’m also dealing with an aging computer and having a difficult time buying a new one because I’m so concerned everything won’t transfer. It’s like losing an old friend. However, the problems and programs are becoming more frequent which means it’s time to take that BIG STEP and buy a new one. My favorite CHA items are definitely anything Spellbinders especially the Moroccan and Persian accents. Gorgeous. Thanks for the chance to win the paper. I’ll try one more time. Enjoy your week-end.

DEFINITELY Spellbinders … I’ve pre-ordered the Crosses you showed on a sympathy card, I think it was. Beautiful, and I hope to get them in time for Easter cards.

THANK YOU for sharing your loot with us. I’d DEFINITELY use it (when I give up on loving it first).

    Fondly,
    Ellen

P.S. I’m in line for a Becca Peg Bow Maker too!ReplyCancel

  • Stephanie WFebruary 4, 2012 - 12:15 am

Definitely the spellbinders. I have several that are fighting for the privilege of “first purchase.” I’ve been trying to be on a no-craft buying trend to save for a bit but the new spellbinders may just be too much temptation. The new m’bossabilities (I think I have that name wrong) are currently at the top of the list.ReplyCancel

  • JoAnnFebruary 4, 2012 - 12:16 am

I love so much from CHA it is hard to choose. I do know I have to have the spellbinders that fold back on theirselve. I also like the Tim Holt’s markers. There is so much I want but I to am going through the change with a laptop. I’m going to buy mine tomorrow. I made mine last as long as I could.

Hi Becca, I must admit, it´s totally impossible to choose just one favorit from CHA, but I can choose the brand, and that´s definitely Speelbinders, but there´s also soo many gorgeous papers comming out, and I´m sooooooooooo loving all beautioful papers too he he. If I just could make myself to cut in them, but some of those I have got, I really don´t dare to cut, if I can´t find them again LOL. here where I live, we don´t have acces to much of all these wonders you have over there, and it´s so expensive to have it mailed here, so I only use these for really special projects.SIGH.
That´s also a reason, why I hope to be lucky enough to win some ofd these beauties some day LOL.
Have a great week-end hun and hopefully no more computerproblems, which is a real pain. I´ve just had mine reformatted too, because it kept on making troubles all the time. Funny they can really drive us nuts some times, but we can´t live without them either ha ha ha. Hope yours is solved now.ReplyCancel

Love the paper and the chance to win some of it! So many new items from the CHA event, what do you choose?? I did see some new markers that looked interesting, I always love the spellbinders items….I really should save up to get a few things! I have to budget my craft items very wisely so I usually only get something that I truly need and do not have already or a another way to do it. I have to be a thrifty crafter and I reuse and recycle lots of things, you would not belive some of the things that go into my craft projects, but I also feel it makes me more creative that way too! ~gin~ReplyCancel

Wow Becca now this is a challenge! There was so much to love from CHA this go round. Well, I think all of the spellbinders are fantastic, particularly the Moroccan and the Persian sets, the cut and fold dies and the tea set were just lovely. I also really am excited over the TH distress ink pens, how much fun could be had with those? Graphic 45’s new paper sets, Pink Paislee’s and Basic Grey’s also. The quilling tools, I’m really wanting to dip into that technique. Someone here mentioned ODB, I’ve never seen anything that they have released that I didn’t immediately fall in love with. There’s so much more that just isn’t coming to mind right now.

Good grief, Becca. it isn’t even 9:30 on a Saturday morning and already you have over 120 comments! Well, not to be outdone, I will tell you that I’ve been waiting for those new Spellbinders dies. I have a limited income, so I try to pick something that appeals to me on many levels and can be used in many ways. Last year it was Ironworks Motifs & Accents, this year it is Moroccan Motifs & Accents. I was shocked to find it already on the shelf at my local Michael’s last night! I bought the Accents with my 40% off coupon and plan to go back today to get the Motifs with another coupon. Next week I will be back because they also had the Ironworks Accents which I haven’t been able to find all year… where do these things go? All in all, my Spellbinder’s dreams are coming true and winning your “candy” would just be the cherry on top of the banana split! Sugar-free, of course!ReplyCancel

I’m so sorry for your loss of XP. It was one of the best operating systems MS ever released. I was so sad when I lost my last desktop to a rootkit virus and it couldn’t be saved.

I love the paper in the pictures you displayed this morning. I think I must have missed the day you posted them (either that or I’m terribly confused…wouldn’t be the first time). I’m getting over a horrible virus we’ve got going around here, and I was stuck in bed for a few days. (You snooze you lose? I was definitely snoozing….codeine cough syrup nearly puts me in a coma!)

Anyway, best of luck with your next computer. Having worked in IT for 10 years, I can tell you, there’s a lot of luck involved when it comes to computers.

  • Cindy ClevengerFebruary 4, 2012 - 12:01 pm

Hi Becca I would have to answer this in two parts….
The first would be the dream, drool extreme like and that would be the
the eclipse and TH Stamp to Cut combination but realistically it probably is only a “win the lottery” dream!
My real and can really get (over time) would be the Spellbinders dies and I love the ribbon buckles and Moroccan/Persian Motifs, sorry I cannot say just one thing…hugs and thank you for asking!ReplyCancel

  • Francie (Montreal)February 4, 2012 - 12:02 pm

It’s easy to pick my CHA favourite and I’ve already ordered it from ODBD. It’s your clever ribbon contraption! I can’t wait to get it and make bows that might resemble yours on a very primative level. LOL.

I work on an ancient PC with Windows XP and complete understand the waiting-for-screens-to-load problem. I know the day is coming when I’ll need to retire the old clunker. I keep putting it off because we’ve been through so much together.ReplyCancel

  • Nancy MashburnFebruary 4, 2012 - 12:58 pm

It is always spellbinders – all of them. I could go broke getting them all so try to limit them to newly “different.” If I have one similar I slap my hands and don’t order them. But I would have to say for this time it is the tuck and fold dies.ReplyCancel

  • BrendaFebruary 4, 2012 - 1:04 pm

Spellbinders…..no contest. Picking a favorite is just impossible. Love them all. I agree with the last comment about going broke buying them. I am at 211 and counting……I do love the new edgeabilities with the inserts. There are so many possibilities!!! And you just feed the passion….:) Your designs are always fantastic, imaginative, beautiful and inspiring!!!!!!ReplyCancel

I hate having to get a new computer. I have to assume that you managed to buy another one, knowing that yours were ‘on the blink’ & you didn’t lose any of your valuable data with the ‘violent death’ of your PC. That one ain’t nice! There was always the odd thing that never got backed up….. Well, I am in the UK, so will have to wait a while longer for the Spellbinder’s release here. I have my eye on several of them. LOL. I need deeper pockets….LOLReplyCancel

Yes, moving to a new computer can be quite traumatic. As for enabling…Becca, shame on you! HA…you are one of my worst (or best) enablers. Just when I think I don’t really need or want a certain die or stamp, you use it in such a gorgeous creative way that it zooms right back onto the list. Of course I’ll have to live till I’m a hundred AND win the lottery to ever get to the end of the list, but it’s there! This last Spellbinders release I like the Persian sets. I’d love to help you out with finding a loving home for some of your extra Prima papers.

Think like most others I’d have to say anything by Spellbinders – have only just gotten into these and really can’t get enough of them, but can’t afford to buy any :(, But also watched the vid with Tim Holtz and fallen in love with his new distress markers as the concept is new to me in every sense, so lots there to learn about for playing with :).

And finally any paper as I’m a paper addict LOL!

On computer things – I’m a geek with them, absolutely love everything PC orientated & LOVE, LOVE Win 7. Streets ahead of XP (which I still have as a backup), & provides me with a very stable and fast system, plus has plenty of tweaks, gadgets & other things like the ability to have a fluid dynamic desktop appeal to my childish side lol :). Enjoy!!ReplyCancel

I drooled over the die that you based today’s pink feminine Birthday card on…but my favorite was, of course, the largest one. It’s to big for the size card that I make most of the time! That was a problem with another of the die sets I liked. OWH prefers that most of their cards be A2 since that’s what fits the best in the boxes, and what they have envelopes for. Still lots of goodies from Spellbinders to drool over!

At Christmas time I paid $4.95 for a JustRite catalog that disappointed me in that it had tons of product but not so many cards done by the DT which is what I enjoy most. So yesterday I got a 2012 Winter catalog in the mail FREE! This one is loaded with samples and is like looking at a SB catalog now that JR and SB have formed some kind of partnership. Lots to see.ReplyCancel
