Give Thanks

Card Making Ideas by Becca Feeken using Quietfire Design Give Thanks and Spellbinders Mary Border Strip - www.amazingpapergrace.com
Good morning blog friends, I have a sweet new sentiment by Quietfire Design called Give Thanks  and you guessed it, I’m using it for a Thanksgiving Card.  Normally I’m off to dinners at a friends house over the holiday, so over the course of the season I make a couple of elegant cards to bring along for the occasion.  This card has been languishing on my work table for a couple of weeks while I second guessed if the border could live on the left hand side or not.  Lol, I’m being brave today!  I’m always looking for some way *not* to make the same cards over in any case, I absolutely love the Spellbinders Mary Border Strip this is my first time to use it!

Card Making Ideas by Becca Feeken using Quietfire Design Give Thanks and Spellbinders Mary Border Strip - www.amazingpapergrace.com
The pennants on the card were simply cut with scissors.  To get the border in place I simply cut  four border strips then used the border to cut the left edge of the card.  I glued the gold edging on top of the cream on the inside and outside of the card.  :-)  Can’t wait to try this out on the bottom of a card too!

Gorgeous card. Can’t wait for the die to become available in the US.
Wish you would list in your accessories under each card what your embossing background is. Some of them are so very pretty would love to be able to get them. Being fairly new to card crafting, still acquiring supplies. lewReplyCancel

I love the card! I love neutral colors as well and the Quietfire sentiment is perfect for Thanksgiving. Just a note to you Becca, when I click on the Spellbinders die listed in the Accessories section of (Crafts Supplies I used) and the link under the first picture of the card, it goes to the Quietfire site not Spellbinders site. The Quietfire link also goes to the Quietfire link.
Your bows are so fantastic as well! You are truly an inspiration!ReplyCancel

  • Joni StonekingNovember 3, 2014 - 9:18 am

The left border work beautifully, and the card will be a treasure to whomever receives it. I’m confused about attaching it, though. From looking at the product, it appears to me that it cuts the border out completely, so I am curious about how you got one that was left attached to the gold paper…..would love to know how you did that!

    Thanks Becca,
    JoniReplyCancel

This card is absolutely stunning! Beautiful creation, Becca. I like Joni and Blue Rose can’t figure out how you got the gold border to stick to the cardstock border you cut out. Perhaps a little glue but still can’t figure it out.
Thanks for helping us with the details which to you are a “piece of cake!”ReplyCancel

In your honest humble opinion, which is the best Embossing & Die-cutting machine to buy ?

I want to save up for one I saw the Sizzix Big Shot Pro and am liking it but I want your opinion of it first.ReplyCancel

  • Kelly FlahertyNovember 3, 2014 - 10:59 pm

Becca, this card is so very sophisticated and elegant. I would love to copy your idea for the left-side border, but I wasn’t clear on how you attached it to the card. Or did you just use the die to cut out the left side of your card and then cover it with the gold cardstock?ReplyCancel

  • Kelly FlahertyNovember 3, 2014 - 11:09 pm

One more question sweet Becca – the patterned paper used on your background (I’m assuming it’s patterned paper) do you remember who makes it? I realize you have several tons of paper and you’ve horded some over the years, so it may be one that is not being made any more, but thought I’d ask! I still have a FULL patterned paper pack that I bought in 2001 that I have not used at all – it’s too beautiful and I just can’t seem to bring myself to cut any of it!!!ReplyCancel
