Filled with Joy

Hi there blog friends!  The cool air has me sitting here in toasty socks and sipping Pumpkin Spice Coffee :-)  Fall came practically overnight, but I’m not complaining, I’m savoring.  I’m really not absent – I’ve had furniture in my living room since April that needed to be put together and picking a day here and a day there, I’ve managed to get most of it done.  Back in April I also got one of the large 5 cubbies by 5 cubbies Expedit bookcases for my sewing room.  Yesterday I toiled on my own to get it put together although there’s no such thing as me standing it up – it weighs at least 200 pounds.  Imagine me, triumphant.  Imagine me, questioning whether it really would fit down the hallway.  Imagine me, sliding the box it came in along to floor to simulate moving it.  Imagine me, dismayed because I discovered it would not make the sharp turn into the sewing room.  Imagine me, disassembling it to reassemble it in the tight quarters where it will live.  Grrrrrr…….  My own fault, but that’ll be my Saturday.  In the meantime, I relaxed by putting together a card made using two of the new sets this month from Our Daily Bread Designs.

The oval shape is cut using ODBD’s Elegant Ovals, a custom die made by Spellbinders which matches the new Elegant Ovals stamp set.  On top of that I used Spellbinders Labels Fourteen – I divided up my sentiment from Christmas Door so that I could pop a couple of buttons in the center.

SUPPLIES I USED
Stamps: Our Daily Bread Designs – Elegant Ovals, Christmas Door
Paper: Authentique, Bazzill
Ink: Colorbox Cranberry  Pigment Ink, Versafine Onyx Black
Accessories: Our Daily Bread Designs
Elegant Ovals Die, Spellbinders Labels Fourteen, Seam Binding, Martha Stewart Punch All Over –  Caning Pattern Tile, Recollection Pearls

I hope you are savoring the change in seasons wherever you are.  Think of me while I’m doing my replay today and I should be back tomorrow with another card!

Oh you poor woman! I had to move by myself once while my husband was deployed, and I did something just like that! Not fun AT ALL!!!! I guess this just means you’ll be able to put it together with your eyes closed by the time it’s all done. Good luck :) Your card for today was gorgeous! Thanks, as always for sharing your amazing talent!ReplyCancel

Oh, can I relate to your story! About a year ago, we went shopping to buy a craft table to replace an old one. We ended up buying the floor model-yeah, it was assembled. It fit in DH’s SUV-although a rather tight squeeze. We couldn’t get it through the front door, so opted to go around the house and use the patio door. Success!! However, we tried every which way possible, upside, downside, sideways, etc. but there was no way to get it into my studio. So…… we had to take it all apart, and reassemble in my studio. Argh!!!! The upside was it was discounted because it was the floor model, and I LOVE this table!
Your card is beautiful, and I am so glad you made the time to create!ReplyCancel

Getting us geared up for Christmas with your lovely card! I have missed your daily shares but so understand! Those put together yourself items can be overwhelming. Those furniture sliders come in handy for moving heavy objects. My hobby room was finished during our remodel and we had all the furniture moved in. The contractor gave us the go-ahead to move in. We then found out the wood floor guys didn’t get the final coat on the floor. We had to move everything back out of the room for the final coat. We know those sliders are very helpful! Good luck today with the rebuild of your cubbies. :)ReplyCancel

SOOO CHRISTMASSSY!!!!!!!! ;) YEP, I’m getting with the fall season! The rain & the wind have knocked off alot of the leaves here.:( But, it’s STILL pretty here! NOW, you can see up the side of the mountain! :) I’ve ALWAYS liked that! That way, you can see the deer or elk easier! :)ReplyCancel

  • Angela FehrOctober 22, 2011 - 9:40 am

My husband would have fit it in – he has a magical way of getting things through doorways. Though it involves a lot of grunting and possibly yelling. I love this card – you always inspire me by the way you layer your die cuts.ReplyCancel

Oh no sorry you had to go throug all the troubles to get it placed roight. But I think, we have all been doing this mistake sometime in our life too he he he. And if you can´t say anything else about it, you can at least say, you learned to check first another time, I´m sure ha ha ha.
Your cards is awesome hun, really really beautiful. I love the colors and the way you put it together. It looks fabulous as alaways hun.

    Becca,
I love this card. I like the background. I like to use holly in my christmas cards.

I know how it is to try to put things together yourself. This piece of furniture sat in my dinning room for weeks. We thought our son in law would help us but he was works a lot of hours. So we decided to do it ourselves. We got almost all the way up when it would not go thru the door. Back down & we had to take it apart to get it up. It also was very heavy. Afterwards I said to my husband what are 2 old people like us doing this. IF you lived cloaed we could help you since we are now experienced movers. Ha Ha.ReplyCancel

    Beautiful card as always Becca!!!
I have two shelving units in my trunk right now that has been there for about a month because they are to heavy for me to carry in. I can’t even get them turned around to get to the end of them to open the box to get one piece at a time and carry end. They will just stay there until I get someone to bring them in :)ReplyCancel

Love this card!! Everything works together so beautifully
I am a “one woman band too” so I have been down the road you just traveled with the bookcase If you can’t lift it then you drag or push it ! Independent women just won’t let a 200 pound bookcase get the best of them . LOL

I moved 3 times in 4 years and two of them were interstate moves. Without any help I packed and unpacked over 200 boxes. I had to disassemble all of my wire shelving units and anything else that came apart to conserve space on the moving truck. And I am old enough to be your mother :)
It does feel good to say ” Yup I did it myself “ReplyCancel

  • Mary SchmidtOctober 22, 2011 - 2:41 pm

I know what you are going through. I purchased 3-4 pieces of the Besta shelving units. I live alone with no one to help me. It was a Pain to try to get the large boxes from the car to the house. I had to put the large pieces together in my small craft room as I wouldn’t be able to get it in the room after it was put together. (I better not move. LOL!) I couldn’t even lay them on the floor as there wasn’t room. Then, there are no words, only pictures, to put it together. No help to hold pieces while you attempt to screw them together or any one to ask for help when it doesn’t go as planned. But they look nice when they are done!! There is a sense of accomplishment when I look at them all put together.ReplyCancel

Good Morning Becca, a lovely card indeed.
Good luck with the furniture, my husband did the same thing and couldn’t get it apart !!!! it was glued fast, it now resides in my dining room, where it was built.

Oh Becca, I think we have all done that at least once in our life. I built one of those little playhouses for my children when they were little and it had to be disassembled to take it and put it on the back patio. That was soo much fun. I love your card and I love ODBD.ReplyCancel

    Such a lovely designed card!

Argh, what an ordeal to get that shelf in the right place! I’ve totally been there and understand how these things can take longer than expected….but worth it in the end! I just finished, (well almost) painting all the cupboards in my kitchen! Phew, it took all summer, but it’s so lovely, it was worth it!

LOVING Autumn and all that brings, snuggly sweaters, hot drinks, hostessing, creative studio time, and Fall colors…love it too!

    Enjoy! Hugs!ReplyCancel

Becca, I totally understand your frustration with your bookcase. It is hard enough the first time, let alone having to do it again. It should be easier this time though. ha

Hi Becca toatally love the card. Now for the bookcase you need to go to Big Lots or a store that has the little sliders you put under each corner and the you can slide it with ease. I do my china cabinet filled that way.ReplyCancel
