Day 13 – 30 Days of Giving

Card Making Ideas by Becca Feeken using Spellbinders - www.amazingpapergrace.com
Saving the Written Word

Welcome to my 30 Days of Giving – every day during the month of July I’m giving away a handmade card – you can read all the specifics HERE.  You can check to see if you’ve won a card by looking under the Features menu item and selecting Giveaway Winners.

Lol, where did the weekend go?  Yikes!   I’ll have new cards to show this week as I’m busily crafting.  In the mean time I hope you’ll enjoy one that is you’ve seen before but it’s new to many of you.  It’s a format that I would make again and the original post is HERE.

For today’s comment –  you get a break from the questions.  What’s on your mind?

The card that’s being given away today is shown above.  Just a note – this is a card that has been shown before and there is a possibility that some of the supplies that were used are currently discontinued, no doubt there will be something you can substitute – have a look through my galleries for alternative ideas.  Many things can still be found on the open market, just google and you’ll find that many retailers are still selling.

WR-Supplies

Stamps: JustRite Papercrafts –  True Friends Vintage Labels Four
Paper: Neenah Classic Crest – Natural White – 80lb Smooth
Ink:  Amuse Latte, Versafine Onyx Black
Accessories:  Spellbinders Gold Elements, Spellbinders Medallion One, Spellbinders Adorning Squares, May Arts Silk Ribbon, Maya Roads Trinket Pin

post-header-bottomI have to admit, I pulled out Christmas paper and am working with some Christmas Dies this week.  I love the feeling I get when I have the first Christmas card done.  It’s just like oiling the holiday part of my creativity.  Don’t be surprised if you see Christmas soon :-)

Today..juggling balls in the air, thinking on details, taking a class this morning as mortgages and closings will be completely different in a few months. Praying for my friend and her daughter with cancer. Loving your card which is beautiful against a world that can be tough. Wanting to somehow have time to create cards like these to send love to them during tough times, or just to say you are loved. To point them to the One who holds the answers to life.ReplyCancel

Yeah! I can finally comment on your card without forgetting because I start right in with an answer to the question. So, today, it doesn’t matter if we’ve seen the cards or not, they are always so beautiful. The lacy look of the die cuts, the ribbon, the pearls and the sentiments are always so beautiful. This card is something you know would bring maybe a smile or relief to someone. It’s something they can hold in their hands and look at over and over again. Tuck it away and bring it out again. A keepsake to know that they were being thought of.

What’s on my mind today? The heat. Ugh! Living in North East Florida the heat index was 110 and above this weekend since Friday. It’s so difficult to anything outside. Especially with the humidity. Even at night when the weather cools to 80 degrees…………ha ha. Please………..we need our 3 days of fall. We’ve a long way to go.ReplyCancel

Another wonderful card with a gorgeous bow. Love those fancy corner pieces. I just went to a Stamp Show yesterday and got carried away. One of the dies I bought was your Arched Elegance Pocket. I would love to see more of what you’re doing with it. I also got the sweet little church die and hope you’ll be doing something with that now that you’re getting into Christmas mode. I am really enjoying all your beautiful cards and see how you’re going to challenge us to respond to your question or comment of the day. Thanks for all you do for the crafting world.ReplyCancel

Beautiful card as always, Becca. Last night we had a windstorm come through and we have one old tree down in our backyard and part of our newer maple tree ripped down as well. My husband wants to go out with his new toy, a chainsaw, and take care of the problem himself. He is in his 70’s and has never done this kind of thing before. I’m trying to talk him out of it. Wish me luck!ReplyCancel

I just love this card! It is one of my favorites of yours. Beautiful! What is on my mind? Prayerful thoughts. My part-time job is teambuilding with groups of all ages. Today we have a group of kids that are from local area shelters coming together to build confidence and learn to find their voice. They have many many issues and it makes me feel very blessed to have had the life I do. I pray that we can touch their life in someway even if it’s a tiny way. Off I go! :-)ReplyCancel

  • Joni StonekingJuly 13, 2015 - 8:48 am

Oh, this card is beautiful, and so perfect (and had me googling for supplies before I ever got to commenting!).

I have been laid up for about 10 days now…the start to a way different summer than I “planned” on. We all know how that goes! I broke my ankle and my leg and need surgery, which will happen in a few days now. I have been humbled by all the people who are praying for me, sending good wishes etc. and rather than get caught up in hours of FB…which can sneak up on one really quickly! …I have been trying to pray for people who are way worse off than I and send encouraging notes. I do have my husband check those notes over, because pain meds can do funny things to one’s brain processes….

So that is what has been in my mind and heart…Thursday it will be back to ground zero in many ways to start healing again, and trying to focus anywhere but on myself. Thanks again for another day of opportunity to focus on blessings and gratitude…it really does make a difference in how the day goes!

  • Colleen HowellJuly 13, 2015 - 9:05 am

Yes I remember this one, I love it. You do such a great job at making cards. Well I have a lot on my mind these days. But I am really trying to decide if I want to make cards, mixed media, and other crafts and start selling them on Etsy, not to just make money but I love to do all of this stuff and sometimes I have no one I can give them to because they may not need it or like that style. Just so I can create and not have it all stacked up in my house and little extra money would be nice to I could buy more stamps, dies, tools etc… I know it would not make a lot of money but would be nice any way. I hope to see a Christmas card soon, I love Christmas and when you hand make cards for everyone it is a good idea to start early!ReplyCancel

Hi Becca, Whats on my mind is prayer I particulary love this card just because it strikes a chord in my heart and soul. I am praying
how to get well and stay well. I just can’t seem to stay well the past two years. Just getting over walking pneumonia. I have tried everything my doctor has told me to do. Some think it is grief of loosing my husband 2 1/2 yrs ago. We had a blessed 45 yrs married. Grief takes time to learn to cope and move forward. I know prayer works so whatever it is praying is a good thing because God hears and knows all. I will be praying for you too.

I made this card from your past post and I just love it. I am so happy you are bringing back the cards that you made in the past. I hope you continue to do it in the future. Just as I opened your page I was thinking, after the 6th phone call, how can I get rid of the pesky, annoying advertisement calls. Found out even if you hang up on the recording, the message still plays and you are not disconnected until it’s done. Hope I never have to make an emergency phone call while these are still playing. And they´re all crafty friends too, so we´re planning all the fun, we´re all going to have, when they get here and making small gifts for all of them, so we´re pretty busy these days ha ha ha.ReplyCancel

Lots on my mind but first I want to tell you that this card is another total winner. And I for one would LOVE to see Christmas! ;o)

Spent the weekend with son and partner and trying to decide if we want to move. We sold our condo this year and made a major move to a small town. We are going forward as renters and just can’t decide on where we want to live or should we just try to settle where we are….so many questions and decisions.ReplyCancel

    Hi, Becca,
You said it, the weeks fly by so fast!

Christmas cards, huh? Gosh, I wish I didn’t have so many projects to catch up on. It’s always a mad dash to Christmas and I vow every year to start earlier. Thoughts of Christmas really inspire creativity, don’t you think? I always have way more ideas than I can act on. I’ll bet ideas start to percolate at the mere mention of Christmas cards…

    Thank you, Becca!

    Hi Becca!

I remember when you 1st showed this card! I loved it so much that I had to get the dies to give my hand a try at scrap-lifting.

What is on my mind today? Hmmm…how burdened my heart is.
    -frustration in our government

-angry/upset over EXTREMELY high costs of health insurance which has forced me back to work after 19+ yrs of being just a mommy.

-disappointed in myself for not being able to “get it all done” each day ie. laundry, dishes grocery shopping etc.

-burdened for my 3 daughters (esp. my 17yr old) I wish we were closer and not butting heads all the time.

-burdened for my husband who works 16-18 hours a day and his health has me worried. Doctors have no answers despite 2 years of referrals and specialists.

I could really go on and on but I really need to be vigilant in praying continuously and giving it over to God.

But I just kept feeling like I needed to do this.
Just tonight I listened to your reasons for making cards.
Thank you, Thank you. You made me realize, it is the “giving” that is the importance of doing this. It really is a beautiful way to brighten someones life.

    Good morning Becca,
I love it when you make this type of card that you do as it is just so elegant and chic looking. When i look at the shops and their cards that are all “lazer” cut i think that the designers must have looked at your cards first and copied the design element that you use to make theirs. The first i seen a filigree card that was totally made only out of that was when i came across your site. You just seem to find out a new way of using them and making things of beauty out off. I can’t say that it is only cards you make out of your wonderful imagination and dies as it is not, you make the most wonderful gifts out of them as well.
Becca, you are lagging behind in the Christmas stakes as across here in the UK Christmas making has now started in June and i am left wondering when it will be that the start on boxing day to start selling and making for the next years Christmas. I wish the retailers would let us enjoy each season as it comes around and not 6-8 months before it starts. Last year we had Easter eggs before Christmas came, days i’ll grant you but still we hadn’t had Christmas yet. Anyway that’s my pet niggle and soapbox moan over, have a great day flower and thank you for bringing pleasure to an awful lot of people.
    Love and crafty hugs

I saw earlier today that Heidi Swapp’s son passed away. My daughters are the same age and my heart aches for her and her family. I would love to see this card go to her.ReplyCancel

I have just been diagnosed with breast cancer so my mind is full of questions. How do I tell my family and friends. What will the treatment entail. What will the next 6 months be like.
But this I know with Gods help and support from all who love me and whom I love ,I will have the strength to keep goingReplyCancel

Your cards are so lovely that I’m actually having difficulty finding words to express how I feel about your creations and the inspiration you share. I think i need a Thesaurus to find new words lol!
I admit I have little on my mind today except coping with pain. My recent shoulder surgery is healing but physical therapy today keeps my shoulder screaming at me as a reminder that it hurts. It’s not funny but I do have to try to find the humor or loose it altogether. I’m six months into recovery from a terrible fall resulting in broken bones so I have to find a way to cope. I’m doing my best to find things to laugh about. That’s what’s on my mind today. LOL!ReplyCancel
