Circle of Strength

Don’t forget about the Girls Paperie Blog Candy. It runs until sometime in the evening on Tuesday, May 31st. You can click —->HERE<—- to get to the correct post to leave a comment.

Hi there blog friends, I hope you are having a wonderful weekend, wherever you are!  If you are with family over this holiday weekend, hopefully my card will resonate.  Todays card is another of the beautiful new releases with Quietfire Design called A Family is a Circle of Strength.
I hope you are not getting tired of this color palette.  Since my laces are on top of the pile, I keep reaching for them and they are typically mauve, cream and white — so there you have it. You may have seen me using something similar on past cards but it was a small, discontinued stamp and the script was very compressed . . . on the other hand . . . this one is available!   The text here is beautifully spaced and the sweet flourishes reach for the outside of my circle.

The bottom layer of my medallion is made using a one of my older tutorials about creating frames and circles using corner punches – you can see that tutorial HERE. When I originally created this, the newer Martha Stewart  Corner Punches were not on the market, so if you use them, do not remove the wings.  I then added a frame using Spellbinders Standard Circles LG and Spellbinders Standard Circles SM along with a floating circle for the center.  I added some lace and sheer ribbon tied with my Peg Bow Maker as shown in this Figure Eight Loops Bow Tutorial.  The card base for this card is 5.5″ x 7″ – my favorite size card and I typically piece my card bases to get the size I need.  You can see I how do that and disguise it so that you cannot tell in my Piecing a Card Base Tutorial.  I finished the card with the matching MS border punch along the bottom.

SUPPLIES I USED
Stamps: Quietfire Design – A Family is a Circle of Strength
Paper: My Minds Eye, Coredinations, K and Co.
Ink: Fire Brick Distress Ink, Vintage Photo Distress Ink
Accessories: Spellbinders Standard Circles LG, Spellbinders Standard Circles SM, EK Success Dotted Scallop Punch, Martha Stewart Swirling Lace Border and Corner Punch, Recollections Pearls, Corsage Pins, Peg Bow Maker

Bless you all . . . really!!  I’ll see you soon!!

Another fabulous card. I know you said you get your laces from Joann’s, but I guess my store doesn’t carry them–just gorgeous. Hey, in the past you have asked what we would like to see on your blog. I, for one, am curious about what it’s like to be a designer for a stamp and/or die cut company? How do you get selected? Do they pay you or just in product? How often do you have to produce projects for them? I follow several blogs for designers and I was just curious.

As always a beautiful card. Fantastic sentiment! Thank you so much for referring back to your tutorials. I often find I don’t have what I need to accomplish something you teach us especially with punches. When you refer back to it later I realize; Hey I have what I need now and can finally put your teaching to use. At times is just a technique I haven’t used for a while and it’s wonderful to go back to it again. Thanks for sharing your amazing talent.
    Blessings BernieReplyCancel

    Hi Becca,
It has been a while since I commented but I am still here and I have not missed a day of checking your blog. As usual all the cards are stunning and I love the new lacy look . I always love your choice of papers too and you usually say which company makes them ; I wonder if you could also say which collection they come from . Just keep doing what you do and what you love best. Finally ,is there any chance that you would have a monthly draw where , say, people who vote or comment could receive one of your beautiful cards. If they look so beautiful on the computer I am sure your followers would love to have one of your works of art.
    love

Hi Becca. Thank you for the beautiful cards you share with us so faithfully. I love this stamp and appreciate your exposing us to what’s ‘out there’. I just read your preview to the newest poll and your poll and think the poll would be easier to answer if we were rating them in order of importance to us. I would hate to have to choose between some of those. Yet I know they are all time consuming. I’ll attempt to choose, but it will be hard. Thanks!ReplyCancel

I love seeing all the new projects and tutorials on how to make them. Being somewhat new, I also like any posts on the basics….and also on organizing all our “stuff.” My husband just made me bowmaker….smile…..and I’m about to label all my Nesties. Next I’m going to tackle the ribbons.

I’d love to see photos of where you do your cards.
