Blossoming Health

Is there anything you cannot stamp on?  Today I stamped on wax paper and I was surprised that it worked out just like I wanted.  During our last Waltzingmouse Stamps release there was a service issue with the manufacturer and Claire delayed the release until now – it’s in stock!  This has been one of my favorites and I’ve loved playing around with the set, but didn’t want to tease needlessly.  I’m back with a card today featuring that magnificent seed packet from Vintage Seed Packet ; I wanted some translucence but not the bulk of vellum so made it from wax paper.  The template for the seed packet is HERE – since I made mine from wax paper, I simply hand cut it using the template as a guide.

I’m not sure if my wax venture was successful because of the ink I used or the patience exhibited, lol.  I simply stamped with Amuse French Roast Ink, left alone for a minute or two then ever so gingerly hit it with a couple of shots from my heat gun. It is fragile, so I tried to keep my hands off of the ink.  Not sure if there is any such thing as heat setting on wax paper but I think it made the ink fuse into the wax and settle down.  Don’t you just love an experiment?  Because I use wax paper with most of my dies now – I never throw out the cutout shapes and now I may be able to set my mind around a suitable use!

For the card I used Spellbinders™ Grand Large Labels for my card base and layered a panel on top of that.  Then I created a border piece that I stamped with French Country.    To set it apart from my panel I framed the border with Spellbinders™ Frosty Forms.  I stamped and mounted my seed packet then cut a panel  to fit inside – it’s stamped with  the carnation and a sentiment from Vintage Seed Packet also.    I topped off the packet insert with Spellbinders™ Decorative Labels Eight as an easy way to grab the panel.   As always, pearls seem right at home with a bit of seam binding.

Love your card! Great colors and bling! I use waxed paper on all my dies that have fancy cut-outs. It is so much easier removing the die from the paper or card stock. Before I discovered using waxed paper, I tore some of the cut outs trying to remove them. Now waxed paper is a staple on my craft table.ReplyCancel

WHOA — you are truly AMAZING and it never ceases to amaze me the way your mind works?! I’ve tried some crazy things, but it honestly never would have occurred to me to even try to stamp (let alone heat set) anything on waxed paper — WOW!!! Can’t wait to try, but better get my to-do-list whittled down a bit first!!! Totally COOL — TFS, Becca!!!ReplyCancel

Becca your brain is a stirring! And how we all love it! Wax paper cutouts are like frost in the air or like wisps of vapor…they are just so beautiful. I was wondering though did you use a dye or pigment ink on the wax paper. I suppose I should just get in there and get experimenting myself…such fun. How did you join the wax paper seams together? Score tape or glue dots on the backside? Just wonderin. All the elements on your card are beautiful and wonderful and I am so happy WaltzingMouse has their order back in! Whoo Hoo!ReplyCancel

    Becca,

Your cards are always beautiful and inspiring. I love the idea of making the pocket out of wax paper, but I cannot open the link for the template. It is not highlighted. Can you tell me the web address so that I can get it. Thank you again for being a true inspiration both artistically and spiritually.

I love your card and your idea for the wax paper pocket! It looks so delicate. It reminds me of glassine bags, but the supplies are right there in your own kitchen!
I ordered the seed packet stamps and a couple of other items during the original release but Claire had to refund my payment due to the issue with the supplier. I’m looking forward to placing a new order right away!
Also, I received my October Kit on Saturday and couldn’t more thrilled! I can’t wait to begin crafting with all the lovely stamps, dies, and papers.
Thanks for sharing your lovely art!

Love, love the card. I’m confused about using wax paper with the dies, could you please explain where and how you do that? I’m assuming it helps with removing the cardstock from the cutout. I am curious to the layering. Thanks MaryReplyCancel
