As promised, I’m giving away another set of Spellbinders Nestabilities!!!   Don’t  you love it when you get to the end of the year and someone says, "Hey, I’ll see you next year" and it throws you off?  Well I’m offering a set of Long Scalloped Rectangle Nestabilities for this blog candy, but I won’t be picking the winner until next year, he..he…he.

You are eligible to win it by leaving a comment on this post telling me a little bit about your New Years Resolution – except this time instead of picking an item that you are going to do, tell me about one that you are not going to do for the New Year.   Your comment should be entered before Friday, January 2nd at 9:00am CST.   The winner will be picked by random.org on 1/02 some time in the afternoon.   The winner will be responsible for checking back to see if they’ve won and stepping forward to claim the prize by emailing their shipping address within 48 hours.   Every 48 hours another name will be pulled until we have a winner.  One comment per person, please.

ETA:  If you have just landed here and intend to leave a comment for the blog candy I hope you grab a cup of coffee and spend a minute reading the comments made before yours, I promise you, you are in for for a great read!  I sat down and read through all the comments that have accumulated since I posted the candy and have smiled through every one.  You are the most inspiring and positive readers and I’m touched by those who stop and share.  This….is the reason why I blog.

On another note – have you checked out my new Questions and Answers page?  Yep, in order to keep up with questions left here, I have a new system.  Instead of culling through my comments for questions left by readers, I have a submission form on the Questions and Answer page that will put the question into a queue for me to handle.   So far, so good!  If you’ve left a comment asking a question, I might not be able to uncover it there.  Why not hop over to the Questions and Answers page and submit  your question – as of now, I’m all caught up on the message queue.

I’m working on some items and with the New Years Holiday approaching, posting will be at odd times.  Hang in there with me!!

Merry Christmas and Happy New Year to you, Becca! Thank you for the chance to try for such delicious blog candy!!! The one thing that I am going to be concentrating on not doing (with the Lord’s help) in the coming year is sweating the small stuff — to let it go and give more focus on what is really important — to leave the outcome in God’s hands and let Him take care of it all. Would really love to have those scalloped spellbinders (they are on my wish list)! Thank you for sharing such a wonderfully creative blog! I find it refreshing and inspiring and so glad to see a “sister” out there creating with the talents God has given her!! Enjoy! ~Amy S.~ReplyCancel

Hi Becca, Thanks so much for an opportunity to win these Nesties. They have been on my wish list. The one thing I will not do next year is let papers pile up too long. I have a bad habit of piling up all the paperwork on the counter until it is too large to want to tackle. From now on I will tend to everything as they come in. Now I have pretty pictures on the counter where the papers used to go. Whoo hoo!! Happy Happy and Safe New Year to you and your family!!!!ReplyCancel

  • LindaDecember 28, 2008 - 7:01 am

    Hello Becca –

I think this year I will not purchase my paper crafting items on impulse. I love everything in the stores and pick up so many things that disappear into the black hole of supplies that I have in my closet. I want to select a project, and then get the supplies, if I need any, for it.

    Happy New Year to all.

    Hi Becca,
Well now let me see…..I have already given up smoking many years ago, I don’t drink, I don’t swear, so maybe not eating so much would be perfect…..I am always on a diet that never seems to get me to where I want to be so I will try once again to reach that goal….
Your blog is great and I think the question and answer part will be so helpful. Thanks for the blog candy offer that would be wonderful to win.
May you have a happy and blessed New Year….ReplyCancel

  • Janet ZeppaDecember 28, 2008 - 7:20 am

    Happy New Year everyone!ReplyCancel

  • JoyceDecember 28, 2008 - 7:20 am

I am definately NOT going to promise to lose a ton of weight. That is a set up for failure. What I am going to do instead is work on being healthy – make better choices, drink more water and keep moving. If that brings on weight loss – awesome – if not, I’m fine where I’m at. I just want to be healthy.ReplyCancel

As I read all of the above comments I thought I’d like to do all of those things! So many hit home to me. This year I will try NOT to let my craft room stay messy after a project and I will try NOT to let things that I bought for stamping or scrapbooking stay in the package and not be used yet another year! Thanks for the chance at the nesties. I’m just starting to buy some so winning these would certainly help the budget. Have a wonderful New Year!

I usually do not set New Years resolutions for myself, but…I could certainly improve on time management! My big goal would be to quit work, & still have money & insurance. Since it doesn’t look like I’ll be able to quit, I’ll have to utilize that time better when I’m not there. Thanks, Becca, for the chance. Your blog is so wonderful and refreshing!ReplyCancel

HEY I wanna win that long rectangle nestability set. That looks wild.

My New Year’s Resolution to not do something is to not get irritated at the little tiny things in life. The things that do not matter. A car that cuts me off, don’t get mad. A customer at my job asks me a question that I already answered a million times earlier (I work at Wal-Mart) and not get my feathers ruffled.

My father recently passed away (Dec 5) from cancer and I will tell you that the little things are not going to drive me nuts anymore. God is shaping me into a different sort of person as a result of my Father’s passing.

Have a great week, my fingers are now crossed!

The one thing I’m not going to do is worry. My husband keeps telling me that I worry about everything & everyone and that I worry about not having anything to worry about!! So as the old saying goes……..

If you worry, you didn’t pray, and if you pray, don’t worry!!

So, no more worrying for me. WOW, what a relief it is to know that God is in control of my life & he knows what’s best. I can feel a wonderful New Year ahead for us!

    Becca,
Thanks for the opportunity to win some awesome blog candy. Hope you and your family had a wonderful Christmas.

As many of the other responders have said,
-I’m gonna try to not spend so much time stalking websites and do more creating.
-I’m not gonna sweat the small stuff. Life’s too short to worry about a rude comment from a stranger, getting cut off in traffic and things I cannot change.
-I’m not gonna put myself last on my priority list. If I take an hour a day to do something good for me, I’ll be better able to take care of the other people in my life.
There are more, but that’s enough for now. Again, thanks for the blog candy. Happy New Year.ReplyCancel

I am going to try not to buy on impulse. I have way too many things in my craft room that show that I buy because I may need it in the futrue or I buy because it is on sale. Hi becca! great blog candy! thanks for doing this.
Hmmmm……well, I would say that my New Year’s Resolution NOT to do something would be to not keep spending money on uneccessary items. I would like to start a savings acct. which I’m not really good at. I was never really taught how to save unfortunately as I come from a family of spenders. But, that’s no excuse! I got some good, christian financial advice a while back and need to put it into action. I hope to be able to do this by the first of the year. Great question!ReplyCancel

Merry Christmas & Happy New Year!!!!! Thanks for offering the blog candy again. I really want these dies, they have been on my wishlist for quite some time. I hope this new year brings us just the basics, a job for my husband, decent food on the table, and being able to pay the bils. I don’t need anything other than that, I already have my family & friends, that means everything to me right now. Have a wonderful holiday, and wish me luck!!ReplyCancel

I know what I need to do – I will just do it! I will write down my accomplishments and NOT fret over what’s NOT getting done. thanks for a new way to look at things. and thanks for the chance for the nesties! I LOVE THEM!

    Hi Becca,

I hope you had a great holiday so far and a Happy New Year. Thanks for the chance to win great blog candy. I love what you do with the nestabilities and have been buying them little by little.

What I am not going to do this year is ignore all the products I purchased in the past and buy more. I am going to break out the old purchases and use them. Of course, I won’t be able to stay away from some new products, but I am going to make an effort to dust off the old and use it.

    Thanks again!

    Hi Becca;
I am new to this world of all you bloggers. I am so enjoying all the creative projects you all create. I do not stamp. I am not artistic and could never color like you all do. So I am not going to beat myself up because I am NOT LIKE ALL OF YOU. I will enjoy the creative juices you all express and pull from your creative layouts and be HAPPY with what I am able to create.
I have just discovered the Nestibilities from looking at all the blogs. I have the circles and the ovals but am really wanting the rectangles. Since I can’t create the beautiful stamped images you all do, I can create backgrounds with the nesties.
Anyway, I LOVE all that you guys do and go to your blogs every morning and see what you have for me pull ideas from.
I so appreciate that I have discovered this world of bloggers.
Thank you so much for the opportunity to win this candy….

    Your projects rock!!!
This year I won’t be letting the small things get to me. I am going to let GOD take care of me and my family, I realize the only way to move ahead in life is to really trust GOD. My goal for the New Year is to
build up my Resume. I am starting a new Job on January 12th, and also getting ready to take the Real Estate Exam. I want to have many options in the future for myself and my family.

Becca! What a wonderful treat! Thank you for the opportunity.
Hubby and I were talking about resolutions last night. I’m determined to get better organized with my time so that I do less creating on the computer and more actual creating on paper! What I mean is… what I create on the computer is not digital scrapbooking. They are files to cut out using my cricut. I spend so much time making the file but never actually cut them :o( So my plan is to make sure that each day that I spend at least as much time physically creating as I do digitally creating :)

  • Sue CDecember 28, 2008 - 10:40 am

Interestingly enough, I have exactly two resolutions, and both of them are what I’m NOT going to do this year: I am NOT going to say every little thing that pops into my head – just because it’s in my head doesn’t mean it needs to come out my mouth. I am NOT going to spend time and/or energy on anything that does not move me further along my path – be it draining relationships, items I don’t use any more, pasttimes that no longer interest me – whatever! If it’s not serving a purpose in my life (uplifting me, allowing me to uplift someone else, serving a useful purpose – which could include entertainment or aesthetics , and so on) it’s outta here! If I’m the lucky recipient of this fabulous blog candy, it will be my very first set of Nesties – great way to start the New Year, I’m thinkin’! Thank you so much for all of your inspiration and generosity during this year now coming to a close – you truly are a gifted, blessed individual, and your blog is one that stays on the list I’m keeping! Love and light to you and yours this year!ReplyCancel

Anyway, the resolution that I am NOT doing this year? Becca, one thing I WON’T stop doing is visiting your site! That would just be a bad idea of something I would stop doing! So I’ll be visiting daily, as I always do.

But on the note of what I’ll not do (or try not to do) is to leave projects and supplies out and a mess. It takes ever so much longer to finish a project when one is faced with a papercrafting mess. Therefore, I am pledging to not walk away from my messy workplace to take care of later.

I have decided that at my age it’s time to put myself first and my life’s priorities in order.. I can’t care what others think.. only what is best for me.. I just got back into my stamp room, and I have all sorts of things I have p/u since October, and I have not seen ink or paper. I am really going to try to curb my spending on these items because my goal is to purchase a laptop at the end of 2009. This gives me a whole year to save up the dough! I have a couple of things I won’t do. First I won’t make any resolutions and then be disappointed in myself when I don’t keep them. The second one will be harder! I won’t be buying any more paper for awhile! I have enough to start my own store – but of course the new stuff is so much better than what I have here. Then I hate to use it once I have it – therefore, way to much paper in my house!ReplyCancel

Becca, I have gone to your questions and answers section and like it very much. Great idea! The biggest thing I am NOT going to do this year is buy things that I think I must have when they are on sale. Those coupons are a big draw for me. I worked very hard during the holidays to stay away from Michaels and JoAnn’s. They are great stores but it’s time to get stamping. I have so much stamping “stuff” that I could stamp every day for the next year and hardly make a dent in what I have, especially paper! Guess there are a lot of people who feel the same way. Thanks for the chance to win a goodie. Happy 2009 to you!

    Hi Becca,
What a great idea to share a plan to not do something…my not to do is be afraid to try something new. When I look back at my life I realize I missed out on a few adventures due to fear…although I have done more than a lot of women I know.
My other not to do is not to worry, and to pray much more!! That is hard to do, but with focusing on my relationship with Jesus and allowing Him control, I can relenquish mine.

Before I talk about next year what I don’t want to do this year is forget to tell you what a great blessing you are to me. You are so very generous to us all with your talent and most importantly your faith and I am so very thankful for that.

Now for what I will not do next year I will not let a day go by without creating something. Creating is my Zen and I also believe God speaks to me through my creating. I so enjoy sharing my creations with others that is the true blessing.

What I am not going to do next year is hoard so much craft supplies. I am going to use them more and not buy something just because I want it. Thanks for a chance to win. Also wanted to say how much I enjoy your blog. Thanks for the inspiration.ReplyCancel

  • TommieDecember 28, 2008 - 11:52 am

I will definitely not be ignoring my crafting. There really is no excuse for me not turning out tons of stuff every month. But, one of my other pleasures when not at work is reading. In 2007, I will have read 43 books. Of course, I could still read and craft if I gave up some television. I am a crime show fanatic – Law & ORder, Criminal Minds, CSI . . . So, TV has to go or at least be cut down significantly.

Truth be told, I cruise the internet for ideas but then lack the confidence to strike out on my own. This year, I won’t be doing that. OK, I may “borrow” ideas from the internet, but I think the key is to get going and let nature take it’s course.ReplyCancel

The one thing I plan not to do is to make choices on my on. I plan to always include God in all my daily life. Quick decisions sometimes get me into trouble. The one thing I want to do is trust Him more and depend on His guidance. January 26, 2009 is a big day for me, I am going to have surgery for a left knee replacement and I would like everyone to pray that God will help me and I can get back to my job driving a special
needs school bus. The little children on my bus are so special to me as I do not have any children. They are a handful sometimes, but they are such a joy to me too. I have decided this year to NOT make any resolutions. Too hard to keep! LOL. But, I will try to do all that I can in moderation. Not give up but cut back in many ways. Thanks for the chance to win!

Thanks for a chance to win. I am not going to set unrealistic goals for myself. Our family has been through a lot the past fourteen months: a son with viral ensephalitis that sent an infection to his brain, leaving him with epilepsy (daily seizures), the death of my dad and now my grandson in the hospital having unexpected surgery. I am not going to say yes when (though even deep in my heart I want to repay the kindness that others have shown me) asked to help out when it is just not possible this year. If I keep up this pace, I myself will be in the hospital. What I am going to do is pray for others. That is my ministry this year. Sometime I will be able to more for others when they have a need, and I will be able to return the blessings that our family has received.

What a great question! What I resolve not to do is spend as much time on the computer as I do now. I am finding that my computer time is becoming more and more and I am spending more time looking than doing. So that is this year’s resolution of what NOT to. Thanks for making me think!! Happy New Year!ReplyCancel

  • JanaDecember 28, 2008 - 12:37 pm

    Hello, Becca,
May I first say that your “art work” has been such an inspiration to me! The card I made for Christmas this past month was by far the favorite of all I have made in the past, and I “modeled” it after one of your beautiful cards!
Although I, too, am not a resolution-maker, this coming year, out of necessity, I am NOT going to fill my body with processed, preservative-ridden foods. I was diagosed with metabolic syndrome, and I am not supposed to eat refined sugars or refined flours. My basic eating instructions are, “if it comes in a package with a label on it, DON”T EAT IT!!” ha! While that might be a little over-stated, I understand what my dietition is saying. For the first time in my 54 years of life, I understand that this is about my health, and about feeling better, not so much about losing weight to “look better”. (although, I am supposed to lose weight, too…) So, I am determined that, for a healthier me beginning in 2009, I am NOT going to FAIL!!
Oh, and I am NOT going to sulk if I don’t win the nestie set, even though I have come to LOVE those things!!!
Thanks for the opportunity to try, though! And, please keep those beautiful cards coming!!!
May you be blessed richly by our Heavenly Father!

WOW Awesome blog candy again! I think this coming year I am NOT going to hoard my cards. I tend to make a specific card for someone and then I just can’t bear to give it away. At the end of the year I have so many cards just sitting here – it is such a waste. I may even try and mail a few. Thanks for having blog candy!ReplyCancel

    Becca,

First of all, love your blog. You have lots of great ideas. I can honestly say that its hard to actually think of NOT doing something. I will not smoke, it will be a year in Jan. I guess I made last years resolution. I will not let myself get behind on my craft cleanliness, which really requires me to put things away at the end of crafting, as opposed to before the next crafting time. It is too much to have to clean before crafting.ReplyCancel

  • Cathy SpicerDecember 28, 2008 - 12:53 pm

Thanks for the chance at some AWESOME candy. I love NESTIES!! Gosh, I always have a list of things I WANT to do, but seldom thing about what I don’t want to do. How about make lists that I can never complete? LOL Actually my resolution is to NOT gain any weight. I’m always battling with my weight an while I’ll try to be healthier and lose weight I’ve promised myself not to gain any more. I’ve worked too hard to get rid of the pounds I did lose that I hope to never see them again. Secretly, I hope to send many more packing!ReplyCancel

What a great idea – thanks for the chance to enter. After reading the comments – I find my NOT list resembles some of what was said already:
*NOT worry about things beyond my control, I need to trust in God as He is in control. I need to let things be in His hands and know that He is going to take care of me and whatever happens, He knows I can handle it.
*NOT spend so much time looking at others creations and feeling inadequate when I look at my own. I need to remember why I create and the feeling I get from it and the pleasure it gives my recipient when they receive it.
*NOT buy things on impulse – which I think I’m getting better at so I need to continue to improve on that. :)

Thanks again for the wonderful giveaway!ReplyCancel

Hi Becca – this was such a good idea of yours and reading so many great ideas makes me feel so motivated. I’ve even got some extra ideas about what I will and will not do next year.

    – I won’t be running to share problems with others, before I think of taking them to the Lord in prayer: Run to the throne, not to the phone
    – I won’t hang on to that last piece of designer paper, ‘in case I can’t get any more!’ So what if I can’t get any more – there are beautiful new papers coming out all the time. I’ll enjoy them, and have more space as I use up all my old pieces.
    – I won’t spend so much time on the computer that I don’t have any time left to create.

But one thing I will do – is to continue to enjoy your blog Becca. Thank you for sharing your ideas and your talent. Thank you for the opportunity to win such fabulous blog candy. Happy New Year, and God bless you.

Thank you for the opportunity to win the nestabilities. This year I am planning on carrying through with my resolutions! Every year I make a list of good and not so good things that I need to change, want to accomplish, or have to do and the list sits on the counter and this year I decided I am going to only put a couple items on the list and do them. When those are done I have a second list to pull from so that it will be renewed throughout the year when I get something accomplished.

Hope you have a happy new year!ReplyCancel

OK, I think my real answer will be to not wait any longer to complete my Masters degree. I have been making excuses and have kept myself from moving forward in my career. But 2009 will begin my move forward. Thanks for all you do to inspire us .

Merry Christmas and Happy New Year Becca! I’m making several resolutions this year. First, I resolve to not eat as many sweets. Hopefully this will mean that I am eating healthier and will lose a little weight. I also resolve to not go blogging until I am dressed and the beds are made. It’s amazing how some mornings just slip away! Finally, I resolve to not sneak as many scrappy purchases into the house as I did last year. (In other words, it’s time to use my stash!!!) With that said, you should know that winning those Nesties would help me keep my third resolution since they are on my wish list. LOL!!!ReplyCancel

Hi Becca, I did sit down with my morning cup of coffee, and read every comment. So nice to know I am not alone in so many ways. My resolution is to NOT buy on impulse. The comment about not being able to resist those % off coupons could have been made by me. My DH always says, “How about staying home….then you will save 100%!! :D I also will not hoard my craft supplies….including your blog candy if I am chosen the winner. I am lucky to already have this set, so I will find a deserving friend to pass them along to. Thank you for doing this blog and sharing your wonderful creations and talent. I will be trying not to procrastinate so much this year. I usually say I do my best work under pressure, but it is so stressful to do that, especially when I start out with lots of time to finish a task. Like the old saying goes, “Don’t put off ’til tomorrow, what you can do today.”

WOW Becca – thx for encouraging us to read the other’s “will not do” list. We are all so much alike!!

I have some pretty serious medical things going on and easily become exhausted – when I have a “good day” I always seem to do way too much and then am wiped out for several days. In 2009, I’m not going to be so hard on myself – budget time wisely and get done what I can get done – and not be discouraged when I have to take down time.

Thanks so much for all your wonderful blogs – they just lift my spirits. When my cards grow up, they want to be just like yours.

Becca, your blog is always inspirational to me. I read many of the responses and while I believe in the Laws of Attraction and that goes against focusing on what I won’t do, as that would invite the opposite happening…hehehe. So after thinking for a long time, here is what I won’t do. I won’t buy any scrappy items until I made 2 layouts and two cards at least, than I will reward myself with something. With that said, I am in love with the Spellbinders and I would so love to have them all, but only have the scallop circles, so this would be so welcome in my home and loved very much! Wow, I am not alone with my habits…buying too many craft supplies, not having the space for any more in my craft room, not using some of my special/unique goodies, etc. So, I am not going to spend so much on craft goodies I do not need!!! I have more than enough, in fact I wish some of you girls would come over to my house and help me use them up and lets play! I could list a dozen things of NOT to do this coming year, but, I think for me is to try and not be so negative about “some” people, but look for the positve and good things in them..Now I tried this last year, and started out very well, but some people seem to like to push my buttons…LOL…..so once again I am going to try real hard this time to accomplish the positive , I am a very positive person and expect that out of everyone, but it doesn’t always happen, …but on a “POSITIVE” side, (see its working), thanks so much for offering a chance at these nesties…..I love your site, so much, that I think I subscribed to it twice, as I get it twice…thats okay with me!!!!! • DebbieDecember 28, 2008 - 2:58 pm

Resolutions are good, they give you a goal, and prove you have the power in you, even if you cant stick to it all year, you usually try to do it for a little bit, which shows you have the will power if you put your mind to it. These holidays my dad visited me, and on several occassions he was telling me how I should do things, like you should eat more fruit (for fibre), Its a women job to be in the kitchen and clean the house (he is very old fashioned), exercise more, get up earlier (4am)..etc, what he said made me feel like I wasn’t good enough.

So I decided my resolution is to try NOT TO SAY THINGS LIKE THAT to my boys (18 & 20). I know we say stuff like that as parents because we care, but somehow it makes the kids feel like they are not smart enough to make good choices for themselves.

Thanks Becca, I enjoyed reading all the other NOT resolutions, Happy New Year to all.

    HI!
A few years ago I decidedto make New Years resolutions that were productive, positive, and uplifting! I resolved NOT to set myself up for failure… for 2008 I resolved to LIVE Philippians 4:8 – what a challenge – but what an awesome God we serve! He has enabled me to achieve this a good part of the time!
This year for 2009 I have resolved to memorize at least one scripture per month! more if possible … but one is achievable! and am making a paper-crafted journal to write them in!
MY resolution NOT to do in 2009 is to not put myself down and to not see myself in a negative light! I am a Princess! of the KING!!!!!
Have a wonderful New Year … i love the Nesties .. I just got my first set last month!!! am grateful for a chance to win a set!
    THANKS for your creativity!!!!!!ReplyCancel

What a great idea, to come up with something NOT to do. At first I came up with many, such as Not drink Pepsi anymore, not to use my credit card anymore, not to eat so much – then thought those aren’t really “real,” and are usually things that I fail at, so I stopped and took some time to think about what I am really NOT going to do this year, and what I am going to try NOT to do anymore this year are:

say No to my 14-year old son about making it to his wrestling matches, or his football or baseball games, or NOT letting his friends spend the night or NOT letting his friends spend the night here or NO you can’t go to the movie on a school night, or NO I don’t have the time to sit down and talk right now, I’m busy making dinner or doing laundry or cleaning. What I AM going to do, is to take the time to pay attention to what is IMPORTANT to him AND to his friends and take the leave and go watch some of his games, and go to the movie with him and his friend when they ask me to, and sit at the dinner table and enjoy listening to him and his friends and what is happening in their lives – after all, that is what is really important.

Thank you Becca for the time to pause on what is really important!

Thank you for your Blog….your inspiration and your generosity in sharing all your ideas and projects. This year I am not going to buy something new until I have used all the things I already have and need to use. It is a shame to have the amount of unused supplies that I have, and to still buy more “stuff”. Winning the Nestabilities would be wonderful (and not a purchase)! Thanks…ReplyCancel

  • PaulaDecember 28, 2008 - 4:50 pm

Love your site Becca. Do enjoy the quick jolts of inspiration. My resolution of what I am NOT going to do this year is I am not going to make myself do the laundry, clean the house, pay the bills, mow/shovel snow, cook, read and answer all my emails, etc before I can do something fun — like work on cards or go to a movie or visit with family and friends or something else I enjoy doing. Although that stuff needs to be done sometime, it can be done tomorrow and today I can enjoy myself without guilt. Life is getting shorter and I want to be remembered for my creativity and not my clean house (not that it is ever that clean anyway).

In 2009, I resolve NOT to diet! I will instead eat when I am hungry…trying to realize that being hungry does not make me lose weight!
And as many others, I resolve not to hoard everything that I own. Embellishments were made to be admired!

When I see something that needs to be done or made or whatever……..I will do it right away & not put it on the back burner like so many other projects that sit unfinished (like my embroidery that needs to be mounted).

Thank you for sharing your faith & your beautiful creations. You are so very talented & I appreciate getting a small glimpse into your world.

Hello. Happy New Year! And thank you for this chance to win some yummy Spellbinders.

One thing I won’t be doing this yer is rushing out to get all the various crafty goodies I just think I must have. I look around at all I DO have and have to give a pause of gratitude, for I have my very own room that I call my studio filled with books, figurines, things I’ve made, and a variety of items for me to make oh so much more with. How fortunate is that? To a girl who grew up on “the wrong side of the tracks”, very poor, sometimes even unsure where her next meal might come from this is…this is unbelievable. I am so very lucky. So I’m going to be more mindful of what I DO have…..and NOT rush out to get those items I don’t have.

    Thank you,

What a wonderful possibility to receive a set of nesties.

Next year, instead of wishing or hoping I plan on do it. Using what I already have in my stash, revisiting my own stamps, punches and templates and by using my newer ink colors, and cardstock to do my best in creating with paper. I do hope to continue to reorganize my craft area so I will have an easier time to find those “special treasures” when I need them to complete a project .

What an amazing blog you have! And what an awesome piece of blog candy. What I’m not going to do this year is to make a resolution I won’t keep. I should just keep striving to be the best me possible. Love the candy that someone will win – very nice.

This year I am not going to mess up on a New Year’s Resolution. For several years I have not made one because I don’t have that much will power.

However, this past few months I have begun exercising and I love it. I have taken a break through the holidays so I could do the extra holiday stuff (unfortunately extra eating) – but I will be back to exercising and staying healthy. The older you get, one must be thankful for being healthy and working to stay that way.

Something good: I am not going to forget to thank God for all my blessings before I go to sleep each night.

Let’s make it real by listing 3 (maybe that way at least one will be accomplished)

Reality – While I have to bring work home with me (it’s the nature of the beast in my job), I’m going to try SO VERY HARD, to leave the emotional frustration in the office AND try not to let it get to me as much as it does.

Crafting – I will not feel like I HAVE to buy something just because I’ve got a great coupon that “needs” to be used. (I’ve got plenty of “those” purchases that already need to be used :-) )

Life in general – I will not overload myself by trying to get everything done – it can and will all wait until another day, and I’ll feel better for not stressing about it.

Wishing everyone a very very Happy New Year.ReplyCancel

It’s interesting to read that so many “crafters” have the same thoughts that I do about impulse buying craft items and their crafting area! This year I plan to use what I have and not let Michaels, Joanns and Hobby Lobby coupons make me think that I must use them to “save” money!!! Also I don’t want to let my work area stay the disaster scene! I also don’t want to wait until a special holiday/birthday is upon me before beginning the creation of cards! Becca, thanks for the suggestion of choosing what I won’t do instead of making resolutions of what I will do!! You’re the greatest.

I am NOT going to try to lose any weight in 2009 and I am NOT going to allow the scary people who keep telling me that I am unhealthy because I am over weight to worry me. I would love to see some of the scrawny scary people keep up with me through just one of my days :) Happy New Year to everyone :)ReplyCancel

Hi, Becca! Love your blog and your work, you are so talented!

I no longer make New Year’s resolutions, but I love your “will not do?” prospective. There are alot for me, but the two big ones are: 1) I will NOT worry about things that haven’t happened yet and things that are out of my control (Let go and let God, right?) and 2) I will NOT let others change me or who I want to be. I will be turning 40 in 2009, it’s time I be me, and only me, for me. I love to take care of others and do for them, but I must stop letting them twist me into some I don’t recognize.

Thanks for the opportunity to win the nesties, I’ve really wanted some for so long! They were on my Christmas wish list, but unfortunately I didn’t get any. Hopefully I can win these! Happy New Year to you, Becca!ReplyCancel

Thanks for a thought-provoking question. I guess the way to phrase it for me is that I am not going to sit back and wait for other people to invite me to their house for fellowship. I am going to take the initiative more often this year and enJOY having people whenever I want a visit with friends.ReplyCancel

  • OdetteDecember 28, 2008 - 9:50 pm

Hello! Love your creations & think you are very generous with your giveaways!
This year I have so many things I am NOT going to do. I am NOT going to let people at work get to me. It’s my job to tell them what to do – if they don’t like it, they will have to deal with it themselves!
I am NOT going to tell anyone (apart from all your readers :) ) that I am doing WW again this year. Yes, again! I will wait for them to tell me I am looking good when they notice – not because they think they should.
I am NOT going to give up M & M’s. That would be the ruin of me!! I know point 2 should rule out point 3 – but I am not going to follow that particular rule!!!

Hope you have a safe & happy new year!

Believe it or not, this year I will not get any more animals. (I hope I don’t have to eat these words). My children talk me into pets, they are so cute, they don’t cause too much trouble, they promise to take care of them…..guess who takes care of them. I’m not having as much fun playing hide and seek with the hamster as I once did and I know I can use the exercise but I make way too many trips around the block with these dogs. So, Mr. Pet Store Owner, don’t encourage us, please, we already live in a zooReplyCancel

Becca, I just wanted to pop over and say “hi”, and I found this post. Well, you’re right, I’ve enjoyed reading the answers. I’ve kept my resolutions in a stamping-related vein this year and, actually, they’re all basically things I will NOT do —

I will not stay up past 11:00 on work nights just to get a blog post done.

I will not let other things which are important to me take a back seat to stamping.

Those are just a couple of the “nots”. Thank you for so generously offering this blog candy to your readers!ReplyCancel

Being a SU demonstrator, I make lots of cards, but I never seem to actually mail them out — pitiful, I know. So my New Year’s Resolution is to send one card each day. Most my family is out of state and I do not get to see them very often. I plan to keep in touch with them by sending them “love notes” on a regular basis. So each week I will send 7 cards; I sure hope I can stick with it! Happy New Year everyone.ReplyCancel

I want to first thank you for the opportunity to win some great blog candy. You are very talented and I look forward to seeing your new creations each day. I get great inspirations from them.
This past year has been a hard one for us since I was laid off work and my husband is disabled. Due to his health issues, I have made a decision (along with the push of our kids) to not go back to work. This will pose many challenges for this coming year. What I will NOT do is to stress and worry about lies ahead but trust in God for He will provide for us and guide us in the direction that we need to go.
Wishing you and everyone a Happy and Healthy New Year.ReplyCancel

One thing I am not going to do is stop making Christmas cards this year. I hope to keep making them all year, then I will have enough to sell at a craft show. Another thing I am not going to do or try hard not to do is clutter the dinning room table with all my craft/card stuff. For months on end we can not eat at that table as my stuff and projects are spread all over it. Another thing I am not going to do next year is buy the newest craft itme because it is the newest thing. I am going to be conservative with my crafting budget and buy only what I need not what I want.ReplyCancel

New Year’s resolutions haven’t worked for me before, so maybe using a little reverse psychology will get it all done right!!! :)

I’m going to make myself sit down and use what I have in front of me instead of always trying new things. New techniques are wonderful but I end up not producing any cards. So the deal I’ve made is that I can’t do anything new until I’ve made half a dozen cards from start to finish with what I have within arm’s reach on my desk.

I want to thank you for your q&a section. I think it’s a real gem to show people that you don’t need to have access to high end stores to make beautiful cards. I won’t be taking my parents health for granted this year! My Mom had a stroke Dec. 16th, and by the grace of our Father, we were able to get her to the hospital in the 3 hour window for stroke patients. She got the shot and praise the Lord, she has NO remaining symptoms of the stroke, other than being a little weak from being on the respirator for 3 days and lying in a hospital bed for 10 days. Daddy is in great health, but is 85 and mostly blind. God is so gracious to take care of us. And since I’m the primary care giver, I won’t be taking my health for granted, either! I resolve to not try to control my childrens lives and not to but into my grandchildrens lives. You see I find myself always putting my two cents in when it comes to my children and grandchildren.
I cry when people point out how handicapped I am and vow to let the remarks go and pray for God to give them understanding and compassion.

If I don’t “try” so hard, and just start cutting back on the bad things for me, but still keep it in moderation, then I should be able to take off the pounds; but if I don’t, then I’ll be happy with the way the Lord made me. Another opportunity to win something from you but what’s more interesting is this question…..’what I’m NOT going to do in 2009′. I’ve never thought much about this tho in the back of my mind the thought was there and I loathe the subject…..losing weight. HA! Okay, so I’m a bit healthy and definitely not anorexic and everything seems to be functioning well. So I’m NOT going to stop eating to loose weight deliberately. I’ll ‘modify’ my consumption and move some limbs a bit more often and train my left hand to do more stamping to even out the workout. Check back with me at the end of 2009 for a before and after comparison.ReplyCancel

This year I am not going to buy paper at the half off sales or because it is pretty. I have purchased far too many paper sets that I end up using only one piece of the pack. Instead I am going to buy paper for projects as I need it instead of just because it is on sale or pretty.ReplyCancel

Happy New Year to you, Becca!!

I resolve NOT to leave clothes on the guest bed (my closet is in there) overnight — I tend to get quite a pile before they find their way back to the closet. I think this resolution will make my DH quite happy, as he is the Felix and I am the Oscar!! LOLReplyCancel

I will actually “not” be making a resolution this year. I want to work on just enjoying my life with my family and living each moment to it’s fullest. Befoe I know it, my children will be grown up and gone. Thank you to God for giving me such blessings.ReplyCancel

Tough question. I’m not going to but stamping supplies on a whim. I plan to spend more wisely and to use or give away what I myself don’t see myself using. Thanks for the opportunity.ReplyCancel

  • TracyDecember 29, 2008 - 2:39 pm

What a great question! I think next year I am not going to:

1- Go overboard on craft spending. Need to focus on using what I have more!
2- Wait forever to send out cards. I should send them as I make them.
3- Get discouraged with exercising and working out. I need to find a routine I like and stick with it.
4- Take my husband and family for granted.

    Thanks for the wonderful chance!ReplyCancel

  • Kris TurnerDecember 29, 2008 - 2:55 pm

Hi, Becca: Happy, blessed New Year to you! I am NOT going to worry so much about my single-mom daughter and her children; my clients (I am the director (unpaid) of a nonprofit financial assistance organization providing assistance to over 900 households and, unfortunately, counting), what a wreck my house is in because I am so busy with the last item, my weight (never works anyway LOL) – ALL of these are in God’s hands and we “gain nothing by worrying,”, but gain everything by faithfully following Him. Wow, easier to say what we’re NOT going to resolve to do rather than what we are! So neat to know that God knows what’s best for us, isn’t it?! Thanks for the blog candy opportunity! Kris, Wadsworth, OHReplyCancel

  • NANCY RILEYDecember 29, 2008 - 3:04 pm

That’s some awesome blog candy, Becca! Can you believe that I don’t own ANY of these? Feel sorry for me? LOL!

I am really looking forward to 2009. 2008 is going down into the family record books as a year that we all want to forget. Although 2009 will probably hold it’s own challenges for our family, I am NOT going to let the stress of it all take over, physically or emotionally. I’ve got to remember that God is in charge!ReplyCancel

Thank you for your wonderful blog and for your beautiful creations. You are such an inspiration to me. It is so interesting that you can be an inspiration to people that you do not even know. This New Year I would like to start a blog so that I can inspire others just as many have inspired me. I just don’t know how to get started. All I know is that I would like to touch others in a way that I have been touched by others artists. Hopefully, i can figure out how to get started. Any help would be appreciated by anyone!ReplyCancel

  • Joan SwitalskiDecember 29, 2008 - 3:55 pm

I am really serious about this one. I won’t buy any craft/scrapbooking/stamping related items next year from January till November and that includes online purchases. The only exception is cardstock and adhesive because I always run out of them. I made my husband promise to keep me away from all those craft stores, even if I insist and bawl my heart out. The reason for this is that I want to focus on creating, not buying and hoarding. I want to use all the stuff that I have already on hand. So, that means I officially have 3 days left to buy whatever it is I need (or maybe want?) to buy. And when the clock strikes 12 on January 1st…. *crossing my fingers and toes!*

    :DReplyCancel

Hello Becca, This year I am not going to worry so much about everything and everyone. I’ve done that all of my life and it’s taken it’s toll on my body and health. A few weeks ago I suffered a stroke, not the regular kind of stroke mind you, it was caused from a migraine headache! (migraines constrict the blood vessels, and this one constricted tight enough and long enough to cause a stroke) Anyway all caused by stress and worry. I’m working on it now and will continue to the rest of my life. I’m sooooo worried about it….just joking I’ve put it in God’s hands and what ever happens is his will. Thanks for sharing your awsome talent. gReplyCancel

Hi Becca, Thank you so much for sharing your beautiful cards with everyone. And for the chance to win some great blog candy. This year I am going to try NOT to let my Mom’s scrapbooking projects sit around my house gathering dust. I volunteered a year and a half ago to do these for her grandchildren (7), including my daughter, as she just wasnt sure how to do them. I love scrapbooking so I said hey I will help. I brought them home but didnt start right away. Then I had 4 hospital stays and 3 surgeries this past year. You would have thought I would have had the time since I didnt work during those recoveries, right? But this year God will be in control way more than me and we will get them started as soon as Christmas decorations go back in the attic. Sorry so chatty but thank you again. God Bless You & Happy New Year!!ReplyCancel

I hope you had a wonderful Christmas Becca and that God will bless you in the New Year!! This year I want to take life as it comes and enjoy all of the many blessings God has given me. There are so many people out there who are suffering with illness, loneliness, etc. This year I do not want to focus on what I don’t have or what I wish I had or looked like. I will not focus on what I don’t have but thank God for each day and each blessing he has bestowed upon me. I will not put things or tasks that need to be done before my children, family or friends. I pray that I can be a blessing to others.ReplyCancel

Hey Becca, what is on you list of not to do for 2009? I would love to know.

For 2009, I will make less lists of things to do and perhaps finish one of them. I will not make lists of thing that I cannot achieve in a week, let alone a day. My New Year’s Day to do list will look something like this:

    Wake up late
Drink Coffee (An every day miracle is when I do not have to make it)
    Watch TV-no particular time
Call family to wish them a Happy New Year
    Eat
    Eat more
    Eat again
Go to the beach and commune with God
    Sleep

This will be a year of accomplishments, no matter how small, to be celebrated.ReplyCancel

Wow, what great blog candy. Thank you for the opportunity. Also I wanted to wish you a very happy, healthy & creative New Year. You always inspire and may you continue to do so.

Hmm, what will I not do. I could probably write a book on what I would like to stop doing (don’t worry I won’t write it here lol). I’ve nodded knowingly at many of the comments.

I think THE most important one is: I will not take my family and friends for granted. I will not hesitate to let them know how I feel about them.

I will not allow negativity to creep into my subconcious dialog.

and I will not allow procrastination to dictate my life.

    Happy New Year, Becca!

I echo many of the gals when I say your work is some of the most beautiful I’ve seen and has inspired me to take mine to a whole new level.

In the new year, I am not going to walk in Christ alone; meaning, I have asked another pastor’s wife to be my accountablility partner. Too often, we (PWs) feel we have to always have it “together” and don’t feel we have anyone other than our husbands to confide in. No more! I now have someone in my life to ask me the hard questions that I feel I can truly confide in. So if I don’t win the nestabilities, I’m already a winner!ReplyCancel

Becca, you have blessed the lives of many people this past year. Thank you for being you, and answering God’s call in your heart to share with us though your wonderful blog. You inspire so much more than creativity! Now then — hard as this is going to be, I will no longer enable my 27 year old son (financially or otherwise) who has fallen into a wayward lifestyle. I will seek God’s wisdom and remain in a spirit of prayer for him and our family, but I will not let it eat me alive. I will let go, and let God. And I will not give up, even when I want to. It’s a tall order — this NOT doing something! But thank you for challenging me and giving everyone the opportunity! Happy New Year my friend!ReplyCancel

Your work is wonderful. The one thing Iam not going to do next year,( with Gods help) is leave the paper work and filing so long. I work at home for my husband, it is very easy to get distracted with my card making, especialy since I just started this year.

Thanks for your wonderful blog and, now, the chance for blog candy!!! This year I will try NOT to procrastinate on sending out my cards. Every cards does NOT have to be perfect, with 4 layers, ribbons, and another embellishment. People appreciate the thought and I must not let the “it’s all about my wonderful card-making ability” get in the way of the true reason for sending the card.

Thanks for all of your inspiration and I wish you and yours a blessed, healthy New Year!

Hello Becca. This year I’m not going to make any resolutions. I’m too old and have learned I don’t keep them anyway! All I do is make myself miserible ( I don’t think that’s spelled right) because I didn’t keep them. I love the nessties that I have and these would be a good addition to my collection. Love your work. I’m striving to become as creative as you. I really like your use of ribbon. Have a good new year!ReplyCancel

Merry Christmas and Happy New Year Becca! What a true blessing and inspiration you have been this year. Your blog is always the first one I go to to check out the latest techniques, stamps and your show of talent.

What am I NOT going to do this year? Take my job for granted and not be spontaneous in buying the “newest must have” craft items unless I really need it for a certain project or gift for a family member or friend.

With the Lord’s help I WANT to lead my sister Beth to Jesus Christ and help her free herself of the alcohol that she uses as a crutch to forget a mistake she made 28 years ago and to let her know that our Almighty Lord loves her and forgives her for it and that she one day will see that precious angel in heaven.ReplyCancel

    Happy New Year Becca!
My first News Years wish that I AM wishing for is that you’ll continue to inspire us in 2009!

what I’m not going to do this upcoming year is hold on to my older crafting products. I decided this year that instead of trying to sell them all or just hoard them, I’m going to find a local women’s shelter and offer to donate them along with teaching a few classes on cards and scrapbooking. I know that by doing this, I’ll be blessed more then I would be by holding on to everything!

    Hi Becca!
Thanks so much for the chance to win these awesome nesties! You have such a wonderful blog and I love all your projects so much… and I love that we are sisters in Christ!

What I’m going to try NOT to do this year is be so perfectionistic about my house to where I “can’t” have friends over unless it’s all perfect… I want to focus on my relationships with all the dear people in my life and not be so overwhelmed by all the work that “should be done”! The older I get the more I realize that the house is never going to be perfect… but since some of my friends are now going through terminal illnesses…. that seems so petty! I want to be known for my relationships… not my impeccably neat house!!! Put another way… I want to be a Mary, not a Martha… even though both are vital! Hope that makes sense! LOL!

Happy and blessed New Year to you and yours!ReplyCancel

I normally start every year by saying I will lose weight. Well I did it this past year and finally realized that I can do anything I set my mind too. Since I will be 50 in 2009 I feel that I its time to be grateful for all the blessings I have been given for the first 50 years of my life.

In 2009 I will do everything possible to NOT regret the things I don’t have or the things that I didn’t do or could have done better. Things are what they are and my life would not be what it is without everything that has happened to me.ReplyCancel

  • Linda CrowderDecember 31, 2008 - 7:19 am

I definitely won’t be living where I am rooming right now. I have the hardest time with tranportation. Due to my recent and lengthy illness, I lost my home and car, and even my husband (he died suddenly from cancer in Dec 06) so I have to rent a room in a person’s home. Well I had a great place with my best friend and her mom, we were like the Golden Girls, everyone looked out for the other. Worked great, but Mom got ALzheimer’s and long story short, had to put her into a home. As I write this now, they put her onto a ventilator and it won’t be maybe 24 more hours. It is so sad and my friend and I are heartbroken. She lived with her mom for 56 years, never cut the cord, so to speak. I love her too as she is just a wonderful little lady. So next year, I hope I can find an apartment to share with my friend again. We had to move apart temporarily because of finances. It is always that, isn’t it? But medical bills are hard on fixed incomes. But she moved with family, and me with some people I didn’t now. I like the area but with it being in the boonies, and I mean boonies, there is no community bus service but once a week. If Imiss or forget to schedule, I am stuck and without whatever for 6 more days. I have no other way to travel and it is very difficult to sit inside a 12×15 room. Thank GOd for papercrafting and my internet friends. I love your blog and you are so generous with the candy. But that isn’t why I love your blog, it is the general atmosphere I find here. Your designs are lovely and you genuinely love your fans! I have a little blog to hopefully help someone like myself: I was told I would die, I made peace, closed doors, said goodby and waited (so to speak) Finally I grew better and then I have to start over. But with that type of finality, it is worse than being born… So I have my faith to guide me and I’ve made many wonderful friends though my blog, so if you know anyone who needs a friend, give them my blogsite. Thanks, Linda Crowder A Stroke Above http:astrokeabove.blogspot.com/ReplyCancel

Thank you so much for such a wonderful blog. Thank you for sharing tips and techniques and the inspiration. I will not make a resolution to lose weight, just eat healthy and exercise more. The weight loss will be the bonus.

    Hi Becca,

Like everyone else I have soooo much in my craft room I really need to NOT be buying a lot of new without using some of the old. I also have A LOT of stamps that need to see some ink plus I need to NOT be so negligent with my blog and keep it up to date better.

I lost my mother about a year and a half ago – she was my best friend, my mentor, and my everything. I have grieved for her ever since she left us and I need to get past this and need to NOT grieve for her any longer.

Your site is SUCH AN INSPIRATION to me I have NOT found another that even comes close to your wonderful cards. No one even compares. Someday I hope that I can create cards as beautiful as you, maybe even just close to your beautiful cards.

Thanks for the chance to win the Nesties, they would be a wonderful addition to my collection. Can’t wait to see the NEW ONES you are going to unveil!!!!!!!!!!! Happy Holidays and may you and your family have a Happy and Blessed New Year!!!!!!!!!!!

Hi Becca and thanks so much for the opportunity to win such a nice item! For the new year I will try not to worry about the things that I have no control over and cannot change but rather concentrate on the things I can change and the good I can bring into my own life and the lives of others. As we age, time goes by more quickly and it is truly a waste of precious time to worry. Happy New Year!ReplyCancel

    Hi Becca,

Thanks so much for all that you put into your projects. I just love them. This year I am going to do things that I don’t want to. I am not going to say ‘Yes” to everything and feel the stress that comes with being over-committed. I am headed to a New’s Eve party that I should have said NO. I just want to spend a quiet evening at home reflecting and working on my vision board for 2009.

Peace and Blessings to you and your family!

Happy New Year…..I am excited to be here for the first time, and also to see you are giving out such wonderful blg candy. How very generous of you…..wow….it is such a wonderful gift someone is going to be a very happy person starting off their New Year right.

One thing I am not going to do this year is put on any of the weight I have successfully taken off. With more to go I don’t want to put any on so I have to re-take it off. I am also not going to let my clutter overwhelm me any more. I am going to take control of it and show it who is boss (heehee).

    Hi Becca…

Happy New Year and thanks for the chance to win blog candy.

I normally don’t make resolutions because it is just another way to put too much pressure on ME. However, I have been writing down a few things this year.

Both of my parents went into facilities in the last 18 months. My Dad is in an Alzheimer’s secured facility and my Mom is in Assisted Living but suffering from the early stages of dimentia. In 2009 I’m going to try to not take on so much guilt over this and stop beating myself up inside over these things that I have no control over!

Blessings to all the caregivers out there who know exactly where I’m coming from.

I just recently found your blog and what a great find it is! What am I not going to do? I am not going to follow this year. I am going to take back some of the control in my life-especially at work and play. If coworkers are not going to do their work, I am not going to let them off the hook and take my time to do their work to keep the process going forward. They own it, not me. I am not a Martyr anymore. My friend Sheila and I made a pack to make this happen. In 2009 I will not give up classes at my LSS to do work things. Thanks for hosting this positive move forward.ReplyCancel

    Good morning Becca.

First of all thank you so much for who you are and what you represent. I love going to your blog daily, seeing your smiling face and putting that right out there ~~ you are a child of God. What an inspiration, right from the get go!.

I have gotten into the card making and papercrafting over the last 6 months. I thoroughly enjoy it immensely. I do it for me but more for others ~ to make them feel special and cared about. So my resolution is to NOT put off doing. I mean even the small things, like a card or even communication in any and all relationships I have, with spouse, friends, work, etc. I want to be a DOER and not a procrastinator.

Back to the papercrafting, I have a lot of tools at my disposable, however, at this point I do not have any Nesties. I continue to look at then and say “next time”. Thanks for the opportunity to win a set!

Your blog is fantastic and I am very excited and looking forward to what is in store for 2009! Thank you very much for your blog, it is total inspiration for me.ReplyCancel

Thanks for this great NEW YEARS question that has made so many think and self-search deeply …. I loved reading all prior posts to this and now have mine to add:

This Year, I will NOT procrastinate. I will make unrealistic New Year resolutions. I will NOT take time away from my family and my children to go make cards. I will NOT forget my family’s and, or, my friend’s most special days. I will NOT say I will do something then NOT find the time to do it. I will NOT allow my life to become “routine”. I will NOT forget to thank GOD for my every blessing.

Wow ~ lots of fantastic reading here. I have to agree with the not hoarding crafting items, not sweating the small stuff, not buying items that I don’t need, etc…. Like many have already said, I generally don’t make resolutions. But this year my family has resolved to make a bigger effort to bless others. So we are praying daily for our heart and minds to be in tune to what we can do. It doesn’t have to be giving money or gifts. Many people just need a kind word, smile or an ear to listen. :-) Blessings to you and yours.ReplyCancel

WOW! What a great question. For this coming year, I am not going to take God’s gifts for granted. Too often I think that I ‘deserve’ this or that. Not true. I am blessed to be given whatever God sees fit that I have and should be appreciative of his blessings. Second, I am not going to be too busy to spend time in His Word. If I can fit in time playing video games, crafting, reading novels, etc then my first priority should be growing closer to God through time with His Word. So, thanks for the opportunity to share these goals and also for the chance to win. Thanks much and many blessings for a wonderful new year. Tracy in Michigan, crazyforsu@aol.comReplyCancel

O & I must say you were so right about sitting & reading everyone’s responses. I even got a little teary eyed reading some of them.

As an Army wife with my hubby Deployed ONCE again to Iraq,

-I will try NOT to doubt my husbands love from a far.

-I will try my best to stay off the computer as well to spend more time crafting & listening to my kids.

    – I will try not to worry so much about what life has in store for me & rather trust that GOD will keep my life stable & happy.

    – I will NOT just let all these SUPPLIES sit here never to be used, instead embrace all the ideas & awesome techniques I have seen & use it to help me create my own master pieces ! =)

-I will not let myself get disorganized, WOW that’s a big one !! LOL

    – I will TRY MY VERY BEST to NOT MISMANAGE my time & make the event/appt/outing my priority before other things.

I am sure there is more but haven’t thought that far, LOL.

    Hi Becca,

Now I know the fever is gone. The first couple of times I read the “not” idea I couldn’t figure out what it meant. Silly me never thought to read others examples for enlightenment. Today however I finally get it so all must be well – lol! Kind of like Lent only now we’re suposed to do instead of not do so why not have Not resolutions instead of Do resolutions for New Years! Now the World can truly spin on it’s head and I will “not” take it so personally and feel I have to fix it single handed!

Lots of wonderful comments to be bookmarked and enjoyed with leisure and as you suggested a cuppa (now if I only new how to make a brioche to go with it!

Seriously though I decided a few days ago that I was NOT going to remake myself into the image others think I should be just to be liked more. That road leads to madness like walking through a fun house of mirrors or split personalities. Instead I’m going to work on letting the real ‘inner’ me that God created find a chance to see the sunshine. And I will ‘not’ feel guilty about the process.

Thanks Becca for being a shining beacon of God’s Light in the Stamping world and sharing with a glad heart. You always get me thinking and this year I also hope that leads to more inking!

Now please please random.org pick me so I can start my collection of much longed for Nestie’s……..And thanks for sharing such fantabulous blog candy with your many fans and admirers. – Jean

I wish I had others to get together with so we could insprire each other. I guess that is why I check out and enjoy so many great blogs. The thing I am NOT going to do this year (Lord willing and the creek don’t rise) is let my bible readings and study go by the way side, I think at all times , (but especially now-a-days) one needs grounded and rooted on the “rock”.

Becca: It was a blessing to run into your site this evening. I’m relatively new to the “big” world of card making. I just ordered my first set of Spellbinders (Classic Oval). I never knew they had so many uses. I’m excited about the possibilities. It would be great to win an additional set. You are a gifted card artist. Your work is both inspiring and beautiful.

The one thing I promise not to do in 2009 is say, “I don’t have enough time.”

    God Bless!ReplyCancel

  • Norma TrevelyanJanuary 1, 2009 - 10:25 pm

Becca, this is so nice of you giving everyone a chance to win these dies, but, more important is the opportunity to think about our lifestyles and make changes that will enhance our futures.
I recently moved to another city to take care of my ailing father(88 yrs young). I have spent lots of time recently listening to him talk about kindness, caring and love for those less fortunate than ourselves. We are not well off ourselves, but, listening to him makes me realize that we really have so much more than a lot of people in this world. What I will not do in 2009 is forget that and to do what I can for people less fortunate than myself.
    God Bless!ReplyCancel

Just found your site and am blown away! Your things are absolutely gorgeous! I love how you use the Spellbinder dies so well… I am still learning that. And your workmanship is truly amazing. You are an inspiration to us all. Definitely will be checking this blog out on a regular basis!ReplyCancel

I don’t usually make a New Year’s Resolution, because I never keep them, however this year I am not going to let my check book go unbalanced for 4 months at a time. I absolutely hate balancing it. I don’ t know why. LOLReplyCancel

  • BrendaJanuary 2, 2009 - 12:54 am

This was easy for me. Actually, I started before New Years, but I’m determined to carry it through 2009. My main effort is trying to NOT take myself, or others, so seriously. Several events in the past few months have really hit home for me the truth that life is short. We get ONE shot, and it better be a good one! We spend so much time and energy worrying about the trivial, and not nearly enough time invested in what is truly important. Our loved ones, our relationships, the priceless stuff that money can’t buy…THAT’s what’s important. And that’s where I’m choosing to put my energies in this brand new shiny year.

Thanks for continuing to share your lovely work with us, and for the chance to win some goodies as well. Happy New Year!ReplyCancel

Wow you were right there are some great posts! My resolutions are to get healthy – I already started the process, but it’s time to kick it in high gear. I also am going to find a church to attend, get published, and get my studio finished in the basement. I hope it’s not too much to take on, but I have a whole year to do it. I also want to become a better blogger and post more than once a week. Thanks for the chance at some candy – I just ordered my first set of Nesties – the circles (that was a tough decision). HUGS! And thanks for all the inspriation you give me everyday – both creatively and spiritually.ReplyCancel

Thanks Becca for the chance… I want those really bad.
As far as my resolutions, theres so much I want to do,. and dont do.
I still havent figured out whats going to be the most important.
So, maybe thats my resolution… Prioritize. Let GO of the things that are hurting me, my walk with God, my kids. With an impending divorce, I need to forgive as well, to be free from those chains.

I love nestabilities! I hope whoever wins them is not just a collector!

The major thing I cannot do this year is sleep all the time. Due to my health, I have to lose 100 pounds and exercise or I wiill die soon of congestive heart failure. It’s funny but when someone tells me that I HAVE to do something I do just the opposite. This time I have a team of 4 medical/psychological people in my corner that I see over the month to get me on the path I need to be on. It hasn’t helped so far but I went away to Vegas then Christmas then daugther and granddaughter came till NYeve. I am just starting now. If you can find it in your hearts, please pray for me. I need tp get up out of bed and make meals and get to rehab to exercise.

I think it helps telling people what you are not goimg to do! This is a great idea.ReplyCancel

  • Kim PJanuary 2, 2009 - 8:10 am

    Hi Becca,
I don’t usually make New Year’s resolutions because I don’t do well on keeping them! I have noticed this past year that I am speaking negatively more often than I’d like. I think I need to remember that God is the giver of all things, that He is sovereign, and “count my blessings” more than murmur and complain (even in my thoughts). So, I want to be a better witness of His love for me (and others, too). Thank you for the website, I just found it a few weeks ago, but have been enjoying your creativity.ReplyCancel

O.K. I know I have missed the candy, but did I need it – probably not!

There are some great entries above, and many of the not to do’s could apply to me, like not buying paper in the half price sale (and not buying two bargain packs of paper, in case they are different).

I want to use all of the rubber and clear stamps I have bought, and that is a lot.

Not to buy any more rubber stamps, apart from those on the way (this could be a hard one).

To give away some blog candy to ease up the space a little and see the rug underneath that which I cannot put away for lack of space.

To spend less time online, and more time crafting – another difficult one with so many friends to catch up with.

To try and exercise more as my health improves (hopefully) to allow it and thereby lose some weight. That would be a great blessing as it is my son’s wedding in July.

Happy New Year one and all.ReplyCancel

Have you asked me a question that was never answered?  I cringe because I’m a bad blogger and I know there are many of you that I haven’t gotten back to.  I am so sorry . . .

I have to confess that I am way, way behind on answering emailed questions, so far behind in fact that I wouldn’t know where to begin to get caught up.  All comments left generate an email to me and sometimes people slip a burning question in with their kind comments.  So what happens is those questions that are slipped into comments sink into oblivion if I’m busy working on something and can’t stop.  When I go back to try to find them, it’s like looking for a needle in a haystack.

I’m happy to say that I have a solution, so keep sending me the questions!!

I have a new page on my blog called Questions and Answers (how original!!)  That page has the Top 10 Most Frequently Asked Questions that I get and their answers as well as recent questions posed by readers.  In addition, there’s now a form where you can submit a question!!  Providing it’s not a duplicate, incomplete or inappropriate, those submissions may become a part of the Questions and Answers section where everyone else can see them and benefit from the answers.   Here’s the best part – every time a question is entered from the form on the Questions and Answers page, it is queued in my blogging software where I can see them at a glance instead of getting lost in my email.   You get an email acknowledging the question you asked, and when I answer it you get another email stating the answer, specifying if your answer will be published on the Questions and Answers page and if so outlining where you will find it!!

So, if there was something in particular you wanted to know about an card or post, and did not receive an answer, I’d encourage you to hop over to the Questions and Answers page and give me another shot at answering it.  I would ask that you be as specific as you can in  your questions; in fact, if you can give me the title of the post, it will help me zero right in to the item you are questioning.

How do you know how far from the edge to begin the punch? I love the effect. In fact I went by our local individually owned scrappin’ store and introduced the owner, Kim, to your website! She was absolutely amazed!!! As to your ribbons, I haven’t found them at our Michaels but I do visit the $1 bin regularly!!! Thanks for sharing your talent with all of us. I have been following the spellbinders previews and they have been so fun. I promise you I do believe that I enjoyed yours above all the rest. I’m sure you hear that all the time. The question that I have is about the card, Life is in bloom, that was on the spellbinders website. On your post of February 6/08, where you did the tutorial for the frilly flowers, I’d like to see if you have a tip about making sure that your punch is an even distance from the inner edge of the circle? You said on today’s post:

I stamp my acetate images twice and mount them together. Therefore if the ink on your image is uneven, it won’t be apparent when you combine the two images.

My question is how do you attach the two acetate images together?

Well today is another Flourishes Friday as well as another one of those banner shopping days as bargain hunters scurry out to snap up bargains to brag about for the New Year.  Well before you get away, I wanted to share with you the card I made for a secret swap amongst all the Flourishes Design Team and Friends of Flourishes.  I’ve had a secret to keep and now I can reveal to my swap recipient that I mailed my card off to was Sharon Doolittle!!  I was trying to be a little bit sneaky and change up my style a little bit.  On this card I relied on the design paper a little bit more than I normally do, but the velvet ribbon and layers might have been a dead giveaway ‘snort’!

Of course I had to decorate the inside and it almost killed me not to write anything inside!

Below is the card that I received in the swap.  I was doing a little happy dance at the mailbox when I saw who the card was from (he – he) my swapper wrote a note fully disclosing her identity – her postmark gave it away too.  If you haven’t guessed yet, it was none other than Julie Koerber!   Want to see all the cards?  Jump over HERE to the Flourishes Newsletter and you can see everyone that particpated.

Well, you all got a little bit of a rest over the Christmas break and we’re ready to get back into the challenge mode, so keep on reading about the next stage of the Festive Flourishes Challenge!

We’ve hit the end of the road for the Festive Flourishes Friday and this one is New To YOU!  Help us usher in the new year with either a card to celebrate 2009 or celebrate something new that you just got your hands on!  If you use new goodies, be sure to tell us which product/tool you used for your creation. Link your card HERE or upload your card to SCS using the keyword FFFC4.  Of course, we’d love it if you added the FLLC keyword too so that your work will show up in the SCS Flourishes gallery!   Remember, you can join our challenge at any time and, if you make up past challenges and complete all four – your name will be thrown into the hat for a free stamp set of your choice!  Next week the Friends of Flourishes team will reveal their New To You cards and we’ll also pick the winner of our drawing. So get those entries in before Thursday at 11:59 PM! Thanks for playing and… HAPPY NEW YEAR!

Beautiful card Becca…as usual. ;) Could you please let me know what you used to create the rectangular frame with the punched corners? Looks like the rectangle Nestie with the oval inside, but I can’t quite figure out how you achieved the corner-punched edges WITH the embossing…share?? Thanks!ReplyCancel

I have been peaking at your work for awhile now. I am amazed at the absolutely stunning and creative cards you create. I was a SU demo until I had a great personal crisis in our family, but still stamp and want to share it with friends again. When people think rubber stamps, the card at the top of this blog would certainly not be the first thing that comes to mind–it is waaayyy tooooo beautiful. Thank you for sharing your gorgeous work and uplifting spiritual messages. Even the name ‘Amazing Paper Grace’ is a true reflection of your creativity. Simply beautiful. I wish you lived nearby, I could see us being stamping buddies and chatting. God’s blessings in the new year to you, your family and friends.
    Stay well,
