I’m back to share another "occasion" card, a boost to my shrinking stash.  This one, a wedding card, was created using JustRite Fonts.  I’m in heaven with the fonts because you can be the master of your own text.  I have a quotes journal and I like that when I want to use those quotes for a card, I can now using which ever JustRite Font suits my fancy.

The quote I selected was "Now join hands and with your hands your hearts. –William Shakespeare.

To set up the card I used the following packages:

I built my card from the bottom up and when it came time for the sentiment I used the Justrite 2 1/4 x 3 1/16 mount and the Brayton 50 point font.

Once stamped, I cut the sentiment out with a Spellbinders Classic Ovals Large.  The sentiment was layered on a Spellbinders Classic Scalloped Ovals Large and a Spellbinders Labels Large.  A smaller scalloped oval was added.  The last oval was stamped with one of the round elements from the Justrite Wedding Stamp Ensemble then cut out with Spellbinders Scallop Ovals Large.

Card Recipe:
Stamps:  Justrite Wedding Stamp Ensemble, JustRite Brayton Front
Paper:  The Paper Company – Blonde Columns, Marcella Kay
Ink:  Momento Paris Dusk
Accessories:  JustRite 2 1/4" x 3 7/16" stamper, Spellbinders Classic Ovals Large, Spellbinders Classic Scallops Spellbinders Labels Large, lace, Ribbon, Pearls

Then last but certainly not least – especially for those of you who read down this far – there’s new Blog Candy!

To enter the blog candy all you need to do is leave a comment on this post.  The blog candy consists of two pads of Memory Box paper, assorted unmounted Hampton Arts stamps, Autumn Leaves fonts, K & Company clear stamps and from JustRite a Harmony Classic Circle Stamper III Stamp Ensemble.  Who knows when it will end, but when it does, I’ll pick a winner by random.org and the winner has 48 hours to contact me through my contact page.   Feel free to enter every day that the candy remains up.

Thanks for stopping by.

Becca, I just love your blog. I NEVER miss your updates. I was introduced to your blog from a friend. She saw one of your cards online and thought it was my card being posted (turns out you and I have a very similar card-making style). Wow! Your card was so close to something I had made but not exact. I thought we must be twins separated at birth somehow….haha. Anyway, LOVE your blog. Thanks for sharing your time and your talents with us. Great tutorials. It is very much appreciated. I have to say that you do have a better knack with the bow tying though. If you haven’t already, maybe you could post a step by step of how you make those awesome bows lay just rite. I can never remember the “bunny ear” poem for tying. I can get my bows to cooperate with a tiny dot of hot glue hidden but I’d like to make the bows without using the hotglue if possible.

    Thanks again Becca!ReplyCancel

    Becca –

I love your use of the ribbon on your cards. I always go to Michaels and look at them, then get confused by all the different ribbons and end up coming home with nothing. I thought I might try just buying some white satin ribbon, but not sure of what size to get (see what I mean – I think too much – LOL). Which is your favorite type of ribbon to use and what’s good to start off with (to start a stash)?

Love this card – but then, I love all your work, so elegant.

    Thanks

For little girls . . .

 For little boys . . .

Guess who’s adding baby cards to her stash?  Pretty shocking, but I’ve never made and sent a baby card.  It’s one of those things that always catches me off guard and then I go buy one.   Not now!  These were so fun to create and so, so easy.

After making the card, I made a tag to go along with the card.  The tag, which is shaped like a baby bottle, is double-sided so an additional sentiment or handwritten message can go on the back.

Baby Ensemble Supply List
JustRite Classic Oval Stamper II Spellbinders Labels 1
JustRite Baby Stamp Ensemble Spellbinders Classic Ovals Large
JustRite Vertical Stamper Set Spellbinders Classic Ovals Small
JustRite Trompe Script Lowercase Font Spellbinders Nested Birds
JustRite Brayton Uppercase Font Spellbinders Classic Scalloped Square Large
Colorbox Chalk – Rouge Ink Spellbinders Symbology
Versacolor Raspberry Ink Fiskars Border Punch – Apron Lace
Adirondack Denim Ink Martha Stewart Heart Border Punch
SU Brocade Blue Dye Based Ink Heart Punch
Dena’s Closet Paper Collection Pearls
Strathmore 140lb Watercolor Paper Ribbon

For the cards I layered the base with staggered sizes of paper and sandwiched the Apron Lace punched border between the last two layers.  I find it easier to stamp my elements before I cut them, so I stamped one sentiment center from the JustRite Baby Stamp Set – in my pictures you will see mine are trimmed – that’s just my OCD at work.  These are normally oval shaped but the trimming doesn’t affect how they interlock with my stamp mount whatsoever.  Then I stamped  the oval framed stamp border from the JustRite Baby Stamp Set.

I tied on my ribbon then assembled the main focal elements by cutting two Spellbinders Labels One dies at the same time to make my frame.  (Many have asked how you do this – if you are using a Wizard, the newer version comes with a magnetic spacer plate.  Once you place your dies on the magnetic plate they won’t move – you are then free to run them through the die cut machine and by cutting both at once they create a frame. Check out THIS post if you want to see my step by step pictures where I have done this on another card.)  Inside the Labels One frame I placed a stamped oval that I cut with Spellbinders Classic Ovals Small.  Popped up over those layers I placed a stamped oval frame which I cut with the appropriate sized Spellbinders Classic Ovals Large and Spellbinders Classic Ovals Small, at the same time.

To finish I added the tiniest of the Spellbinders Nested Birds and used one of the elements of the Spellbinders Symbology set to make a "branch" and finally pearls.

For the tags, using the new JustRite Vertical Stampers made stamping out the tags a breeze.  I paired with the new lower case JustRite Trompe Script Font with my favorite JustRite Brayton Font  to get proper casing on the words.  The best thing about the new Trompe Script Font is that there are a gazzillion letters in the set.  On the tags I had every letter needed so that I could do just one stamping of the tag.   The picture below shows how the stamped part of the tag was set up using a Stampmajig to nail the placements.

The stamped panel is layered onto a panel punched with the Fiskars Apron Lace Border Punch.  I then topped it off with a Spellbinders Classic Scalloped Square Large die cut that I cut in half, punched with a Martha Stewart Hearts border punch then trimmed to fit in hopes it would look vaguely like a bottle.  The other half of the Scalloped Square was used on the back side to make for a double sided tag.

The ensemble was a pleasure to create and hopefully I’ll keep my stash stocked with baby items so that I can celebrate by sending a hand stamped card.  Just a note, as you read through my rather long post, I try as hard as I can to be as verbose as possible by typing out full vendor names and giving you links to many of those items.  I know that it seems rather repetitive, but my hope is that I can answer your questions, before you have to ask.  Thanks for stopping by!

Oh Becca, these are beautiful, elegant, adorable, sweet, cute, and any other adjective available! I so love looking at everything you create! You are my idol and I strive to emulate your work, which isn’t easy!! Thanks for the list of supplies and tools. That sure helps make it easier to decided what I need to add to my ever growing craft room. I have only recently seen work that was done with the JustRite stamper and I am so torn as to which item I need to concentrate on now. I have just started with the Nestabilities and have the square, circle, oval, rectange and long rectangle classic and scalloped sets. I still NEED to get the petites, the smalls, etc., etc., etc. But now, I now I Must have the JustRite Stampers too!!

I am grateful to my Savior for the talent he has blessed me with and my love for creating. I am even more grateful that he has helped me to find such wonderful people with an even greater talent than mine to help me to grow. Thanks again Becca and please keep up the beautiful work. I saw your work in PaperCrafts Magazine and knew immediately that it was yours. Who could miss? Congratuations on being published.ReplyCancel

I spent quite a while this evening on a project that just didn’t go the way that I had hoped.  No worries, I’ve changed it but it’s better left for me to approach again tomorrow.  In the mean time I thought I would share some news.

In a round about way, I’ve been published!   For me it’s a first and I’ve been so tickled but didn’t know exactly how to share the information without, well . . . seeming to brag.  So initially I decided to let it go and bask in the praise of family and close friends.  Someone I admire immensely reasoned with me that it really is okay to share, it’s always good to toot your own horn a little bit.   Okay, hard for me to do but toot, toot, toot!

I’m tickled that many of the readers here emailed me to say they had seen this picture in the magazine and remembered the tutorial from my blog.  Curious?  Have a look in the May/June edition of Papercrafts Magazine on page 69.    I’ve had many emails asking  where to find the project tutorial on my blog so here’s a picture and a link for new readers. I promise in the not too distant future I will create a tutorial page for the blog to make finding these things far simpler).

Spellbinders Ruffled Flower Medallion Tutorial

Now, changing horses a little bit – I wanted to make sure you know about some awesome Blog Candy being given way by JustRite Stampers.  They passed 250,000 hits and are celebrating in a big way.  The more people that leave a comment at their website, the more prizes they are giving away.  They started with one set of prizes and have already had to add on due to the number of people jumping in for a chance to win – be sure you jump in on this opportunity.  You have until Friday, March 27th at midnight to enter.

Good luck, and keep checking back with me – I still have some celebrating to do myself before the end of the month!

No offense to any one in particular but as I’ve said before, your work is beyond…Secondly, congratulations on being published. I’m somewhat surprised you hadn’t been previously. Funny that someone saw the issue and knew that it was yours immediately. I think I could too. Thirdly, I personally think there is a difference between bragging and tooting your own horn.
