Amazing Paper Grace vignette at CHA 2016 debuting a line of wedding die templates for Spellbinders - www.amazingpapergrace.com
Good morning friends!  At long last I’m getting to the heart of my travels to CHA 2016.   I thought I would start out today with a video and  information about my new line.  Throughout the week we’ll get more up close, then I’ll wrap it up neat and tidy so that hopefully I’ve thought of the questions before you’ve asked.  Bear with me, this is a long post!  I field a lot of questions through the blog so I want to proactively answer and give you a point of reference for my collection.

Amazing Paper Grace vignette at CHA 2016 debuting a line of wedding die templates for Spellbinders - www.amazingpapergrace.comToday I’m showing a video taken by my sweet friend Yana Smakula, designer extraordinaire for Spellbinders.  She caught me unexpectedly on my first morning in the booth and said, guess what – we’re going to do a video.

Just the previous evening I posted my word of the year here on the blog – courage.  I mused to myself how we’re not wasting any time putting that word to the test!  Lol, I think I talk loud to hide my nervousness; having my picture taken is outside of my comfort zone but this year I’m going to move it inside my comfort zone.  Enjoy!

Pertinent information about my line follows the video and I’ll edit to update this post if there are changes or additions.  Book mark it!

INSPIRATION
As you know, my style is classic, romantic and elegant.  I like to think that today I labor on a card, tomorrow it is given and tucked away for sweet memory and 50 years from now and adventurous descendant is pulling it out of box and running their hands over my bows, the pearls, the stitching and reading the handwriting.  Will they know who I am? Will they know what I stood for?  Will they get a sense of the spirit of giving?  I can’t be sure, but I hope so.  The present is important enough that I’m content to leave breadcrumbs, and that’s what we do every day as cardmakers.  A DIY card, one that is handmade brings joy to the giver and the receiver – what better way to punctuate a special occasion.

I was invited to create a Wedding Collection in line with my style, here’s an overview of what I came up with.

GOAL

  • My new line is over the top elegant to create a one of a kind custom DIY look for any wedding.
  • After the fact, each die will blend seamlessly with your everyday stash of dies for remarkable cards and embellishments.
  • The mix and match design will enable you to use each element on cards, tags, boxes, planners and 3D creations.
  • The classic cursive style while trendy, is also classic and will stand the test of time.
  • I design with the philosophy that you should be able to get 5 uses out of each die template (and we’ll have fun over the next several months coming up with the five ways)

WHO
My name is Becca Feeken and I’m the owner and designer at Amazing Paper Grace.  I’m a Spellbinders Licensed Designer and tickled to release a new line of timeless, classic die templates.

WHAT
I’ve designed a line of dies that the everyday crafter simplify or glam up to create contemporary DIY wedding invitations and embellishments.  The elements are tailored so that an element used on a card can just as easily be wrapped around a box, used for a place card or gift tag.

WHEN
My line of dies is scheduled to ship in March 2016.

WHERE
Right now, you’ll be able to reach out to your favorite retailers to pre-order them to ensure they are on their way as soon as available.  Retailers pick a selection of dies, if you don’t find what you have your heart set on, request them!!  I’ve been told the dies will be available on the Spellbinders Website and Online Store in March of 2016.  I’ll share updates as soon as I have them.

WHY
I’m grateful for the opportunity to show and support the dies I’ve designed.  As  a member of my community I’ll endeavor to show you how to make the most of each die with “out of the box ideas” on how to use them to get the most of your stash investment.  In doing so, every purchase supports this site and enables me keep it alive as well as bring you more original content, more original ideas and sortable galleries of examples that will help you put your specific dies to use.

post-header-bottomThanks so much for stopping by!  More sharing tomorrow!

Oh my goodness, you did a wonderful job on this video. To be able to be so professional while being put to the test at a moments notice. I have watched you blossom for several years, maybe 5 or so and from the beginning I knew you have had what it takes to be in front of the camera. Just between you and me, I think you’ve got Martha St—– beat hands down. I usually see her assistants doing most of the “putting together” as she gets the credit but oh well, “thems the breaks” as the old saying goes. Love your style, love your products, and especially love the example you set as a child in Christ. You never know where the seeds you plant will take root and grow. I have enjoyed watching you blossom. . Just living vicariously through you is an pleasure. May God continue to bless my cyber friend.. Hugs…. DeniceReplyCancel

  • […] You saw them in the video and now here’s the close up so you can see the sweet detail on the pieces that get stacked together to assemble the simple to make Ladies Shoe and Gents Shoe.  Since the make and take had to be simple enough to get people through the line in about 5 minutes or less, I used two of my new tags as a palette.  I’ve used Arched Swallowtail Pennant as a backdrop and the ornate tag is called Decorative Swallowtail Tags – they are made for each other but easily used alone.  Questions about how to get these – see my informational post about Who, What, When, Where and Why – HERE. Valentines Day Card Making Ideas by Becca Feeken using Quietfire Design - Sometimes Said Pooh and Spellbinders Mary Border Strip and Spellbinders Curved Square - www.amazingpapergrace.com
Sweet friends, Happy Monday to you!!  I hope you all are faring well.  I’m popping in to share a filigree card that is my kind of Valentines card.  Lots of folks give one big card for their number one sweetie and I say that for Valentines Day you can have lots of sweeties – I feel that way about my kids, close friends and people who sweetly offer kindness.  I love this sentiment from Quietfire DesignSometimes Said Pooh and I thought it perfect for my Valentines Card because even the very smallest things take the most room in our hearts.  Over the weekend as I collected colors and such for this card, I can’t tell you how much joy I felt in making it.  I used a couple more of my favorites – Spellbinders Mary Border Strip  and Spellbinders Curved Square.

Valentines Day Card Making Ideas by Becca Feeken using Quietfire Design - Sometimes Said Pooh and Spellbinders Mary Border Strip and Spellbinders Curved Square - www.amazingpapergrace.com
I normally say that cards are easy peasy but I’ll be honest to say that this one is achievable with patience.  It’s made using the same technique I’ve previously done in a tutorial here on the blog called How To Make an Encased Border, only this time it’s on a larger scale.  The base of the front is made by cutting the inlaid portion of Spellbinders Mary Border Strip three times into a front panel that is 5-1/2″ x 7-1/2″ – scored 1 inch down from the top.  (I pinpointed how to place the three borders after doing the center border then pencil marks to give me an idea how to line up the two outside borders).  To the flap/hinge, you add a panel big enough to be the back side of your card.  You can see what the front of the card base looks like below.

Card Base made using Spellbinders Mary Border Strip - www.amazingpapergrace.com
The beauty of this card is that three whole cut borders are simply glued on top of the base I described above.  These 3 pristine cut borders cover up the base as well as any markings I’ve made.  How are they glued?  Well, at CHA I zipped over to the Scrapbook Adhesives booth and begged them to let me try their sheets of adhesive.  I have to tell you this is a win!! This card needed full coverage and the sheets of adhesive at Scrapbook Adhesives performed beautifully.  I simply added the adhesive sheet (here are the 4 x 6 Adhesive Sheets and here are the 6 x 12 Adhesive Sheets) to the backside of my gold poster board prior to cutting and once cut, I pulled the liner off and voila, I had a big die cut sticker.

Die Cut Sticker made with Spellbinders Mary Border Strip and Adhesive by Scrapbook Adhesives - www.amazingpapergrace.com
Now, I was easily able to line up matching all the corresponding holes on my front card base and it gives the illusion that I cut the background in one large piece, out of gold.  I finished up the card by adding two panels cut with Spellbinders Curved Square.  Finished Card Size:  6″x 6″

Edited to add:  Oops, forgot to add that after these behind the scenes pictures were taken, I decided I did not want any white to visible on the front panel – there are a couple of places in between dies that I went back and trimmed the white out between inlay 1 and 2 then between inlay 2 and 3.

This airforce blue coloured card is so pretty and shows up every detail that the beautiful intricate dies have. Sorry flower that last comment was meant for the other card, doh i am stupid.
This gold Mary’s border die card is one that i am going to try with dies that i have at home as this is such a beautiful card but there again i saw the video a while back of your doing just the border along the bottom of the card base and it was so pretty and gave and entirely new look, a more luxurious feel to the card. I like how you always seem to have the perfect sentiment on them to the point i wonder if you can get hold of these sentiments back across here in the UK. Take today’s sentiment, there has never been a truer word spoken than that i think. Thank you flower for a stunning creation and for sharing with us your ideas and how you acheived them.

Card Making Ideas by Becca Feeken using Quietfire Design - Live in the Moment and Spellbinders Heirloom Rectangle, Spellbinders Oval Floral - www.amazingpapergrace.com
Good Sunday morning lovely friends!   Can I just say that when I have the chance to sit down and create it calms my soul.  It has been a great week and sitting down to work and reflect and get back to what I love has me brimming with gratitude.   Thank you for all your kind words, I’m always amazed and thankful for you all.  Today I’m sharing a two color, two layer card with an inspirational message that is one of my favorites from Quietfire DesignLive in the Moment.   I promise, it doesn’t get any easier than this for layers.
WRBF-4882-2016
Once I had my card base and a second layer in place, I simply cut Spellbinders Heirloom Rectangle (as a frame).  Next I cut Spellbinders Oval Floral (as a frame).  Then I centered the oval vertically over the horizontal Rectangle and lightly marked to know where to stamp.  After stamping, I attached every thing permanently.  I couldn’t resist slipping in a little bit of lace to embellish and a couple of pearls to outline the oval . . oh, and a bow! :-)

What a wonderful idea, thank you again for creating something so beautiful and sharing it with us. I do have most of the dies and I am excited to create something once I have a chance. I wish I could learn how to tie the bows though. I always go for the flower in the corner instead.
Keeping all the people affected by the snowstorm in my thoughts, we live in Minnesota so we usually get the cold and a blizzard from time to time, but nothing what came your way.ReplyCancel

    Good evening Becca,
Hope you enjoyed your Sunday. This is just a spectacular card, love the color and the dies. Are your bow makers still available. I am so glad I bought mine when I first came across your blog. One of the best crafting investments I have made; along with Grand Calibur and Spellbinder dies. I have the rectangle version of the oval one that you used. Do you think I could use that for the frame and then something Floral Ovals for the top? Just wondering! Love all your cards and all the inspiration you give so many people, and so unselfishly! God Bless!

    Good morning Becca,
This airforce blue coloured card is so pretty and shows up every detail that the beautiful intricate dies have. I love how you have accented it with the pearls as they give it a much more sophisticated look that rhinestones don’t have. The lace that you add along with your stunning bows just add that jeu ne sa qui that always makes your cards something so out of this world for me. Thank you Becca for another stunning work of art.
