Bird Song

I am absolutely wild about the new Nesting Bird stamp by Impression-Obsession!  It’s so funky and different from my normal style that I thought it would make for a fun afternoon trying to figure out how to make it work.  I decided to emboss it in white on white watercolor paper and use my Tombow Markers to make the white embossing pop.   (Just so you know, Michelle at Stampers Dream is carrying the full line of Tombows now and she ships them out lickety split!)

Because I cut the image out and wanted to mount it on a dark background, I ended up cutting off much of the detail.  To get the detail, back, I white embossed my dark panel which I cut with Spellbinders Labels Large,  and seated the cut out image on top.    I used design paper from Tiny Dancer, My Mind’s Eye, Bazzill for my main panel and the card base is 140lb Strathmore Watercolor Paper.

Card Recipe:
Stamps:
Impression Obessession – Nesting Bird, Hampton Arts – Sentiment
Paper:
Tiny Dancer, My Mind’s Eye,  Bazzill, 140lb Strathmore Watercolor Paper
Ink:  Versamark, Versafine Black Onyx
Accessories:  Spellbinders – Labels Large,
Tombow Markers, All Dressed Up – Chenille Flower, White stamens, White Embossing powder, Clear Embossing Powder, Ribbon, Pearls, Brads

Tombow Colors – 837, 452, 373, 993, 177, 98

Psst . . . I’m pretty excited over here because there are some new things happening at Spellbinders!!  You will definitely want to stop by and see me on Monday, June 22nd when I get to reveal one of the new Spellbinders Shapeabilities Pendants.  I know the silence over here was deafening, but now I’ll get to show you what I was working on.  Don’t miss it!    Say, did someone say there are prizes to be had?  Come back to check it out!

Sometime could you explain how you white embossed this stamp? I look at your cards every single day and have made several that look close to what you have done. I especially love that you tell us which color copics you have used. Thanks so much!ReplyCancel

Hi Becca, It’s been a long time since I have commented, but I am still out here stalking. This bird is so cool, just love it. I just got some new IO stamps of animals and such so I need to check closely to see if he is part of my set. Love what you did with all his funkiness and really like how you filled in for the bits that are impossible to cut out. Great idea.ReplyCancel

Totally amazing card. Never think of embossing white on white – how clever and so effective. I have Marvy Le Plume pens so daresay they may be similar to TomBow. And such a clever way of getting the full stamp by doubling up….I’m speechless.
You never cease to amaze me Becca you are a treasure chest of crafty gems.

Good evening, Becca. Oh my, I had to do a double take to make sure I was in the right blog- definitely not your usual style but extremely eye-catching, nevertheless. It’s the sort of card you have to look at again and again it’s so striking and with such an unusual layout.ReplyCancel
