Becca Bit: Punching a Doublesided Lattice Border

I’ve received a couple of emails with questions about how to make the lattice handle I used on the recent Lattice Basket I made.   So, I have a Becca Bit to share with you today.   It’s short and sweet so don’t blink or you might miss it, lol!!

Thanks for stopping by, see you soon!

Thanks Becca for your Tutorial. It helped a lot.

I have been playing around with my MS punches–doubling etc. Some are easier than others.

I love my new Water Lily Punches –So pretty in White. Pink tinted would be great also.

Have you done a card with them yet?

    Thanks for sharing your talent.ReplyCancel

  • Pat JandacekFebruary 17, 2010 - 3:15 pm

I’m a big fan and admirer of yours! Enjoyed how to do something like that precisely rather than “catch as catch can” which is my usual mode. And you may not realize it but you had another Becca Bit in there that wasn’t mentioned: Using the triangle to keep your left edge straight when there isn’t much paper width to put against the top rail of the paper cutter. I’m thrilled with that technique! That will save me a lot of recuts.ReplyCancel

  • AnnaFebruary 17, 2010 - 3:23 pm

    Becca,

    Thanks for the wonderful tutorial.

I’m in the market for a new trimmer and the trimmer you used seems to be very accurate, would you mind sharing what type or brand it is.

    ThanksReplyCancel

  • SandiFebruary 17, 2010 - 4:45 pm

Great tip – thank you! Like another viewer, I also loved the “silent” tip using the triangle to keep my paper straight. Have often wished my Tonic cutter had lines closer together and this will solve that problem.ReplyCancel

    Becca,
This is just gorgeous! I have ordered what I need to make it but I have 2 questions. How did the box go together and the lid parts and sizes? Nothing like being challenged here. How long is the handle on the basket
Thanks so much for sharing these with us. I feel very fortunate to be able to do these

just a reminder… you are fabulous. Thanks for the tutorials.ReplyCancel

  • HeatherFebruary 17, 2010 - 10:53 pm

Thank you! I think I took the long road, cos when I made mine, it was wider than yours. I simply measured, as you had, but included the entire depth instead of just the end piece. I then flipped and cut out the lattice. Yours gives the thinner width, which is lovely!
PS: I have the regular lattice border punch and have lined it up as meantioned to make a wonderful 1″ strip. Cutting the paper at 1-1/4″ gave me a thin line down the middle making it look like a different punch. Cool!
I’m loving your Becca Bits :)ReplyCancel

  • CindyFebruary 17, 2010 - 11:34 pm

Thanks – so glad you gave us this tutorial; I was just going to flip and punch again – but you did it RIGHT… But as you’ve said, it can be anyway we want, more space, less space, etc. Thanks again!ReplyCancel
