Because It Has a Song

I hope you’ve enjoyed all the bird goodness that Our Daily Bread Designs has offered this month.  The birds are gorgeous and the sentiments that accompany them are amazing.  I have two cards to share using this months sets.   This card from the He Watches Me Set has one of my very favorite quotes :-)

I framed the birds using Spellbinders™ Standard Circles SM and Spellbinders™ Standard Circles LG then embellished with cut bits of Martha Stewart  Daisy Fan Border Punch.

Card Recipe:
Stamps:  Our Daily Bread Designs – He Watches Me
Paper:  Bazzill, K & Co. – TC Blossomwood
Ink:  Memento – Rich Cocoa, Blue dye based ink
Accessories:  Spellbinders™ Standard Circles SM, Spellbinders™ Standard Circles LG, Martha Stewart Daisy Fan Border Punch.  Pearls, Ribbon

The next card is made using Our Daily Bread Designs You Will Find Refuge Set, with this charming little Chickadee.  I colored the Chickadee with Copic Markers and sponged in the background  while still in the Spellbinders™ Classic Ovals SM die.  I slipped in a layer cut in the round using Martha Stewart Iron Gate Corner Punch.  Quite some time ago I created a tutorial that shows you how to create a circle or circular frame using a corner punch – you can find it HERE; it works marvelously with the newer MS corner punches as well.  Underneath that decorative layer I stacked another Spellbinders™ Classic Ovals LG and Spellbinders™ Classic Scalloped Ovals LG.  One of my favorite shapes for sentiments (because it is the perfect size) is like a surprise bonus in the Spellbinders™ Polka Dot Frame.  This shape comes from the inside of the smallest frame.

Card Recipe:
Stamps:  Our Daily Bread Designs – You Will Find Refuge
Paper:  Bazzill, K &Co. – TC Blossomwood
Ink:  Memento Tuxedo Black, Colorbox Chanti, Brushed Corduroy Distress Ink, CTMH Creme Brulee
Accessories:  Spellbinders™ Classic Ovals LG, Spellbinders™ Class Ovals SM, Spellbinders™ Classic Scalloped Ovals LG, Spellbinders™ Polka Dot Frame, Martha Stewart Iron Gate Corner Punch, Clear Embossing Powder, Ribbon

Thanks for stopping in to see what I was up to.  You’re always welcome, friends!

ETA:  Above I referenced a tutorial I created back in 2008 that teaches you how to create a circular frame using a corner punch.  I received a question that I wanted to address quickly.  The question asked was how to take the wings off of the Martha Stewart Punches and the answer is please don’t remove them.  The Martha Stewart punches can be used just as if they were a regular punch, with the wings in, so there is no need to remove anything.

How do you take the “corner” pieces off the M.S. punch? In your video you use the EK punch but those are easy to get off. Thanks!ReplyCancel

Wow! These cards are amazing! I love the tutorial on how to make punched out circles! I can’t believe I missed it really. Your cards are so inspiring and your talent blows me away. I showed your blog to a fellow card maker and she was floored. We both want the spellbinders, but neither has an embossing machine. Need to change that! Lol! Thank so much for the cards you show and sharing your techinques.ReplyCancel
