Be Not Forgetful

You may have noticed that lately I’ve added to the line up of companies I have the pleasure of working with.  No one has gone away, but in my quest to keep things fun and include all the styles I enjoy stamping, there is another addition I’ve been dying to announce.  Well I’m so pleased to say that I am on the design team for Quietfire Design!   Headed by the very talented Suzanne Cannon, each design is hand lettered by her before setting into rubber.  Her selection of quotes is breathtaking and the lettering is perfect in every way.  These stamps are the perfect elegant element for my favorite genre of card.  I can hardly wait to share, and I know that many of you will say that this is sooooo . . . me.

The hardest part of coming up with today’s card was wondering which of Suzanne’s stamps to pick first.  This one, Be Not Forgetful, is one of my favorites so I thought I would start here.  I simply stamped with Versafine Black Onyx and clear embossing powder onto Spellbinders Curved Rectangles.  Each layer is backed by shimmery gold paper.  At the top of the card I made angel wings using Spellbinders Scalloped Paisley.  I simply cut off the top scalloped part of the paisley.  Each wing was stamped with a filigree background stamp using gold leaf adhesive followed an application of gold leaf which was burnished and brushed off revealing a distressed gold design.   The wings are perched on a square filigree jewelry piece I found in the jewelry section of Michaels.  Ribbon and gold pearls are the final touch – as if I could leave those off!

Card Recipe:
Stamps:  Quietfire Design – Be Not Forgetful
Paper:  The Paper Company – Blonde Columns, Gold
Ink:  Versafine Black Onyx with clear embossing powder
Accessories:  Spellbinders Curved Rectangles, Spellbinders Scalloped Paisley, Gold Leaf, Filigree Jewelry Finding, Ribbon, Gold Pearls

Tip:
If you are interested in making your own angel wings using the Paisley die template, I recommend you make a pattern.  Simply cut one paisley and trim across the top curve all the way out to the narrow part of the shape.  Cut two more paisleys and be sure to flip one so that it presents a mirror image.  Trace using your pattern and both with match perfectly!  I know that seems very simple, but I had to get it wrong before I tried making a pattern.

Thanks for stopping by!

Awesome card, more clever use of your Spellbinders to make your wings, thanks for sharing that tip. The sentiment stamp is out of this world, just what I need, must look out for suppliers to the UK. My son Barney is getting married in august and I would love to think I could make such a beautiful card for him and Elen.
Bless you in all you do and for sharing your God given talent with us.

    Becca:

Thanks again for such a stunner! Quick Question: Did you cut the gold paper with the nestie or did you just trim it to size?

Because of you I have a whole plethora of nesties being delivered to my house this week!

    Thanks,

I have admired Suzanne’s calligraphy & stamps for years and am so pleased to see you are part of her team. Your card is stunning and I love how you made the wings. I also like how you are not afraid to say that you are also a member of the “trial and error” team. As beautiful as your designs always are, it’s so nice to see that you occassionally suffer like the rest of us mere mortal stampers. Thanks so much for sharing.ReplyCancel

    Becca,

Wow. beautiful card! I love it when you go white and gold with your color scheme.

I was wondering, how in the world you are able to keep up with all of these companies that you are working with? I think I have lost count. Let’s see if I can name them: Spellbinder’s, Our Daily Bread Designs, Magnolia Stamps, Flourishes, Just Rite, Stamper’s Dream Team, and now Quietfire Design. I am dying to know if I got them all. Let me know. Tee Hee.

    Hugs,
