Art is . . .

Hi there blog friends. I’m running in a million different directions today but I have a card I put together that I wanted to show. It’s a little bit on the clean and simple style, but sometimes I like it that way, lol!!  I’m using a sentiment from Quietfire Design called Art Is Letting Your Fingers Capture.

I used an embossing folder and then used Spellbinders Standard Circles LG using my half cut method to cut out the half moon at the top. Underneath it, I inserted Spellbinders Labels Twenty which is mounted on a doily.  I  finished off with some pearls and ribbon.  I’m always looking for different and I think I hit that today, lol!

SUPPLIES I USED
Stamps: Quietfire Design – Art is
Paper:  The Paper Company
Ink: Colorbox Pigment – Cocoa
Accessories:  Spellbinders Labels Twenty, Spellbinders Standard Circles LG, Sizzix Thank You Set #5 Embossing Folder

I hope you’re having a wonderful Sunday. Blessings to you and your loved ones. I’ll see you soon!!

    Becca,
This is just a beautiful card. Right up there with my all time favorites. I definitely would not call this a simple design, just a very elegant one. I really love these embossing folders that split the design. There is so much that you can do with them and they really add alot of effortless dimension to the cards. I love it and love the soft pink color. I have been following you for some time now and always wonder when designing your cards, how often do you change your mind and have to start over on a card. I know that this happens to me alot and I end up spending much more time on my cards then I should. I always think “oh it will only take me an hour and end up spending much more until the end product is exactly right.

    Hi Becca,
    Very Pretty card.
I am a visual learner, sometimes written instructions seem to be written in a
language I don’t understand, when this happens I have a friend I ring and then it all makes sense,
Classes were I can ask questions and see a finished article are great as well

This card is beautiful. I love all your cards and follow your site faithfully. My favorite part of the card is the embossing on the half circle. How do you get two patterns on such a small piece? The lines perfectly match the background and that puzzles me too! Such perfection–so impressive! Thank you for sharing your work with all of us.

  • Karen LinarezMay 17, 2011 - 11:49 pm

Sorry I’ve been silent for awhile, but I have been checking in. I love this card. The half circle at the top is very creative. I’m wondering how you did the frame around the sentiment panel, in the close-up it doesn’t look like two layers. I’ve seen the technique of inking around the edge of the die, but it hasn’t worked well for me…the ink is never solid enough. Is that what you did here? And if so, how do you get such a nice solid border?ReplyCancel

  • Carol WMay 19, 2011 - 12:33 pm

I too am interested in knowing more about the inked border on the sentiment piece! If you get a chance, Becca, please do share. :-)

For ladies like me who were wondering what the “half cut method” was that Becca refers to, I searched the blog and found it, so let me save you the trouble. Go to the March 13 2011 post and you’ll see a project and video!ReplyCancel
