A Sweet Story

Becca’s friend Kelly here once again.  Since Becca handed the reins over to me, there were some things I wanted to share, to give her an opportunity to catch her breath after making so many arrangements, phone calls and company visiting.  She will be back soon so please keep checking in.   Please know that she is a tender hearted soul and through all the crisis of the past years, we always knew she was doing okay because we would see her blogging.  You all have meant so much to her.  Instead of worry and withdrawing, I found that in her most stressful times, she was creating and channeling her anxiety in productivity, trying to focus outward, reaching out instead of turning inward.  I could gush on more, but let me show you this card.  This was a card that John made for her when she was out of for the day.  When she came back he showed it to her but confessed that he didn’t know how to tie a ribbon.  Well, we all know that Becca can tie a ribbon, lol, so she did that part for him.   If I recall, this was the first time you all were introduced to Becca’s John and a lot of you called him Mr. Becca.  I wanted to show the card again because this is so typical of how close they were – if you missed the original post, you can it read it here www.amazingpapergrace.com/my-heart-just-melted/.  Thanks for indulging me while I step in for my dear friend.  Please hold her in your prayers.

Okay, I now have teas streaming down my face!! This card is fabulous!! He was definitely observant and I think I would be a puddled mess if my hubby did this for me. My heart aches for you Becca and I pray the Lord will take your heart in His hands and hold ever so gently as well as comfort it during this difficult time of transition. Huge (((hug))).ReplyCancel

    Dear Becca,

I came across your site not too long ago, been browsing it since. I’ve never been someone who comments on blog posts but i just have to comment here.

I went back to the original post and now i’ve tears streaming down my face. I read the comments on the original post, everybody told you how lucky you are, how loving he is and how it’s so very sweet of him.

I can’t even express myself properly now, it must be a terrible time for you.. I hope that you will brave through it, he loves you too much to want you to grieve for him.

Stay strong and I will keep you in my prayers. God bless.ReplyCancel

I remember when she posted it and introduced us to the wonderful man in her life. I remember thinking then how special he was to show her his love in the way that she knows how to do it best.

I am still saddened by Becca’s loss and keep her in my prayers. She needs not to worry about her blogging family as we will wait patiently until she feels she is ready to come back to us. We wait with open arms to give her the hugs she needs now.

May God continue to give her and her family strength as they proceed with the life He has planned for them.

    With Love and Respect,

I fondly remember the post she did about the card and how lovingly she spoke of John (Mr Becca) and how this card shows his true love for her. I bet they could almost burst because of their love for each other at that moment she came home to find that card…. it was such a sweet thing to do.

Becca – I hope the strength in knowing how much John loved you keeps you going at this time, and I also hope that you have many moments contemplating and remembering all the wonderful times you’ve shared thoughout your time together.

I wish you well, and still keep you in my thoughts.

That is the sweetest thing I’ve ever seen. I’m sure many of you have seen that old video that was being passed around a couple of years ago that showed how “the husband was in his tool shop” making a card for his wife. He was using his big power tools, well, that is how my husband would have made me a card. This card makes me truly wish I had known John. What a great thing to make Becca a card when she was the master chef of making cards. I’m fairly new to being a follower of Becca’s blog so I don’t have all the history of knowing how ill John was. I just knew he was sick. When I read he had passed I was so shocked because I just didn’t know how bad he was. I’ve been praying for Becca and her family. I’m so grateful that you have been posting here to help us understand what is happening in her life. I will continue to pray and as I do I will pray for you, her good friend. God knew we would need others that is why he made sure we had good, close friends to hold us up when we could no longer hold ourselves up. Blessings on you and Becca’s family.

  • BarbaraNovember 7, 2010 - 1:10 pm

    Thanks
I also thought of that card when I read of his passing. He was indeed a special person. How many men would do something like that ?
It is rare when ” two very special people” find each other in marriage.
Becca the depth of your grief is in direct relationship to the depth of the love you both had for each other.

Take all the time you need to come to terms with this terrible loss in your life. Grief can’t be rushed nor papered over with a brave face ! Be kind to yourself . Go ahead and cry, get angry or what ever your true feelings are . Count it a victory for the day if all you could do was get dressed or pay a bill. . Dealing with your true feelings are the best way to recover from a tragic loss in you life.

Right now you are walking in a fog and can’t see the path ahead. In time the fog will lift.
We will be here when you have the strength to return. And it may take longer than you expect.
In the mean time we are sending our thoughts and prayers to help hold you up.

Though I have had this guilty feeling of ‘wasting time’ I enjoy the encouragement and experiences of others. Even though it’s not directed at me, it provides comfort and supports my belief that good will and love can prevail. I did not see the original post but this is a wonderful memory for you.
In time these memories with bring you so much comfort; right now they might bring tears to your eyes but eventually they will bring a smile to your face. My heart aches for you now because I know you must feel so lost and alone. Your blogging family will be here and offer prayers and words of comfort as you face the future. May God Bless you and your family. Words are so inadequate at this time but may it help to know that you have so many friends and specifially blogging friends who are thinking of you in love and prayers.

I can’t see for the tears running out of my eyes! My glasses are going to be a mess but I wanted to say this is just so sweet and loving. What a wonderful card that she will cherish forever because “he” made this for her with all his love! Anyone can go buy a card at Hallmark but not everyone has the desire to express his love from the heart with a homemade card. Gosh! Still crying!

I know that the love they shared is truly inspiring. I also know that he is up there keeping watch on her. I believe that while there are those who remember him, he’ll never really be gone. He’ll always be here.

I am speechless. What a wonderful story. This was before I started following Becca. But, the one thing I do know since, is that John meant everything to her and that he was a kind and loving sole. What they had was definitely very dear and special and will take a little while for her to grieve and be able to move ahead on her own. Becca is a fighter thou and she is not alone – she has so many of us in her corner and Kelly, she has you. You are a great friend and I know she is blessed to have you. Thank you for taking care of our dear friend.
As I am writing this, the tears just keep coming. Tell Becca that she is in our prayers and thoughts and that we miss her. Give her a big hug and tell her that we will be here when she is ready to return.

All the times he had been sitting watching her as they talked as she created, and she realized he had been taking in all that she was doing .. what a testament to the relationship between them and how wonderful to have this keepsake to remember … I’ve been thinking of Becca and her family and wishing them all fond memories to keep them going …ReplyCancel

    Becca,

I remember the original post as many do. What a testament of your “love story” – yours and John’s. Many people live a life time and never experience this type of love. I had a similar love story with my “best friend” and love of my life named John. Maybe it is the name John that gushes such a love. After all his name means, God’s grace.

My John wrote me a love letter the year before his homecoming and I have read it many times over. You will find this little card will flood your soul with memories and love each and every time you look at it.

We love you Becca. Love yourself as John loved you – take time, we will all be here when you come back. Until then we are standing in the gap. . love in ChristReplyCancel

Kelly…Thank you for your gentle kindness and care that you give to Becca. You are a TRUE friend! I was bawling when I saw this memory of the story of John’s ultimate love when he gave Becca this card! I always remember the first time I saw Becca’s blog (after seeing her work on several other sites and reading about how sweet she was). I remember reading her definition under her picture, “I’m a . . . child of God, a wife, a mother, a daughter, a sister, a friend, a crafter, a stamper and more. Yet I’m hopeful that this little box of text…” and so on… Well I could see that this is Becca and her relationship with God shines through in all that she does. It was apparent immediately.

The relationship with God shone through in her marriage as it does with all of her family and friends. This will be her strength and hope and courage as she gets through this difficult time. God will be with her all along as we all pray for her as she grieves for her dear John. So many blessings go out to her as she takes all the time she needs!ReplyCancel
